Building and Campus Operations

Infrastructure and Sustainability is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the grounds, buildings and utilities at Victoria University. Our department oversees an extensive portfolio, ensuring the campus is safe, efficient and compliant with all regulations. We focus on sustainability, risk management, capital renewal and seamless facility operations.

Services We Provide

Maintenance requests: handle repairs, equipment malfunctions and facility upkeep

Operational risk management: address risks that impact campus operations

Long-term capital renewal projects: planning and executing infrastructure improvements

Campus Safety and Emergency Management

Campus Safety and Emergency Management provides safety and security services to all students, staff, faculty, librarians and visitors to the Victoria University campus. We have 24/7 security guards on site to assist with any issues, access, hazards and protection of Victoria University property and assets.

Access to buildings and rooms as required

Attend requests as required and escalate to appropriate agencies

Communications and Marketing

Communications and Marketing is the centralized storytelling hub for Victoria University. We celebrate our students, faculty, librarians, staff and alumni through robust channels such as website, social media, e-newsletters, printed publications and other printed materials. The department leads the communications and marketing strategy for the organization.

Events and Space Management

The Events and Space Management team supports academic, event and venue bookings, ensuring smooth operations. We optimize Victoria University's historic and modern spaces while upholding high standards. Whether it's planning, scheduling or co-ordination, we bring your event to life.

Finance and Payroll Services

Finance and Payroll Services plays a vital role in Victoria University's financial operations. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and Bursar, we oversee financial policies, procedures and processes. The department also handles payroll for more than 700 fulltime and part-time staff. As a key part of daily operations, we support department heads, budget managers and business officers, ensuring clarity and compliance with financial complexities.

Accounts payable services: payments to vendors, honorariums and expense reimbursements

Grant management, monitoring and reporting

Food and Catering Services

Food and Catering Services comprises Burwash Dining Hall, Ned’s Café and the department’s own catering operations. We are responsible for the production, sales and service of all food and beverage items on Victoria University's campus. Burwash Dining Hall and Ned’s Café work together to offer a variety of delicious and flexible dining options for students, staff, faculty and librarians.

Burwash Dining Hall: offers an all-you-care-to-eat dining experience featuring a diverse and innovative menu

Ned’s Café: provides a convenient quick-service dining option with a range of grab-and-go items

Victoria University Catering Services: operates its own independent catering division dedicated to planning and executing events

Front Desk, Residence and Parking Services

We serve as the central hub for all campus operations, access control and safety. This involves responding to maintenance alarms as well as housing and campus parkingrelated inquiries. We also manage summer operations, which include housing and the guest house, to ensure a comfortable stay for all students, summer residents and visitors.

Library Services

The Victoria University Libraries includes Emmanuel College Library, E.J. Pratt Library and the Victoria University Archives and Art Collections. We collect and lend a wide variety of print and digital resources. We assist faculty and students make the most of the resources available at both Vic Libraries and Archives and the University of Toronto Libraries.
