When Bubba Jenkins joined the Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West Board of Directors in March, it was a natural extension of his lifelong commitment to home building and community service. As a board member, Jenkins collaborates with other dedicated leaders to support the organization’s mission—providing safe, affordable housing to families in need. His role involves strategic planning, community engagement, fundraising, and oversight, ensuring that more families have access to the stability and dignity of homeownership.
But Jenkins’ connection to Habitat goes far beyond his recent board appointment. As the owner of Jenkins Homes in Mandeville, he has spent nearly two decades building homes and advocating for the industry. His journey began as a teenager working alongside his father in residential construction—a hands-on education that shaped his career and his passion for helping others.
“I’ve seen firsthand how a home can transform a family’s future,” Jenkins shares. “Whether it’s through my work with Habitat or my own company, I love knowing that I’ve played a part in helping someone achieve the American dream of homeownership.”
Beyond his local work, Jenkins has served in leadership roles with the Northshore Home Builders Association, the Louisiana Home Builders Association, and the National Association of Home Builders. Through these positions, he has advocated for policies that support affordable housing while navigating the challenges of rising costs and regulatory barriers.
“The biggest challenge we face is making housing accessible without getting buried under layers of regulation,” he explains. “Government regulations account for nearly 24% of the cost of a new home, making it harder for working families to achieve homeownership. It’s a mindset we need to change.”
“I love knowing that I’ve played a part in helping someone achieve the American dream of homeownership.”
Jenkins’ dedication to his community doesn’t stop at housing. He has served on the Advisory Board for the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, taught Bible study at First Baptist Church of Covington for over a decade, and even helped raise funds for Habitat through the Raising the Roof for Charity Foundation.
Outside of his professional commitments, Jenkins is a devoted husband to his wife, Beth, and a proud father of two daughters. Whether they’re traveling, enjoying wine in Bush, or cheering for the Saints as longtime season ticket holders, family is at the heart of everything he does.
For Jenkins, being part of Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West is a chance to give back to a community that has given so much to him. “This parish has been home my whole life. It’s where I learned to build, where I’ve raised my family, and where I’ve built a business. Giving back is just part of who we are.”

This is undoubtedly a highly productive and collaborative effort with one of Compass’ topperforming groups in the region exactly as Glenn ‘Chip’ Gardner and Herbert Dubuisson envisioned when they transitioned from leadership back into client service three years ago.
Gardner and Dubuisson were selected as the exclusive members of the Board of Regents to represent Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate throughout Greater New Orleans and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast; they have assembled a group of experienced and highly-skilled professionals.
In 2024, they were the second highest producing group in their Louisiana office, and for the second straight year, the company’s top producing team in Mississippi. They were voted Best Residential and Commercial Real Estate Agents in the New Orleans CityBusiness Reader Rankings and named Top 50 agents by volume in the publication’s Book of Lists. “We’ve assembled a group of icons and rising stars in our industry,” Dubuisson said. Gardner added, “Cumulatively, their effort surpasses the knowledge, skill and experience of the market when searching for the best representation in the purchase or sale of residential or commercial real estate with thousands of successful transactions. Gardner is a fourthgeneration broker and Dubuisson, a second-generation broker.
Gardner has over 20 years of experience in the residential and commercial real estate industry. He chose to transition from executive leadership into full-time client advisory services. He was the youngest professional in the Gulf South to attain his collective credentials and has received numerous professional honors locally and globally.
Dubuisson was also born into a real estate family and has been helping families, organizations, and agents achieve their goals since 1999 and holds many professional designations. Dubuisson also transitioned into client advisory services after nearly a decade of leading offices and regions for Gardner and Latter & Blum.
Third-Generation Realtor Mallory Morse Goorley is the granddaughter of Mrs. Kay Morse, a St. Tammany Parish real estate mainstay for decades. She founded her Re/Max Northlake Properties in 1980. Mallory is the daughter of longtime Compass Mandeville Managing-Broker, Priscilla Morse.
Pat Burgoyne has been licensed since 1977 and a top producer since 1983. She began her career working for the iconic Gertrude Gardner Realtors in Slidell and has been aligned with the Gardner family since. Pat transitioned to leadership and served as Gardner Realtors Director of Relocation and a Managing Broker in the Mandeville office and Bay St. Louis office.
Susan Blakely, the group’s business manager, is the undisputed dean of real estate administration in our region. At just twenty-two years old, she began her career with the Gardner family and served as the Slidell lead administrator for 32 years. “We are certainly grateful to have her wealth of experience and support again.” said Herbert Dubuisson.
Nathan McCartney, Dubuisson’s brother-in-law, serves as the group’s buyer’s agent and duallylicensed assistant.
Herb Dubuisson, a Mississippi Gulf Coast Powerhouse in real estate and Herbert’s father, began his career in real estate in 1974 and opened his firm shortly after. Through growth, mergers and acquisitions, it became the largest brokerage in the state in 2000 and dominated every market it served from conception until Dubuisson’s retirement from ownership.
Gardner and Dubuisson are two of the most successful and well-known professionals in the industry. Their stories have shaped the Greater New Orleans and Mississippi Gulf Coast markets and continues the combined 150-year legacies of Gardner’s greatgrandmother—the iconic Gertrude Gardner and his father, Glenn—and Dubuisson’s parents—Herb and Patsy.

The Northshore Area Board of REALTORS® celebrated top-performing agents at its annual Awards Banquet, recognizing 2024’s standout sales achievements. Guests enjoyed a relaxing lunch, valuable networking, and heartfelt moments with peers and affiliates. The elegant gathering highlighted the dedication and excellence of real estate professionals across the Northshore.
With a degree in nursing and over 13 years of experience in the medical device industry, I bring a deep commitment to service, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex situations—skills that seamlessly translate into real estate. In both healthcare and sales, success hinges on understanding the needs of multiple stakeholders, from patients and physicians to support teams. Real estate is no different. Whether working with buyers or sellers, I pride myself on managing all aspects of a transaction with professionalism, empathy, and a solutionsoriented mindset to ensure a smooth and successful outcome for every client.
What makes me different from other realtors- I’ve built a career around care, trust, and meaningful connections. I’ve always been drawn to people- their stories, their goals, and the moments that shape their lives. Nothing brings me more fulfillment than knowing I’ve made even a small positive impact. That’s why real estate is such a natural fit. Whether you’re buying your first home or selling a place full of memories, I’m here to guide, support, and ensure your experience is as smooth and rewarding as possible.
I've been fortunate to have many positive influences throughout my career, but one of the most impactful was my first manager when I transitioned from nursing to the medical device industry. He took a chance on me, and I’m forever grateful for the doors that opened because of his belief in my potential. More than professional skills, he taught me the value of making people feel seen, heard, and supported—and that you should always operate as though you're being held to a higher standard. That lesson has stayed with me and aligns perfectly with the culture at Sotheby’s International Realty. At Sotheby's, we are committed to delivering a level of service that is thoughtful, refined, and exceptional in every detail, which makes it the ideal place for me to bring those values to life for every client I serve. 215 N Columbia St. Covington, LA 70433 o 985.200.4802
In a world where stories of survival often remain hidden, Unbranded shines as a beacon of hope for those who have endured unimaginable trauma. Founded with a mission to serve survivors of sex trafficking who have been branded—quite literally—with tattoos that mark ownership, Unbranded offers a path to healing through stateof-the-art laser tattoo removal.
The journey began with a moment of realization. The owner of First Down Healthcare & Aesthetics already had the technology for tattoo removal in their office. But a chance encounter turned it into something far more meaningful. Inspired by a program helping ex-convicts remove tattoos for a fresh start, the team at Unbranded saw another urgent need—helping survivors of sex trafficking reclaim their identities. A conversation with Courtney Lewis and a moving seminar featuring a trafficking survivor turned that idea into action.
Today, Unbranded has treated 43 survivors, providing over 350 free tattoo removal treatments. For these survivors, the process is more than just a cosmetic change—it’s a journey toward freedom. One survivor described it as a chance to reclaim her life, shedding the painful reminder of a past she didn’t choose.
But the road is not without challenges. Unbranded’s biggest obstacle is fundraising. With a team of board members who have little experience in grant writing or fundraising, the organization relies on the support of its community. The cost of each tattoo removal can range from $3,000 to $5,000, a significant expense that the organization is committed to covering for survivors.
Community support has been a lifeline. From local businesses to charitable foundations like the NFL Referee Association, Lavigne Oil Company, Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation, and others, each donation brings Unbranded one step closer to providing a fresh start for more survivors.
Looking ahead, Unbranded dreams of expanding its reach. Their long-term vision is to purchase a portable laser and a vehicle, allowing them to travel across Louisiana and offer tattoo removal to survivors who cannot reach their Metairie office. It’s an ambitious goal, but one that aligns with their unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Unbranded invites the community to get involved, whether through educational initiatives, fundraising support, or connecting them with grant-writing experts. They are also seeking partnerships with organizations willing to host events or provide financial support.
In a world where healing is a journey, Unbranded walks alongside survivors, one laser treatment at a time. Because for these survivors, it’s not just about erasing a mark—it’s about reclaiming their identity and finding hope again.

The idea for Garden Spot of Mandeville began decades ago when Judy King started growing ferns in greenhouses on her property, in Bush, Louisiana. Ferns take a while to grow to a size in which they are sellable and so Tommy, King’s husband, started growing vegetables to sell since they are faster and smaller. It was at this time he realized the potential of growing annuals and perennials and selling them to friends.
Word began to spread and people from all over started coming to the greenhouses in search of beautiful plants. They eventually had the idea to open The Garden Spot of Franklinton, an outdoor store created to sell locally grown, quality plants. The store became very popular, enticing people from all over and so the King’s decided to open a store in Mandeville to reach a larger audience.
Thus Garden Spot of Mandeville was born and today both locations are run by Tommy and Judy’s daughter, Sandy, and her husband Tony. Just as they started, annuals and perennials are still grown at the local greenhouses and both locations continue to serve their communities well with high quality, locally grown plant materials and expert customer service.
Garden Spot of Mandeville is a family-owned retail garden center, offering customers a wide selection of high-quality products. Our annuals and perennials are grown at our nursery located in Bush, Louisiana, and our shrubs and trees are sourced from local nurseries so you can rest assured that your plants are coming directly from the grower to you.
Libations galore were pouring into gold chalices for the annual Girod Street Stroll. Along the entirety of the popular old Mandeville street were booths of specialty drinks, snacks and vendor foods, and live music. The golden cup bearers got to vote for best drink for the annual business association prize.

Who in your life influenced your decision to become a teacher?
I think I knew by late elementary school that I wanted to be a teacher. In high school I had amazing teachers and once I realized I was pretty good at math, everything fell into place.
What is your biggest challenge as a teacher?
My biggest challenges as a teacher are getting students to not give up and to know it's okay to make mistakes. I try to help students realize it's okay if you don't get something the first time. If you don't get it right the first time, let's try to figure out where the mistake is and keep working.
What do you find most rewarding about teaching?
What I find most rewarding is when we are working on a difficult lesson and I get to see the "light bulb" go off. The smiles they have once they understand something difficult are very rewarding.
How do you make learning engaging and fun for your students?
I hope I make learning engaging by incorporating different ways of learning. Varying between traditional lecture, partner work, group work and class discussions, I hope to have each student engaged in a way that helps them the most.
If you could leave your students with one lasting message, what would it be?
After spending a year in my class, I hope my students know they are capable of anything if they are willing to put in the work.

Goldfish Swim School in Covington celebrated its first anniversary and National Water Safety Month with a free family-friendly pool party. For Erin Cefalu Troxclair, motherhood and photography go hand in hand. What started as a weekend hobby while teaching first grade has blossomed into a thriving full-time photography business in downtown Covington. Nestled above Columbia Street's Tap Room, her studio space is filled with light, charm, and the warmth of someone who has poured her heart into every square inch.
Erin’s work captures life’s most meaningful moments— from newborns and seniors to family portraits and milestone memories. Years of late-night online classes, saved-up camera upgrades, and experimentation have helped her refine a signature style rooted in warmth, natural light, and emotion. She credits her background in education for helping her work with kids and parents alike, making photo sessions relaxed, memorable experiences.
“To be accomplished at anything is to lead with love, sacrifice, and intention.”
Now a stay-at-home mom and full-time business owner, Erin is embracing the flexibility that entrepreneurship allows. “I want my children to see that I can be their mom and still get excited about something I love,” she says. Her three kids—Grace (6), Eli (4), and one-year-old Emma Cate—have been part of many photo sessions themselves, and her home is a place where creativity, faith, and family meet.
While her photography career has flourished, Erin considers her most important accomplishment being “Mom.” Inspired by her own mother’s selflessness and support, she strives to pass on the same legacy to her children. “To be accomplished at anything is to lead with love, sacrifice, and intention,” she shares.
Sunday church and family days, one-on-one date nights with each child, and daily conversations without distractions are a few of the rituals that define the Troxclair home. Erin says these quiet moments have taught her to be a better listener—and ultimately, a better mom.
Flexibility, she adds, is the biggest lesson she’s learned in business and in motherhood. Whether it’s adjusting sessions around the weather or her kids’ schedules, she’s learned to move with grace through life’s unpredictable rhythm. “It’s a give-and-take sort of math problem,” she laughs, “but my kids always know they are my number one.”
At 35, Erin is living proof that passion, perseverance, and prayer can build a beautiful life. With God at the center, she’s capturing memories for others while making plenty of her own along the way.

Kalysta Ariana Sahinen and Chase Allen McDougal’s love story is one that shines with romance, laughter, and unforgettable memories. After dating for just under four years, the couple’s journey led them to one magical moment at Houmas House. Beneath the golden light of the courtyard, Chase proposed during golden hour— an unforgettable moment framed by a little golden cherub, making the entire setting feel like a scene straight out of Italy. Nervous but determined, Chase didn’t quite make it to one knee, and his short, sweet speech brought tears to Kalysta’s eyes. Saying “yes” was the easiest thing she’s ever done.
Their engagement lasted a year and seven months, culminating in a breathtaking wedding day at the Greenwood in Covington, where both the ceremony and reception took place. Kalysta walked down the aisle in a stunning three-piece ensemble that perfectly blended modern and vintage styles—a corset top paired with a silky underskirt and a tulle overskirt with dramatic bustles. Sourced from Saint Bridal and found at Unbridaled New Orleans, the gown was a modern interpretation of an 18th-century masterpiece. Her bridesmaids wore pale yellow, and the floral arrangements were a dreamy combination of ivory with a hint of blush.
The celebration was filled with joy, beauty, and a touch of humor—like the moment Kalysta’s bouquet toss went a little too far, striking the main chandelier in the Greenwood ballroom. Fortunately, someone managed to “catch” it off the floor, and the laughter became a sweet memory for everyone. The couple’s fashion choices were another standout element of the day. Chase donned black lizard cowboy boots, and Kalysta encouraged her bridesmaids and mother to express their own style, making the event feel uniquely personal.
For Kalysta and Chase, their wedding wasn’t just about the gorgeous decor or their bold fashion—it was about bringing together their massive families and closest friends. Even loved ones from England made the journey to celebrate their union. The outpouring of love and support they received was a true testament to the strength of their relationships and the depth of their love for one another.
Their five-tier wedding cake was a vision of elegance, with smooth white icing and delicate wafer paper orchids and roses sourced from Etsy. The cake featured a classic white flavor with almond frosting—simple yet timeless.
After the celebration, the couple embarked on a dreamy honeymoon at the One & Only Mandarina, where they created even more memories they will cherish forever.
Now, Kalysta and Chase are enjoying married life in Baton Rouge with their two beloved dogs, grateful for all the love that surrounded them on their wedding day and the beautiful life they are building together.

n recognition of the tireless support they give to St. Tammany Health System and its patients – to the tune of more than 16,418 volunteer hours in 2024 alone – health system leadership paid tribute to members of the St. Tammany Hospital Guild on April 30 with a “Name That Tune”-themed luncheon at Tchefuncta Country Club in Covington.
“You are the face of St. Tammany Health System,” STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman said in welcoming those guild members in attendance. “So, I want to say thank you not only for what you do every day but for the way you go about doing it, with joy in your heart. Our patients feel that.”
In addition to a catered lunch and recognitions for service milestones, guild leadership presented their annual gift to the nonprofit St. Tammany Health Foundation, this year in the amount of $72,670, a record.
Among the guild volunteers singled out for individual honors were Daniel Brady, who has contributed more than 9,000 hours of service; Joyce McHenry, who marked 35 years of service; and soon-to-be-nonagenerian Judy LaCour, who, in a surprise presentation, was named an STHS Ambassador for the first quarter of 2025.
In keeping with the day’s theme, guild members participated in an STHS version of the classic TV game show “Name That Tune” hosted by Patient Experience Manager Shirley Primes.
They were also treated to a keynote address from New Orleans broadcaster LBJ, whose remarks aptly celebrated the spirit of volunteerism.
“We see you. We thank you. You are making a difference every day,” he said, adding, “Community doesn’t exist without helping each other.”
