Forward Thinking This is the time of year which marks changes for Vivacity more than any other. We have finished our summer programme with tremendous success for the heritage and arts festivals and the less heralded,
but equally vibrant, summers activity programmes at our sports venues (Summer Clubs), theatre (Into the Woods) and libraries (Record Breakers six book challenge).
Contents
We now turn our attention to the winter season, ghost walks and Panto (see our articles on Priestgate Vaults and free staff tickets to Panto on pages 7 & 8). Of course we will also be delivering the bread and butter work that is vital for both us as a business and the day to day lives of people in Peterborough.
Selfie Project
Underpinning all of this is something that we have been working on since the first day of Vivacity; our way of working and our cultural values. Throughout the rest of this year we will be getting to grips with just what this means and how it drives the business. Expect to hear a lot more about this, you will be asked to think about, contribute to and sign up to developing these values. We want to share and understand ‘what good looks like’ to you and me and how we can make ‘best practice’ everyday practice.

This year’s Peterborough Arts Festival was fantastic, and the tremendously hard work of everyone involved in making it happen most definitely paid off! Cathedral Square and Bridge Street underwent a magical metamorphosis, and truly became an Enchanted City.
Enchanted City:
The Selfie Project Grand Finale!
As part of this year’s Arts Festival, Peterborough Presents commissioned Magnetic Events to create an Enchanted City, featuring a series of projections that contained up over 200 selfies submitted by local people, including our very own CEO! The projections illuminated glass and brickwork in and around Cathedral Square against an autumnal night sky, and captivated hundreds over the festival weekend. We at Peterborough Presents would like to say a special thank you to Vivacity staff who got involved with the Selfie Project and sent in a selfie. Secondly, we would like to thank local artist Luke Payn for completing

a monumental task of creating over two hundred new pieces of art for Magnetic Events’ ‘Enchanted City’. Luke was very methodical in his approach to re-imagining the selfies for the arts festival. He did not simply put a filter on the images he was given; he individually manipulated each selfie by hand and then again digitally, closely replicating the style and techniques of Andy Warhol. His methods and attention to detail did not go unnoticed, as both selfie submitters and passers-by alike stood in awe outside the old linen shop, watching familiar faces appear in an unfamiliar way. One participant commented: ‘I feel like he’s captured my personality and I’ve never met him, it’s amazing!’ The Pop Art portraits are know displayed on the Peterborough Presents You Tube channel, take a look www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS0_J5jybEI
