TBetter ogether

We are better together.

Better Together. Those who have figured that out have cracked the code. Ashtabula County is incredibly fortunate to boast so many assets, led by the trifecta of the wineries, Lake Erie, and our covered bridges. Those three experiences drive interest in the area, but once people arrive, they discover so much more than the single thing that they came for.

Nobody travels in a one-dimensional bubble. Instead, they search for secondary activities to enhance their trip. Guests look for charming places to stay, vibrant natural resources, delicious food, and engaging activities. When businesses partner to deliver unique experiences, they move the expectation needle, changing travelers into ambassadors

Coupled with our mission to market Ashtabula County as a destination for travelers and tourists, the Visitors Bureau is committed to quality tourism industry growth. We see this happening organically when our partners are authentic. Instead of being everything to everyone, we see businesses working together to highlight each other’s strengths

Over the past year, our team has worked to forge partnerships and to think outside of the box. Our office creatively promoted the elevated experiences created in the region. We launched two new websites, an online store, mobile App, and several marketing campaigns.

The CVB has relocated operations to a new office space. Visitors Bureau headquarters is still centrally located in Austinburg on State Route 45 near I-90. This office serves to meet operational and storage needs while the location in Geneva-on-the-Lake serves as a welcome center and retail store.

For the first time ever, Ashtabula County will host the Ohio Conference on Travel this Fall, welcoming several hundred tourism professionals to our corner of the state Our theme will shine a light on the power of collaboration and guests will be surprised and delighted from the moment they arrive.

The travel industry drives over $850 Million into the local economy, supports several thousand jobs, and has shown a growth trajectory more than doubling in the last decade Working together, we can continue this trend and showcase why Ohio Wine Country is so much more than just a beverage.

Ohio Wine Country

For several years, the Lake County and Ashtabula County Visitors Bureaus have partnered to promote the Grand River Valley winery region, with great success in trademarking the area as Ohio's Wine Country.

This messaging has led a large majority of our marketing efforts, resulting in an exponential increase in visitor engagement, media, and overall visitation. The initiative continues with an emphasis on the wineries, vineyards, and attractions in the surrounding region.

A combined $1 million in American Rescue Act Funds were earmarked by the two counties to further promote the Grand River Valley. Advertising and marketing efforts have integrated. Ashtabula County will wrap up its portion of the ARPA campaign in the coming year after having established a series of robust campaigns promoting Northeast Ohio's viticulture region. The Conneaut Creek appellation will soon join this campaign as it receives proper Federal recognition as a premier grapegrowing region

Going forward, Ashtabula County has adopted the Ohio Wine Country identity to lead marketing initiatives. The term has been trademarked and the experience is supported by over 30 wineries and the production of over 60% of Ohio’s grapes.
