Darly Satcher and Batya Emunaw Walker say yoga’s for everyone – regardless of race By MICHAEL ROMAIN Editor
From the COVID-19 pandemic that has forced many people into quarantine to the country’s fraught political divide, 2020 is the year of stress. And now, perhaps more than ever, people need to breathe. “But most people don’t breathe properly,” said Daryl Satcher, 44, of Oak Park. “We’re born breathing the right way. New career spaces come to Proviso East, Proviso West D209 officials held ribbon-cuttings for new culinary lab at East, Advanced Manufacturing Lab at West By MICHAEL ROMAIN Editor
Earlier this month, District 209 officials cut the ribbon on a new Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Proviso West in Hillside and an industrial-grade culinary
lab at Proviso East in Maywood. Both spaces are part of the district’s college and career readiness programs. ceremonies held at each school on Nov. 17. “This is a beautiful facility, a beautiful lab,” said D209 Supt. James Henderson before guiding community leaders on a tour of the East culinary lab. “Every child will not attend college and that’s perfectly OK … This is a viable option.” Theresa Kelly, the District 209 board vice See D209 on page 6
