MAPI NZ also awarded Simrat Gill the new Miss Multinational New Zealand 2018. She will be going to New Delhi in December to represent New Zealand for which she is extremely excited. She works as a regulatory compliance engineer at Fisher and Paykel Healthcare and loves her job. She will represent New Zealand in the Miss Asia Pacific International 2018 pageant to be held in the Philippines! Dubbed as the “mother of all pageants in Asia”, the organisation will celebrate its 50th golden anniversary.
It is a pageant that prides itself for being “uniquely different" as well as celebrating “beauty in diversity”. During the national coronation night, the national directors have decided to change the bikini part and swap it to activewear, displaying the candidates’ respected yoga moves instead, calling it a first for beauty pageants.

Brooke and the other candidates have been working together as a team of inspiring young women whose mantras are about empowering others.

Brooke Rachel Houia was crowned Miss Asia Pacific International New Zealand 2018 on 12 May at the Mangere Arts Centre. Brooke is currently studying event management, and is a certified makeup artist and an early childcare assistant. She is no stranger to pageants as she won Miss North Harbour title in 2015 and was crowned Miss Universe New Zealand, first runner-up in August 2017. Being of Maori descent, showcasing her Te Whanau a Apanui iwi culture is paramount to the confident 20-year-old.
