November 2025
The Club’s main event for the year was a great success. Weather beautiful on the day. Plans were disrupted by the horrific storm on 23rd October that I am sure we do not wish to remember. The entrants made the day wonderful. I was privileged to be passenger with Judy & Maurice Lloyd in the 1959 Ford Zephyr. Thanks go to Gary & Sue Beaumont for taking the entries under trying times, Martin Dodge for stepping in and assisting, Robin McCall and his band of helpers for the hours spent getting everything right for the day. South Otago Town & Country Club for the venue, food and hospitality too. Raffles were well supported, with grateful thanks to the businesses that donated items. Kathy & David were well organised once again, many prizes going to the visitors.
Reporter Nick Brook did a great article for the Clutha Leader keeping the Club in the public eye. The journey took us to Clydevale along the river road, short route going through Popotunoa on to Clinton, long route travelled past the Rugby Club grounds, Punnett’s Road, Burkes Ford Road on to Waipahi Road, Miller road then on to Clinton to the home of the Mackie’s on Hillfoot Road for the Lunch Stop. The garden setting perfect for picnics. David has a terrific collection in his shed, paintings he has done among other items. This homestead property has been in the family for a Century.
