D/S Hestmanden sailed during both World Wars and is the last remaining ship in the Nortraship fleet. The ship is a unique cultural heritage site and a memorial from WW2. These magnificent, spacious premises regularly host fascinating exhibitions of contemporary art by local, national and international artists.

The cathedral sits right in the middle of the central square Torvet. Feel free to step inside and explore this Neo-Gothic cathedral, built in 1884. The Cathedral is open for a few hours every day, and visitors are welcome to sit in silence, light candles, pray or reflect.

Arkivet served as Gestapo headquarters in Southern Norway during WWII. There are guided tours during the summer months and on selected weekends and in association with special exhibitions during the rest of the year. Groups can book individual guided tours.

TIERPARK KRISTIANSAND

The Fiskebrygga fish market is one of Kristiansand's most idyllic spots. It offers a wide selection of marine delicacies, and there are tanks full of live fish and shellfish. During summer the cosy quayside restaurants are bustling with life, the harbour is packed with boats, and everyone is in high spirits. Even if you choose not to dine here, we highly recommend buying an ice-cream from the ice-cream bar and enjoying it on the quay.

Take a stroll through Ravnedalen, Kristiansand’s beautiful nature park and green lung. From the top of Ravneheia you have panoramic views of the city. Concerts, quizzes and other events take place in the park in the summer, and Café Generalen serves up tasty temptations such as burgers, salads and other snacks. Machen Sie einen Spaziergang durch den wunderschönen Naturpark Ravnedalen, die grüne Lunge der Stadt. Von der Anhöhe Ravneheia bietet sich eine fantastische Aussicht auf die Stadt. Naturgetreue Ausstellungen zeigen die Naturgeschichte Südnorwegens von der Eiszeit bis in die Gegenwart und von der Küste bis ins Hochgebirge. Auch eine interessante Mineralienausstellung ist zu sehen. Der Botanische Garten ist ein alter Rosengarten aus dem Jahr 1850 mit Norwegens größter Kakteensammlung. Agder Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden is located in a unique park and farm environment. Realistic exhibits retell the natural history of Southern Norway from the Ice Age until the present day – from coast to mountain. The museum also hosts a mineral exhibition. The botanical garden is an historical rose garden from 1850 and is home to Norway's largest collection of cacti. There is a café and children's play area on site.

The open air museum in Kongsgård comprises 34 ancient houses spread over three distinctive sites: Bygaden, Setesdalstunet and Vest-Agdertunet. Guided tours for groups all year round.

The art museum hosts fascinating and varied exhibitions of Norwegian and international art, and also visual art and contemporary craft from its collection.

Der alte Teil im Nordosten von Kristiansands Inn enstadt heißt Posebyen. Hier sind die Straßen von bezaubernden Holzhäusern gesäumt und laden zu einem Spaziergang ein. Es handelt sich um eine der größten Ansammlungen alter, niedriger Holzhäuser in Nordeuropa.

FISCHMARKT

Die Fiskebrygga in Kristiansand gehört zu den idyllischsten Orten in der Stadt. Hier kann man Meeresdelikatessen aller Art kaufen, lebende Fische ebenso wie Schalentiere. Im Sommer wimmelt es in den netten Restaurants auf dem Kai von Menschen, Sportboote haben festgemacht, und es herrscht eine gute Stimmung. Falls Sie sich entschließen, doch woanders zu essen, sollten Sie sich zumindest ein Eis in der Eisbar am Kai gönnen. Sonntags ist die Fiskebrygga geschlossen. Jeden Dienstag im Juli finden ab 19.00 auf der Fiskebrygga kostenlose Konzerte statt.
