Tolkien Trail
Many places claim to have inspired J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of The Rings, but none share a connection as deeply as Ribble Valley. Whilst Tolkien’s sons attended the prestigious Stonyhurst school, he would go on walks around Hurst Green. The Trail commemorates his close connection and takes you through five and half miles of fertile farmland, fairy bridges, rushing rivers, and to the grand Stonyhurst College itself. For a copy of the Trail, www.visitribblevalley.co.uk or at the Shireburn Arms in Hurst Green.
