The village of Maywood’s Board of Trustees is likely to pass an ordinance requiring that people wear face coverings in public or face a fine of at least $100 whenever they violate the mandate. The board was likely to approve the measure at its next regular meeting on Feb. 16, which was scheduled to take place after this publication’s print deadline. Maywood Mayor Edwenna Perkins introduced the proposal at a regular meeting on Feb. 2, roughly a week after Village Free Press reported on a COVID-19 outbreak inside of the Maywood Police

was charged last week with three counts of possession of child pornography has resigned, Bellwood Police Chief Jiminez Allen said on Feb. 15. Chief Allen said Bellwood Commander John Trevarthen resigned from the department on Feb. 11. He did not comment further on the incident, beyond an earlier statement the village released and referred questions to the Lombard Police Department, which is conducting the investigation into Trevarthen.
