Haters

By: Jimena Arevalo-Godinez

Haters, how they bring us down With their actions that make us frown Do you find joy in inflicting pain? Or perhaps you're just feeling vain?

Your words cut like knives, with wounds that don’t heal So why try to spread this kind of deal? Does it make you feel controlling or strong? Or do you think that everything you do isn’t wrong?

But do not let their hatred weigh you down, For they are but shadows in an otherwise bright town, Be strong even when they try to hate And rise up to a higher state

For love and light will always prevail, And the haters' venom will surely be pale, In the light of our resolve, To stand tall, strong, and always evolve.

Embrace

By Jahsiah Clarke

There are things in life that we don't enjoy, That we'd rather avoid than to employ. They may be small or they may be great, But they tend to fill us with hate.

It could be a food that we can't stand, Or a movie that we find bland. It could be a chore that we must do, Or a person that we don't want to pursue.

Dislikes are a part of life, it's true, But they don't define who we are or what we do. We can choose to focus on the good, And let go of the things that we should.

So let's embrace the things we love, And let go of the things that don't fit like a glove. Life is too short to hold on to hate, So let's choose to love and appreciate.
