After D209 student’s suicide, concerns raised

During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 9, the District 209 school board held a moment of silence for a 16-year-old Proviso Math and Science Academy (PMSA) student who died by suicide earlier in the day. In a YouTube video, District 209 Supt. During a luncheon hosted by the Hillside-Berkeley Chamber of Commerce
and Industry on Nov. 9, Berkeley Village President Robert Lee delivered a state of the village address as a few dozen attendees dined on complementary meals provided by Berkeley’s Super Taco Express, 5807 St. Charles Rd. in Berkeley. The luncheon was held at Berkeley’s Village Hall, 5819 Electric Ave. Lee said residents can look forward to two new business openings in the coming weeks and months. The Dream Event and Space and Modern Banquet Hall is due to open in the old Luis & Luigi’s Restaurant, 5245 St. Charles Rd. Shaun Sharma, the banquet hall’s owner
who was in the audience during Tuesday’s luncheon, said he hopes to start taking reservations this week. Another new business, a branch of First Financial Credit Union, will open inside of the old U.S. Bank at 5401 St. Charles Rd. by January 2022. Two vice presidents with the credit union, Dan Butterworth and Stephanie J. Bertelsen, were in the audience at luncheon. Afterward, they hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking with village officials outside of the branch location as construction crews worked on the buildout.
