Welcome to a New Season It’s nearly time to celebrate at The Playhouse as friends and family come together to share the festive season with a trip to the pantomime. This year’s production is set to be a huge family spectacular as Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs hits our stage in December.

Prior to pantomime we have a wealth of shows to keep you laughing out loud, dancing the night away and performances for all the family.

We have a great selection of comedy from Jimmy Carr, Roy Chubby Brown, Cannon & Ball, Tim Vine and more, be sure to book quickly to avoid disappointment!

This season is also jam packed with excellent music shows, That’ll Be The Day will bring their new show in October, along with their hugely popular Christmas Special in December. Other fantastic highlights include The Three Degrees, Jane McDonald, The Drifters, The Sensational 60’s Experience and many more.

The little ones will be delighted with The Gruffalo’s Child, Awful Auntie and Little Baby Bum Live. A great selection of family shows for all ages.

The Shaolin warriors Direct from China, the legendary Shaolin Warriors return to the UK in 2018, punching, kicking and tumbling in a spectacular and dynamic production.

The ultimate masters of Kung Fu, this touring group of Buddhist Monks present a martial arts and oriental dance experience featuring ordained Soldier Monks from the Shaolin Temple in China’s Henan Province.

In a crescendo of Kung Fu sequences displaying speed, precision and impeccable co-ordination, the Shaolin Monks are lifted aloft on sharpened spears, splinter wooden blocks with their hands, are sandwiched between beds of nails and knifes, and fly through the air in a series of incredible back flips and spins.

Eliot, Cats tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as ‘the Jellicle choice’; deciding which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.

The first performance of Cats was in 1981 and it introduced the song ‘Memory’ to the world. It’s travelled round the globe and been translated into 20 different languages.

Weston Operatic Society is beyond excited to be staging its version of this epic production at Weston’s beautiful Playhouse Theatre.

Suggs

What A King Cnut - A Life In The Realm Of Madness Due to huge popular demand, after his first tour-deforce, smash hit, sell out tour, ‘My Life Story’, Suggs is treading the boards again with a brand new show.

If the first show was about how on earth he got there, Suggs: What a King Cnut is about the surprises that awaited him when he did.

With help from Deano his trusty pianist, he tells his story in words and music with the help of some Madness classics and a couple more what he wrote all on himself.

We are a voluntary organisation established to promote and support the theatre. The Friends have contributed towards many key features of the theatre such as the stage curtains, grand piano and stair lift. The Friends have also played a vital part in modernising the theatre; funding the cost of a new PA system and installation of LED lighting throughout front of house and the bar.

The Friends also provide volunteer staff to take tickets, sell programmes and welcome patrons upon visiting the theatre. Additionally they assist with marketing and promotions, organise social events throughout the year and host Saturday coffee mornings.

Members are entitled to a 15% discount off the top ticket price (excluding booking fee) for shows stating Friends of the Playhouse discount - one discount per member. Application forms are available in the foyer.
