Community Hero Youth Community Hero By Krystal Glenn When I think of HEROES my son comes to mind. At the age of 4 he was diagnosed with a benign jaw bone tumor condition that usually happens to adults. He taught me about being a parent and helped me understand God's assignment for me as his mother. We learned together how to overcome the obstacles like surgery, dealing with emotions, communication, responsibility and showing love and gratitude for all our blessings. It gives me great honor to let Elijah know that he is truly a hero in my eyes and to show the world all that he is made of! Krystal Glenn (KG): What is your name and how old are you? Elijah Starks (ES): My name is Elijah Starks and I am 10 years old. KG: Give just three words to describe yourself ES: Artistic, funny and adventurous KG: What grade are you in and what school do you attend? ES: I am in 5th grade and I am homeschooled. KG: What is your favorite subject in school? ES: My favorite subjects are math and art. KG: Who is your role model and why? ES: My mom. She is an artist and it makes me want to do art too. KG: What do you like about being a youth? ES: I like to be a kid because you get to go places and discover things. KG: What is the hard part about being a youth? ES: The hardest part about being a kid is that someday you will grow up and won't be a kid any more. 10 Vision & Purpose Community Magazine
