The 10 best 2018 classic car events in the USA Arizona Auction Week, January 15-21, Phoenix, Arizona Let’s start with the biggest auction week of the year. In January, the Phoenix area hosts seven major sales Cavallino Classic, January 24-28, Palm Beach, Florida If you’re a big fan of the models from Maranello, you simply must attend Cavallino at least once in your life. It’s a celebration of everything Ferrari, from the marque’s latest offerings to the historic sports and racing cars that made it the brand it is today Amelia Island Concours, March 7-11, Amelia Island, Florida Amelia Island is the all-time top concours for many US car collectors Copperstate 1000, April 7-11, Phoenix, Arizona There are quite a few vintage rallies in the US, including the Colorado Grande and the nation’s top driving event, the California Mille. Yet in many ways the Copperstate 1000-mile rally is the best The Race of Gentleman, June 8-10, Wildwood, New Jersey The Race Of Gentleman – or TROG as it is known – celebrates the golden age of American hot rodding. Bloomington Gold, June 21-23, Indianapolis, Indiana Bloomington Gold is for the Corvettehead what Cavallino is for the Ferrari collector. It’s a celebration of everything ’Vette – the model’s history, engineering, beauty and significance to the world. Porsche Parade, July 8-14, Osage Beach, Missouri Much like Cavallino and Bloomington Gold, the Porsche Parade is a celebration of all things from this single marque

Chairman’s Report Well as most of you will know there are no changes, our committee stays the same for the next 12 months

As discuss at our last meeting we will be having a Progressive dinner in the very near future instead Of the mid-winter dinner We need a few volunteers to help set this please let Me know if you can help. Thanks We will start with drinks and nibbles Soup Main meal (at club rooms pot luck dinner) Sweets Coffee and or tea and biscuits It has been suggested we hire a bus or a mini bus

Kohler at Road America, July 19-22, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin We think of this event as the way vintage racing used to be. Held at Road America, one of the US’s most storied and beautiful race tracks, it brings together some of the greatest cars ever to turn a wheel on a circuit

To save parking problems

Monterey Car Week, August 22-26, Monterey, California Of all the events for classic sports car lovers, Monterey Car Week is the single must-attend event in the US, if not the world. The week features no fewer than six concours, including the Carmel Concours on the Avenue, Porsche Werks Reunion, Quail Motorsports Gathering, Legends of the Autobahn and Concours d’Lemons. It culminates in the fabled Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Garage raid (Timaru 4 august)

Fall Hershey, October 10-13, Hershey, Pennsylvania The AACA Fall Meet in Hershey is an amazing spectacle. It’s one-part swap meet, one-part car-sales corral, one-part AACA show and one-part auction

COMING EVENTS Progressive dinner (Saturday 7th July) Swap met (sept 1st ) Waimate Wallaby rally (9 feb) Film nite 3 passes and 3 gorges run (oct nov ) Daffodil day 20th August National day (1st weekend after daffodil day 26th ) (continued next page)
