Secretary’s Scribblings First of all, I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone from the Branch who have called, sent flowers, emailed and sent cards since the untimely passing of Sharon on the 23 rd May. You will probably know that Sharon had a very aggressive cancer of the bile duct and unfortunately there was nothing the medical profession could do for her. I would also like to thank Kevin and Cath, Alan and Jan, and Rob for providing Model A’s for her funeral, and to Kevin for taking her on her last ride in a Model A after her service. I was unable to attend the Branch AGM on 30 th May, but I believe there was a very good turnout of members. So; Welcome to Cath Millar as Club Captain and John Russell to the Committee. Thanks to Jim Mclean for your duties as Club Captain over the past 2 years. Also, Congratulations to John Armiger and David Bruce on presentation of your 60-year certificates. From our Committee meeting on 2 nd June: Kelly was unable to be with us as he has been undergoing treatment in Christchurch, so lets all wish Kelly a speedy recovery. The wicker side chair on the Ace motorcycle in the museum is in very bad repair, with borer infestations over time doing the main damage. Ron Hebberd has offered to take on the project to refurbish this so thanks to him for this. Trevor said some of the motorcycle members were concerned that many of the pre-war bikes don’t get an airing these days, so the group is looking at having an extra monthly run for these bikes. The Branch needs to appoint a second representative on the Brayshaw Heritage Park Committee so if anyone is interested, please let Don Laing or Kelly know. Don is secretary for this group. There is a review of the Incorporated Societies Act through Central Government being conducted at the moment. One of the clauses talks about a Societies Assets if the Society ever closes. The Branch has decided we need to consult with a lawyer to look at the implications of this. We as a Branch of the VCC need to be able to keep our collection in Marlborough in the unforeseen and (we think) unlikelihood of our branch ever closing. Now that the She Oak trees have been removed, the replanting of this area will be in consultation with the District Council Parks and Reserves people. The Council have agreed to pay for part of the cost of removing these trees. Concern was expressed at the meeting about the difficulty some members are
