All relay teams will also represent the school on Championship Night 31st October, 1973. Our principal, Mr. Moore, at a team luncheon, praised all team members, not only "A" winners, but all of the competitors on a fine team effort. Space unfortunately does not allow us to list all of the boys who gained certificates on this day.

SPECIAL SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONOURS 1. Ian Fry's sprinting powers enabled him to gain a Rotary, Exchange Scholarship to Hamilton Canada. 2. Maurice Contessi appears to have lost little ability in the athletic world, with four "A" certificates. 3. Bruce Kiley's eight certificates involving the Javelin, Triple Jump, Hurdles "A", Long Jume as well as 2nd placings in four other events. 4. Leonard Balcam again became a member of the All Technical Schools cricket team. 5. The Basketball team (Tuesday p.m.) also deserves special recognition for under Mr. K. Burbridge (International Basketballer) they won the open "A" division shield Western suburbs and also the U/18 team shield Western suburbs. Credit must go the boys on their initiative, as they organized this team between themselves with the help of other students in the Western region. 6. The soccer teams All-Tech. Premership, which is a fine achievement by the boys. 7. Our Gym club which was started by Mr. Hoare this year saw all our boys who entered for Junior "C" grade standard tests passed and thus becoming eligible to enter "B" grade Victorian championships in 1974.

Well done Steven Barnett IC, Jeffrey Jolley IC, Geoffrey Phillips 3F, Trevor Johnson 3F and Alex Scarpaci ID. 8. Ex-students and local achievements were:- Frank Pocervina and Shane Kilpatrick who both played with Footscray under 19's and Reserves in Football. Also of note was that Ian Wickson this year made Footscray's Senior team. Well done Ian. In concluding this report I must express my appreciation to all staff members for their efforts during the year. Without the staff's backing over the last four years both I and the students in general would not have been able to run a sporting programme within the school. With Mr. Moore, Mr. McLean and Mr. Maxwell's backing, and the great efforts put in by my staff members in Physical Education Department my job as Sportsmaster has been a lot easier this year. Play is involvement, and I hope time over the holidays is used well, and all students enjoy their break and return safely. G.D. Calverley (Sportsmaster)
