URBAN INSEART

In the Urban Insert Studio, I learned the significance of designing sensitively in Ahmedabad, near architectural icons, Sanskar Kendra by Charles Correa and Tagore Hall by B.V. Doshi & NID (by Gira and Gautam Sarabhai). The experience taught me how to respect their legacy through thoughtful scale, form, and language, ensuring my design harmonizes their presence.

In this Studio, I explored the challenges of building within the dense concrete fabric of Varanasi’s ghats. Facing threats like seasonal flooding, I learned the critical importance of adaptive architecture, contextual sensitivity, and sustainable water management, key lessons in designing resilient structures for complex, layered urban environments.

I participated in a hands-on sustainable construction workshop at the Laurie Baker Centre, Kerala. I gained practical experience in building wattle and daub walls, jali mud walls, brick walls and arches, bamboo structures, and stone walls with L and T junctions, deepening my understanding of eco-friendly building techniques.

CULTURAL MANIFESTATION

Through the collaborative program “Cultural Manifestation,” I explored the streets and Kovils of old Ahmedabad, gaining insight into how people co-live in dense neighborhoods. I learned about the significance of shared and in-between spaces that shape social bonds, everyday rituals, and the unique cultural fabric of these historic communities.

FURNITURE DRAWINGS

what makes architects, different from the rest of the world, is that they see the world through a different lense and a different perspective.

to capture that essence of the view is also an art in itself, which stimulates that train of thought is also an integral part of an architects life.

All the learnings and the hands on experiences we learn in these 5 years, comes handy when you dive into the real world. with a keen mind, i had tried to take upon my self a task of indulging in a project which i handeled all by myself, this was a wonderfull experience which made all those re-do’s and sleep less nights worth it.
