How to Use This Guide
Enjoy three types of winery experiences in the Grand River Valley
At Signature wineries, guests can expect to find rows of vineyards growing grapes used to produce Grand River Valley estate wines. Inside, wine sampling is encouraged to help guests make a selection that suits their taste (please note that Ohio law requires a charge for samples). Food choices are available for pairing; wine always tastes better with food! Signature wineries are open 5-7 days a week.
Artisan wineries are small-scale wine producers that focus on producing highquality, handcrafted wines. These wineries are characterized by their emphasis on traditional and manual winemaking techniques, attention to detail, and commitment to producing unique and distinctive wines. Guests can expect a light menu to pair with their wine experience.

Sweet! It's Ice Wine Season!
What is Ice Wine?
Ice wine is a sweet dessert wine made from grapes naturally frozen on the vine. This unique process requires very cold temperatures (about 17°F or lower) and a late harvest.
How Ice Wine is made:
• Harvesting: Grapes stay on the vine until frozen, usually in late fall or early winter.
• Freezing: Water inside the grapes turns to ice, concentrating sugars, acids, and flavors.
• Pressing: Frozen grapes are pressed, yielding a small amount of very sweet juice.
• Fermentation: The concentrated juice ferments slowly, creating a rich, sweet wine with bright acidity.
• Characteristics: Ice wine is intensely sweet yet balanced, with vibrant fruit flavors, golden or amber color, and lower alcohol (9–12%). It’s typically served as a dessert, paired with rich dishes, or used in cocktails.
