This course is ideal for students seeking freelance careers within the fine arts. Graduates may gain employment in a range of fields that are linked across fine arts, particularly in the fields of printmaking, painting, arts administration and other related areas.

T

his course is designed for students who wish to pursue a freelance career within the fine arts fields of photography, printmaking and painting. Graduates may gain employment as self-sufficient artists across this broad field. Study at this level includes a range of relevant specialist practical and theory subjects, and several Arts Business modules. Students gather and refine skills in areas such as digital and analogue photography and imagemaking, painting, printmaking, drawing and exhibition design. Classes take place at the Epping campus, with some parts of this course also delivered at the Preston campus. Students will study:

• photomedia (photography) • painting • digital imaging • drawing • art history • art criticism • exhibition design • arts business • occupational health and safety (OH&S) procedures

Admission Requirements General: successful completion of studies equivalent to Australian Year 12 education or relevant employment experience. English language proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS overall band score of 5.5. See page 13 for more details. Specific: • applicants in Australia are required to attend an interview and present a folio* • applicants applying from overseas are required to present a folio* * Information about folio preparation can be provided by the International Office.

Students benefit from a range of relevant specialist practical and theory subjects and several Arts Business modules. Successful graduates enter the industry with skills in areas such as painting, printmaking, digital imagery, exhibition design and drawing. Classes take place at the Preston campus, with some parts of this course also delivered at the Epping campus. Materials Students must pay a AU$750 materials and membership levy upfront at the start of the course (fees to include registration or memberships to relevant peak industry organisations and events). Some materials are supplied. Students should expect to spend approximately AU$2,000 on additional materials as required throughout the course.
