LETTER FRO M TH E PRESI D ENT Dear Friends of Marian, As we celebrate the start of a new year, I am honored to share with you that 2013 was yet another exciting and successful year for Marian Regional Medical Center, characterized by vast expansion, positive change and awards of recognition for service and clinical excellence.

This May will mark the two-year anniversary of opening the new Marian Regional Medical Center. Since opening, Marian has continued to fulfill its promise to the community to deliver the highest level of care by continuing to invest in the most advanced technologies and the most effective treatments. We also continue to recruit expert health care professionals and physicians from the nation’s top medical schools and training programs. Within the past five years, Marian has added nearly 80 new physicians. It is Marian’s recruitment and retention of the most intellectual minds in medicine that enhances and assures we continue to deliver on our promise to provide exceptional medicine, today and every day.

As we commemorate the last 12 months, I am pleased to share that Marian is ranked as one of the top performing Dignity Health hospitals for overall quality, safety and patient experience. In 2013, Marian was honored with numerous awards and distinctions, including Level Three Trauma Center Designation, an “A” overall rating from the Leapfrog Group (a leading hospital ratings organization), and Marian was also one of only two hospitals throughout Dignity Health to be recognized for exceeding the 95th percentile for perinatal safety initiatives. Marian also received Healthgrades’ prestigious Critical Care Excellence Award for ranking among the top 5% in the nation for critical care.

In this issue we are proud to introduce you to the Marian Family Medicine Residency Program, affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) and Western University. This summer we will welcome the first class of physician residents to Marian’s campus. These top ranking medical students will begin their residency training with their medical degrees and will complete the program as highly experienced physicians. It is our plan and hope that the majority of these new physicians will choose to live and practice on the Central Coast.

You will also learn about Marian’s newly developed Neuroscience and Stroke Program affiliated with Stanford, opportunities for philanthropic giving, moving patient testimonials and innovative new services dedicated to the overall health of each patient’s mind, body and spirit. It is the support from you, our incredibly generous donors, which has paved the way for Marian’s transformation from a community level hospital to a regional medical center, offering a sophisticated level of care equivalent to major teaching centers. Together with you, our partners, we have the ability to transform the delivery of health care. A N EW ERA I N FAM I LY M ED I CI N E Marian embarks on the future of family medicine as a teaching hospital affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of USC

For generations, family medicine physicians have remained the backbone of health care, caring for entire families from birth through adulthood.

The foundation of family medicine is rooted in the development of long-term, personal relationships these devoted physicians cultivate with community members, serving as their patients’ lifetime guardians to coordinate all levels of care.

Consequently, access to primary care is essential to delivering the best health outcomes for a community since chronic diseases cannot be prevented or managed without a strong primary care infrastructure.

THE CHALLENGE Recent research predicts an impending shortage of more than 45,000 family care physicians by 2020 and it is estimated that approximately 2.6 million Americans will be newly insured as a result of Affordable Care Act legislation.

The anticipated physician shortage combined with the projected rise in insured patients and the aging American population is generating an escalating national health care issue: patient access to family medicine physicians.

THE SOLUTION In response to the growing national shortage of family medicine physicians, Marian Regional Medical Center has instituted the Marian Family Medicine Residency Program to build a strong primary care infrastructure for Santa Maria and the Central Coast. In July of this year, Marian will welcome its first class of physician residents, providing them with an inspiring, provocative and unencumbered real world learning environment that brings community medicine to a new, elevated level.

The Marian Family Medicine Residency Program is affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) and is approved for six residents per year,

for a total of 18 residents. As a dully-accredited, three-year, post-graduate program, which also includes an affiliation with Western University, physician residents at Marian will experience the entire spectrum of family medicine, from labor and delivery to geriatrics and every stage of life in between.

Dr. Robert Okerblom explains, “With a new hospital located in a vacation destination region and a large number of receptive, diverse and challenging patients, Marian’s residency program will provide an educational experience difficult to find anywhere else. Our location and new hospital provide many desirable educational and lifestyle aspects. As a result, many of the program’s residents will decide to establish practices and raise their families here on the Central Coast.”

Although Marian’s USC affiliation is crucial to providing the highest level of primary care residency training, more importantly, the USC affiliation will improve the level of health care provided to all community members.

Within just months of instituting the program, Marian received more than 150 applications from the nation’s brightest and most talented physicians who are inspired to be pioneering leaders as Marian’s first class of family medicine residents.

After applications were reviewed and ranked, the top 50 applicants were scheduled for interviews. Of the 50 interviewed applicants, only the top six matched applicants will receive acceptance to be a part of the Marian Family Medicine Residency Program’s inaugural class beginning this summer.

THE INNOVATION: PATIENTCENTERED MEDICAL HOME ACCREDITATION Patient-Centered Medical Home accreditation is the most widely recognized model for transforming primary care office operations into best practice models. As one of contemporary medicine’s most influential innovations, Patient-Centered Medical Home processes are proven to remedy fragmented delivery systems, resulting in a higher quality of care.

The Dignity Health Family Medicine Center, located on the Marian campus, serves as both a primary care physician practice and the teaching site for the Marian Family Medicine Residency Program. In an effort to train residents to provide the highest standards of patient care and practice management, the Dignity Health Family Medicine Center is currently implementing effective care processes to work towards achieving Patient-Centered Medical Home status.

“Earning Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition says a medical practice delivers exemplary patient care, emphasizing care coordination and communication,” states Richard McClaflin, M.D., Marian Residency Program Director.

“Designated Patient-Centered Medical Home sites have implemented strategic operating systems designed to streamline all care processes, resulting in improved patient outcomes and healthier, stronger communities. In short, Patient-Centered Medical Home processes focus on establishing safety nets and

prevent patients from falling through the cracks. This in turn, allows physicians to dedicate their time to the practice of medicine and developing relationships with patients.”

THE TRANSFORMATION According to the Association for American Medical Colleges, following graduation 60% of physician residents remain within 50 miles of their residency training to practice. The Marian Family Medicine Residency Program provides a landmark opportunity for the medical center to recruit and retain family medicine physicians for the community’s benefit.

“Our vision is now officially coming into focus,” confesses David Oates, M.D., Director of Medical Education, with a smile. “Not only will future physician residents drive relief to the local family medicine physician shortage, but we will also have the opportunity to teach the next generation of physicians Marian’s philosophy of care: the importance of the human side of medicine and the belief that every patient should be treated with dignity and compassion in every interaction.”

Other than grants awarded to construct or renovate hospitals countywide, the recent Innovation Grant is the single largest grant the Santa Barbara Foundation has awarded through its competitive process.

TRANSFO RM I N G N EU RO LO G I CAL CARE Affiliated with Stanford, Marian’s Neuroscience and Stroke Program innovates tomorrow’s health today for brain and nervous system conditions

Each and every year, millions of Americans suffer from disorders of the brain and nervous system. These complex and serious conditions can often be life changing and the best possible outcomes depend on rapid diagnosis and effective treatment.

To deliver this specialty care, Marian Regional Medical Center recently instituted a Neuroscience and Stroke Program affiliated with Stanford University Medical Center. Stanford University Medical Center is internationally recognized for providing the highest level of expertise in rare and common neurological conditions and Marian’s affiliation will link physician experts at Stanford with Marian physicians to evaluate complex neurological conditions. Marian’s highlyskilled team includes neurologists, neurosurgeons and various specialists who provide around-the-clock emergency care, advanced surgical treatment options and an exceptional scope of clinical expertise.

The most recent physician addition to Marian’s neuroscience team is neurosurgeon Nicholas Slimack, M.D. Dr. Slimack completed a seven-year neurosurgery residency at Northwestern University where he was the Department’s Chief Resident and completed a fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Spine Center.

“The vision for the program is to keep as many patients as possible at Marian and in their local community – close to home and close to family,” explains Dr. Slimack. “Marian is the only hospital in the region to attain an affiliation with Stanford and the caliber of this affiliation will allow the program’s potential growth to be exponential. Marian’s ability to treat neurological patients will also provide an enhanced level of support to the facility’s Trauma Services program for emergency brain and spine injuries.”

As a Stanford affiliate, Marian has access to collaboration with Stanford physicians and neurosurgeons through telehealth technology. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the affiliation connects Marian physicians with Stanford neurologists via imaging sharing technology and a life-sized robot featuring two-way live video and audio feeds. With the remote presence of robotic telemedicine, Marian has access to Stanford’s diagnosis and treatment support for optimal care without losing critical time.

Kirsten Featherstone, RN, Dignity Health of the Central Coast Neuroscience Services Manager, adds, “Marian’s newly developed Neuroscience and Stroke Program is led by passionate physicians and dedicated hospital leaders who are committed to offering a superior level of care to our community. We understand the importance of keeping our patients local. The advanced capabilities of Marian’s Neuroscience and Stroke Program will decrease unnecessary transfers of patients and will ultimately improve care for all patients.”

The Stanford affiliation will help make a positive difference in the health of all patients – from adults to Marian’s smallest and most vulnerable patients: infants. As part of the affiliation, Stanford physicians will also be involved in the reading of

electroencephalogram (EEG) tests for patients of all ages to provide an advanced level of diagnosis and overall quality of care.

Investing in Leading Technology: The O-Arm® Complex surgeries of the brain and spine rely on the precision of advanced technology. Through the generosity of community donors, the Marian Foundation recently funded $500,000 towards the acquisition of the next generation in surgical technology: the Medtronic O-Arm®.

“The decision to fund the O-Arm was driven by the need to provide the highest quality of safety and surgical efficiency to neurosurgery patients,” states Dr. Slimack. “With the O-Arm, images are made readily available to physicians during surgery in just a matter of seconds, allowing physicians to verify the location of implants while still in the operating room.”

Manufactured by Medtronic, the O-Arm Surgical Imaging System is a multi-dimensional surgical imaging platform, used for spine, orthopedic and trauma-related surgeries. The system provides physicians with real-time, intra-operative

imaging of a patient’s anatomy with high-quality two and three dimensional images. For patients, the O-Arm provides many health benefits including reduced operating and anesthesia times, smaller incisions and improved overall outcomes.

“Two million brain cells die every minute during a stroke, increasing patients’ risk of permanent brain damage, disability or even death,” states Kirsten. “Marian’s Neurology and Stroke Program offers lifesaving services for neurological disorders and its role is crucial for the health of our community.”

CU RI N G CAN CER WITH DA VI N CI SU RG ERY Just months after a cancer diagnosis, community leader Frank Ortiz is cancer-free thanks to revolutionary da Vinci Si® robotic surgery

The start of 2013 was an exciting time for Frank Ortiz. As the former City of Santa Maria Fire Chief, he was enjoying the perks of retirement. He was also busy preparing for a service work trip to Sri Lanka as the newly appointed District Governor for the Rotary International Clubs of Central and Coastal California.

Life was good, until he heard the words ‘prostate cancer.’

“It was one of those experiences you never forget,” reflects Frank.

“I knew my prostate levels were climbing, but like most people, I wasn’t prepared for a cancer diagnosis – it hit me hard.”

Frank’s father, Leonard, died from colon cancer in 2010. After the devastating loss of his father, Frank made a commitment to faithfully schedule all recommended preventative health screenings. Subsequently, when a routine prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test confirmed significantly elevated levels, Frank’s primary care physician referred him to urologist Christopher Johnson, M.D., who then performed a prostate biopsy which revealed the presence of cancer in 70% of Frank’s prostate.

Frank was immediately informed of all the available treatment options and discussed them thoroughly with both his

urologist and loving wife, Scottie. Due to his family history and his urologist’s recommendation, Frank felt confident in his decision to put his trust in Marian Regional Medical Center to undergo a radical prostatectomy with the sophisticated da Vinci Si® robotic surgical system.

“I’ve had a number of surgeries in my life and the da Vinci was unlike than any other,” affirms Frank. “The surgery successfully removed 100% of the cancer from my prostate, my recovery was so quick and I experienced only slight discomfort, opposed to actual pain.”

Since patients experience faster recovery times with surgery assisted by the da Vinci robotic surgical system, Frank was quickly back to himself in no time. Just weeks after the procedure, Frank was able to enjoy his annual family vacation to Scottsdale, Arizona to take part in Giants baseball spring training followed by a Rotary International trip to Portugal.

that traditional open surgery does not. This robotic procedure is now making it possible for surgeons to remove the prostate gland with small incisions and allows for greater accuracy and control, more than ever before.”

According to the latest research, prostate cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and it is estimated that about one every six American men will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lifetime. However, if detected early when cancer is still confined to the prostate and treated with advanced methods such as the da Vinci Si robotic surgical system, survival rates are among the highest of any cancer.

Frank adds, “Although I was only admitted for a single night, I was incredibly impressed by the comfortable aspects of the new hospital and its competent professionals who cared for me. If I can do one thing to give back for all the blessings I have received it would be to encourage other men to get checked. I was able to beat cancer and it was all made possible due to early detection and the advanced surgical technology of the da Vinci.”

Just weeks after Frank Ortiz’s da Vinci procedure, Frank and his grandson Ethan take part in Giants baseball spring training during their annual family vacation to Scottsdale, Arizona.

A VISI O N FO R TH E FUTU RE The Marian Heart Center Expansion Project

The expansion of the Heart Center will further the medical center’s ability to achieve a higher level of coordination in care for patients who require multiple procedures. This fundraising initiative will also allow for the continued expansion in patient services as new, breakthrough technologies become available.

Most recently, the Marian Heart Center Expansion Project received a significant $200,000 grant contribution from the Wood-Claeyssens Foundation, a private non-profit corporation.

The Wood-Claeyssens Foundation has a history of partnering with Marian and with this award has provided more than $1 million in support of Marian programs and services.

As an Emergency Department physician and Marian Foundation Board Chair, Al Schultz, M.D., understands the crucial need for community support of the Marian Heart Center Expansion Project.

Just within the last year, the Heart Center at Marian Regional Medical Center has seen record growth with a 21 % increase in patient volume. Marian’s increasing community cardiac needs coupled with the rapidly evolving surgical landscape, has sparked the need for an additional cardiac catheterization laboratory.

“We are incredibly grateful for the astounding support and generosity we have received thus far,” adds Dr. Schultz. “The recent Wood-Claeyssens Foundation grant funding has catapulted Heart Center Expansion fundraising efforts, but we are still a long way from reaching our goal of $1.5 million and we are in need of more supporters to step forward.”

In an effort to provide our community with the facilities, technology and medical experts of the future, the Marian Foundation recently launched the Heart Center Expansion Project, an ambitious fundraising initiative to raise $1.5 million from community donations. Campaign proceeds will fund the addition of a second state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory and the renovation of the current cardiac catheterization laboratory.

“The heart is the lifeline of the human body and heart disease is the nation’s leading killer known to strike even the healthiest and most active individuals,” states Al Schultz, M.D., Marian Foundation Board Chair and Emergency Department physician. “With rising cardiac patient volume and a greater variety of procedures being performed, Marian’s present cardiac catheterization lab is approaching the limits of its capability.

The survival of cardiac patients depends on the quality and proximity of advanced, lifesaving care.”

The inaugural CEO Business Roundtable took place in November of 2013 and focused on Marian’s Heart Center Expansion Project. At the event, hospital leadership and Marian cardiologists explained the need for Marian’s Heart Center Expansion Project and its community importance. Following the presentation and open forum discussion, event attendees toured the new hospital and the hospital’s existing cardiac catheterization laboratory.

D EFEATI N G ‘TH E WI D OW MAKER’ Routine cardiac screening exposes a silent killer

“What we didn’t know at the time was that my husband was a ticking time bomb,” recalls Linda Durocher, Joe’s wife. “We later learned that Joe’s blockage is commonly referred to as ‘the widow maker,’ known for its sudden strike.”

A bypass procedure in his left ventricle was needed to restore proper blood flow to Joe’s heart. After Joe’s discharge from the medical center, his care continued as he became a patient of Marian’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Monitoring Program where he attended education health classes and followed an exercise maintenance program.

It’s called “the widow maker” – a specific type of cardiac blockage known to kill.

With a history of heart disease, Santa Maria resident Joe Durocher is familiar with regular visits to his cardiologist, Samir Bhatt, M.D., but it was a routine appointment that became one he would never forget.

“Just the day before, I was repairing the roof of our barn with no symptoms, but when I went to Dr. Bhatt’s office as normal for my regular six-month stress test I could sense something was different,” remembers Joe. “Although I was exhibiting zero symptoms, my test results painted a much different picture.”

After interpreting Joe’s alarming stress test results, Dr. Bhatt ordered an angiogram which revealed a significant blockage to Joe’s heart. Joe was immediately admitted to Marian Regional Medical Center where he underwent further testing and was scheduled for surgery.

“The strike of my heart attack wasn’t a matter of if it would occur, it was a matter of when,” confesses Joe. “To say I was only satisfied with the care I received would be an understatement.

In every interaction, my expectations were exceeded and I now take great comfort in knowing that I don’t have to go far for advanced and lifesaving health care services.”

Joe is now fully recovered, has a clean bill of health and is enjoying retirement. Due to the prompt high level of care he received from Marian, Joe continues to work around his ranch and is making a positive difference in the lives of those he and his wife mentor through the Central Coast National Marriage Encounter, a couples and relationships workshop initiative.

“I am forever grateful to the physicians and all those at Marian who acted quickly and effectively to prevent what might have been a tragedy for our family,” professes Linda. “Although Joe did not suffer a heart attack, this was still a very stressful and worrisome time for us. Marian held our hands every step of the way and we were supported by helpful and caring people who assured us that we would get through this crucial time in our lives.”

Preventative cardiac screenings often serve as a wake-up call for those who need to improve their diet and exercise habits, but for many, like Joe, these imperative screenings identify serious health issues to defeat a silent killer.

A LEAP FO RWARD I N TU M O R ANALYSIS Faxitron technology streamlines the cancer surgery process

Determining the extent to which cancer has spread in the body is a crucial aspect of care and patients rely on precise, timely results to cure or treat the disease.

At Marian Regional Medical Center, physicians and medical professionals are continuously working to further improve the cancer care experience for patients by offering the latest in cancer diagnostics. With the rapidly changing climate of health care, technological advances are aiding in the pursuit to improve both patient outcomes and the culture of care. As part of the Marian Foundation’s vision to ensure excellent medical care for future generations, the Foundation recently invested in one such technological breakthrough: the Faxitron PathVision Pathology Specimen Radiography System.

“The recent acquisition of the Faxitron technology is an example of how Marian’s diagnostic services are continuing to grow and expand,” adds Dr. Ferguson. “This technological investment, and advanced technologies to come, will allow Marian to continue recruiting subspecialists, to offer more services and to provide a level of care equal to major academic medical institutions.”

Pathologists at Marian work directly with surgeons, oncologists and support staff, remaining involved throughout the entire process of each patient’s cancer treatment. This unique involvement between pathologists, other physicians and health care professionals allows Marian to maintain the highest quality of service from diagnosis through treatment.

The recently acquired Faxitron PathVision system is the industry’s latest and most advanced specimen radiography system featuring the largest field of view and highest resolution for evaluating laboratory specimens. Producing high-resolution digital images in a matter of seconds, the Faxitron system determines the exact location of cancer and the extent of the disease – all during surgery. Access to immediate results of the potential spread of cancer allows for modifications to be made during a patient’s initial surgery, improving clinical outcomes and decreasing the likelihood for additional surgeries to be needed in the future.

“The advantage of this new technology is immediate access to high-resolution imaging results,” explains Kevin Ferguson, M.D., Medical Director of Pathology and Chief of Staff. “With the Faxitron system Marian’s laboratory is able to offer improved assessment of tumor spread at the time of surgery. The end result is more efficient and precise analysis of tumor resection specimens for our cancer patients.”

Currently, the sophisticated Faxitron technology is the only one of its kind on the Central Coast and is recognized for its effective use in testing breast cancer specimens, although it can be used to radiograph a wide range of specimens.

The results are in! The recent Circle of Friends Employee Giving Campaign was an undeniable success with more than $136,000 raised from Marian Regional Medical Center employee contributions.

Within only a six-week period, between October 7 and November 15, 2013, more than 329 Marian employees collectively donated $136,243 – far surpassing the campaign’s initial goal of $100,000.

“We are blessed to have the most amazing family of employees at Marian. They give of themselves and their talents every day in service to our patients and families. And they give generously of their resources to support our health care ministry,” explains Stephanie Grogan, Vice President of Philanthropy at Marian.

TH E 26TH AN N UAL D I N N ER N ETS N EW RECO RD The Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation is proud to share that the 2013 Annual Dinner event was a sell-out, raising a record net proceeds total of $140,000 for the hospital’s Heart Center Expansion Project.

Taking place at Ca’ Del GreVino in Orcutt on Sunday, August 25, 2013, the Annual Dinner not only raised a record total, but was attended by 354 community members - an attendance record high for the event. The Annual Dinner’s record fundraising total represents a 44 percent increase over the Foundation’s 2012 event fundraising total of $97,118.

In celebration of the Marian Heart Center’s twentieth anniversary, all proceeds from the Annual Dinner benefitted the Foundation’s newly launched Marian Heart Center Expansion Project to raise $1.5 million from community donations.

“Given the resounding success of this year’s Annual Dinner celebration, the campaign for the Marian Heart Center Expansion Project has received an unprecedented start,” states Charles J. Cova, Marian President and CEO. “On behalf of all Marian employees, physicians, volunteers and most importantly, on behalf of our patients and community, I thank all those who invested in the health of the community by attending and contributing towards the recent Annual Dinner. The community’s generous support of our heart center expansion initiative gives the public the opportunity to not only advance local cardiac care, but to also literally save lives.”

While expertly trained health care professionals treat the medical conditions of patients, a new breed of furry, four-legged volunteers are now offering a unique dimension of care unlike any other therapy Dignity Health of the Central Coast offers.

The Healing Paws pet therapy program was initiated in the fall of 2013 at Marian Regional Medical Center, Arroyo Grande Community Healing Paws program volunteer Josanne Jackson and her two-year-old miniature Australian shepherd Morgegann visit with a Hospital and French Hospital patient at Marian Regional Medical Center.

“The hope is that the dogs’ presence creates a comforting and tranquil atmosphere that aids in healing and positively enhances patients’ overall hospital experience,” explains Judy Hoffman, Healing Paws Program Committee Chair and Respiratory Therapy Director at Marian. “Specifically, animalassisted therapy can have a positive effect on reducing patients’ stress, pain, anxiety and feelings of loneliness, which, in turn, can help further the healing process.”

Currently, the program’s caring canines and their volunteer handlers can be found at Marian four days a week, traveling from room-to-room visiting and delivering unconditional love to patients at their bedside.

“Patients really respond when they see Morgegann walk into the room,” shares Josanne Jackson, Healing Paws volunteer handler and owner of Morgegann, a miniature Australian

At present, seven dogs and nine handlers participate in the Healing Paws program at Marian. The program’s canines are registered pet therapy dogs and the volunteer handlers have completed in-depth hospital protocol training to ensure patient safety.

In addition, participating dogs are required to have up-to-date vaccinations and are bathed 24 hours prior to visiting patients.

“It is so rewarding to witness the comfort and delight our Healing Paws visits bring to our patients,” adds Judy. “We are also receiving a positive response from the medical center’s staff as well. When our four-legged volunteers walk into a room, our staff members light up just as our patients do!”

A LASTI N G LEGACY O F I NSPI RATI O N: JAN ET DAVI LA, RN Every so often an extraordinary individual comes along who touches countless lives and inspires others in special ways. Janet Davila, RN, was one of those special people.

Throughout her 35-year career at Marian, Janet was known by patients and staff alike as a respected and beloved birthing center nurse specialist and maternal educator. Her heartfelt passion for nursing was evident through her unconditional compassion for others and endearing spirit which brought warmth to her patients.

As a melanoma cancer survivor, Janet was also passionate about supporting local cancer patients and she remained dedicated to volunteering her time and energy to spearhead countless cancer fundraising events. Janet was also a supporter of Mission Hope Cancer Center, never thinking she would need the integrated oncology facility’s services as a secondtime cancer patient.

In August of 2011, Janet was diagnosed with a rare cancer. She turned to Mission Hope where coworkers devotedly cared for Janet and her family. Although Janet’s cancer took on an aggressive form, she never gave up, embracing her positive “can-do” attitude to battle the disease until her passing in September of 2013.

In the midst of her family’s grief, Janet’s husband, Joe, and their three daughters graciously designated memorial gifts in Janet’s memory to Marian Cancer Care at Mission Hope and to Maternal and Newborn Care Services. Even in her passing, Janet’s legendary nursing and community advocacy legacy continues to inspire others as gifts in her memory are now making a positive impact in the lives of Marian patients.
