CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT AUG27,2022 10:30AMTEEOFF DONNA SQUIRE INTERNATIONAL NURSING STUDENT BURSARY A day to celebrate Donna Squire; a devoted mother, wife, nurse, and teacher. Donna made a difference in so many ways. Today, we honour her drive, determination, and exceptional qualities as an educator. WWW.DONNASQUIRELEGACY.CA

TH First, Thank You very much for coming today and supporting the Donna Squire International Nursing Student Bursary through your participation and support in this charity golf tournament.

An international nursing student pays over $28,000 per year in tuition and this Bursary can help ease some of that financial burden.

If someone would have asked me sixteen months ago if this is where I would be standing or that we would be all rallied around to support this cause, the obvious answer is Unfortunately,‘no’.

Again, I would like to acknowledge the support of everyone here today, our dedicated tournament committee and volunteers, everyone who donated to our silent auction, the financial support of all our sponsors, as well as everyone who has contributed to the Bursary in one form or another.

our reality changed and while going back is not an option we look for ways to make good things come from bad situations. That is exactly what I believe this Bursary has been for the recipients, the college, for Donna’s legacy, and for the Squire family.

On June 15, 2021, when the idea of this Bursary became a reality, I did not have any idea how big this would become in such a short period of time. What is special about this award is that Donna was able to see it become a reality and had input into the criteria for the successful recipients.

Donna would be so proud and just as humbled as we are by your support and love. Thank you for your support. Mark

I would like to welcome everyone here today. Thank you in participating in this golf tournament to honour the life and legacy of Donna DonnaSquire.was a long-time clinical instructor at Conestoga College between 1994 and 1999 and returned in 2011 as a part-time instructor in the Practical Nursing program. In 1996, Donna won the Chairman’s Award for developing and teaching the Home IV Therapy Continuing Education course. Her enthusiasm for teaching international students has been described as infectious, and her passion was almost palpable when it came to teaching her students. She was an inspiration and encouraged students to embrace the values of nursing. Donna was known to have a special energy and spirit when working with her students. With her big heart and vibrant personality, Donna touched so many people. Her passion, positive attitude and infectious personality also impacted the lives of her colleagues at Conestoga and Cambridge Memorial Hospital, where she was a part-time nurse on the same floor where she taught. She is loved at Conestoga College and Cambridge Memorial Hospital by her colleagues, students, family, and friends. Before she passed, Donna’s wish was to establish a bursary for nursing students. To honour her drive, determination and exceptional qualities as an educator, Conestoga College has established an annual student bursary to support students in Conestoga’s Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nursing program. Through the program, experienced, internationally educated nurses will acquire the essential knowledge and skills needed to practice within the Canadian healthcare Isystem.implore everyone to celebrate the wonderful life that Donna lived and honour her as the inspiration that she was. For more than eight years, I have worked in various departments in the hospital particularly in the emergency department in my home country, the Philippines, and overseas, in Saudi Arabia. I can vividly remember the day I received the email. I was so surprised and delighted, and I kept re-reading it because I cannot believe it myself that my name was next to the “congratulations” word. That was one of the precious moments that I have had that day that validated my value as a person, and all the efforts that I have been doing. It did not only inspire me to do better, but it also taught me that help is omnipresent, and that dreams can be achieved if you work hard for it. If given the opportunity, I will find ways to be able to inspire, teach, and learn with students someday. Most importantly, what I have been proud of, is how I have come this far, and how I have become as a person.

I understand that going through each day for the family was and is still difficult, but, I am certain that Donna is wearing her biggest smile now that, her legacy, through her loving family, to fulfill the dreams of international students, and her passion to help them and inspire others are being carried on.

Hopefully, one day, I can give back the kindness that she and the family have done even through my own little ways. The impact of giving and her innate ability to hone students will definitely illuminate and create a difference.

Mahsa Saeeda Third semester bursary recipient Receiving this award means a lot to me! It is not only helping me financially but also making me believe that there is help and support out there. This award to me means I have succeeded so far, and my hard has been seen and paid off. This award makes me more confident and motivated about my final goal which is becoming a NURSE. I love helping people as a nurse and will do my best to achieve this goal. This blessing award has assured me that I am on the right

I grew and learned, and hopefully if given with bountiful blessings in the future, I will be able to inspire and support future dreamers, just as how the Squire family and donors are doing for us, in our humble beginnings, to make the impossible, possible.
