is the happy mother of two. She was born and raised in the city of Detroit, where she graduated from M.L. King High School, and majored in biology at Alabama State University. Shayla is enthusiastic about education and the value of personal growth. Shayla firmly believes that everything is achievable with knowledge, perseverance, and faith in God. She sincerely feels that "a mind is a terrible thing to waste!"
Shayla has faced numerous difficulties in life. "I struggled and grieved at the concept that I've failed at life, as a mother, daughter, and a friend to many," Shayla said. Shayla was certain that things will improve because of her trust in God and commitment to becoming a great mother.
Shayla relocated back to Detroit in June 2014 and made the decision to start over. She concentrated and found a career in Human Resource thanks to her education, excellent customer service abilities, and willingness to support and set wonderful example for her children.
Shayla started her company Unik I Am in April 2019 to encourage and inspire young girls, single parents, and women. Shayla cautions women not to allow past mistakes and poor judgment limit or definethem. She accomplishes this by giving motivating speeches, discussing on many platforms her journey from being a homeless single mother to Director of HR, and selling Unik I Am accessories. Along with small business HR support, Unik I Am also offers resume assistance to those looking to further their careers.


Shayla Unik has given presentations as a guest at a variety of gatherings for local vendors and women's empowerment. She co - authored her first book in 2022 and went on to become a #1 Best-selling author.

R: How would you describe your journey of becoming the woman and CEO you are today?
S: My journey was anything but simple. Numerous challenges and tragic incidents result in shattered circumstances rather frequently. I, however, refused to let those things limit or define me I persisted in moving forward while praising God and holding on to Proverbs 3:5–6
R: What would you say is most rewarding in what you do?
S: I've always enjoyed assisting others! I get a lot of joy from being able to connect with people by sharing my experience and hearing theirs, seeing entrepreneurs breath and smile after receiving the HR help they didn't realize they needed When When updating resumes, customers' smiles and appreciation let me know they are at ease with my sincere involvement And seeing young girls use Unik I Am items to express who they are makes me realize I'm living my purpose
R: What advice would you give someone who wants to transition from being an employee to entrepreneur?
S: Make sure you're going to step into your calling and not simply a hustle before making the shift There will be days when you want to give up even if the change sounds and appears to be simple God will immediately toss the towel back at you to wipe your face and continue if you are sincerely carrying out your calling, though Your best allies will be prayer and perseverance! Get a network that will help you accomplish your net worth by planning ahead!

R: What are three traits you feel an entrepreneur must have?

S: 1 You must be personable Being able to relate to customers/clients will not only gain the "sell", but it will also allow them to gain your trust!
2 Be open to constructive criticism Every day is a day to improve Be open to improving

3 Have faith and patience with yourself Some days can be lonely, but those are the days you have to show up for YOU!
R: How do you persist in the face of challenges within your business?
S: When facing challenges, you sometime have to take a step back It's okay to ask for help When faced with challenges, I find that as a good time for me to research I look into how others solve the same or similar problem I also look at my those in a similar field for motivation These things help me to keep going
