Please remember to check your “spam/junk” folder and ensure that electronic@villanovacollege.ca is on your contact list. Edsby The School’s primary communication tool is Edsby. Community First Together, we will be able to meet any challenges that may arise and accomplish our mission of providing our students every opportunity to meet their academic, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs during this critical period in their growth and development.
Respect for School Communications & Deadlines
Parents and guardians are asked to respect school deadlines and complete and submit all requested forms/information by the due dates. All deadlines will be strictly enforced.
Communications - How to Stay Informed Electronic Communications To communicate most effectively and in an environmentally friendly fashion, physical mailings will be limited. All parents have already been automatically added to our electronic communication system, through which they will receive the weekly newsletter, “School Notes,” and special notices.
School communications and deadlines are critical. Parents and guardians are asked to thoroughly read all school communications to ensure that they are up to date with new information and important messages.

In the event that an emergency (including an emergency declared by a government body such as the Government of Canada, Government of Ontario, York Region, or York Region Public Health Department) results in the partial or complete closure of the School, it may be necessary for Villanova College to adopt a remote learning model (VVC).
In VVC, teachers will provide instruction and learning activities for students to complete at home. Some instruction will take place synchronously, that is via live, two way communication (i.e. MS Teams). Teachers will also provide asynchronous learning activities, which students will complete independently. In addition, regular teacher student check ins will occur, community time will be facilitated, small group virtual meetings and scheduled tutorials will continue.

In order to provide the best care to our students with severe allergies, we are asking parents to please fill out the Anaphylaxis Care Plan found here This form is for those students who have anaphylactic allergies and require an epinephrine auto injector (epi pen). Students should bring two epi pens to school at the start of the year: one to stay with them, either in a fanny pack or in their backpack/locker, and the other to be kept in the main office. It is advised that middle school students always have their epi pen on their person.
• Staff and students with symptoms or suspected cases in the household should stay home as per the Ontario Isolation Guidelines.
• As per Ontario guidelines, if a household member is isolating due to COVID, vaccinated students/staff may come to school but will be required to wear a mask for the duration of their household member’s isolation plus 5 days. Unvaccinated students are required to isolate at home with their household member for the duration of the isolation period and will be required to wear a mask for 5 days after their return.
Suspected or Confirmed COVID 19 Protocol Families should always follow the Ontario Isolation Guidelines. Up to date isolation guidelines can be found by accessing the Ontario government website here.
In September, the school nurse will confirm receipt of the epi pens, as well as the dose and the expiry date. The nurse will notify parents/guardians at that time if the epi pen is set to expire during the school year. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to ensure that an expired epi pen is replaced prior to the expiration date. A printed copy of the care plan will be kept with the epi pen for easy access to the information in case of an emergency.
You may forward completed forms to the school nurse, Ms. Jenny Carrier at nurse@villanovacollege.ca or you can send a printed form with your child’s epi pens on the first day of school. If you have any questions, please email the school nurse, Ms. Jenny Carrier at nurse@villanovacollege.ca
