Dandelion
from Moore VOICE Magazine
By Hannah Lopez
She was like a dandelion in a field of them during spring
She wasn’t different from them
She would talk only when needed
She would only work; never time to enjoy herself She didn’t have many friends.
But then came winter and she looked and acted the same But she was the only one alive
She felt lonely, and didn’t care as much about her work
But she really wasn’t alone like she had felt.
She had her friends with her
She started to talk a lot more
Her laughter was what you would hear in a quiet room
She always had a smile on her face, even if she didn’t mean it Her grades went up, even when she wasn’t trying anymore.

She still was the flower in the fields
But now she was brighter like her smile She had grown thorns to protect herself From the animals in the field.
She changed for herself not someone else
She doesn’t want to change for anyone but herself
She was a dandelion that could change for her own good Because she was the only one she could trust in the end.
