The Raven
from Moore VOICE Magazine
By Justin Abankroh
The raven is a quiet boy that roams the towns in the alleyways where he lurks. The boy was very unusual; he would roam the streets with a crow. The boy is a quirk.
Nobody really knows who the raven is. We can only sense his presence. As the raven sits on the curve people pay him no attention in his well being. People stroll past him and nobody sense the reference. Today people are heedless. It's almost scary; they do not care for the things that do not concern them. The danger around them does not unsettle them with their headphones in tuning out the sounds of the world. It blocks almost like phlegm.
What’s in a Name
by Melanie Barera Escobar
I was given a name since I was born With that name I am to stay Never knowing what it means. I go on in life wishing to know, but how could I know When no one tells how to find its meaning.
At first I go, never paying attention Time is rushing in, only 3 more years of school I should know.
I found some twins but none are exactly like me None have my same interests, so they can’t help me Many people have tried to give me advice But my name isn't something they can figure
Now reaching to 8th many people say Don't worry you will know Don’t stress, but I can't help it Living in constant distress in the wording of what's next Trying to read between the lines but I only see blank What can I do and what will I do if its not spelled out

Suddenly that's all they ask “What's your name?” Not knowing what’s behind it All I can do is say what was given to me
One day I will find the meaning of what was given to me But till then I won't stop being me!
