Job Posting General Manager Closing: November 30, 2012 The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) brings together members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirited and Queer community, their friends, allies and supporters in celebration! We represent the unique culture and spirit of our community by producing quality, inclusive events such as the Pride Parade and Festival.

Summary The VPS is looking for a dynamic, organized and highly motivated individual to fill the role of General Manager (GM). The GM is responsible for running the administrative and operational functions of the organization, including fundraising, communications, volunteer, event and financial management and outreach to community groups and other organizations. The role is based at the VPS office but may require travel throughout Vancouver and occasional travel outside the region. Reports to the Board of Directors Executive Personnel Committee. Full time salaried position.

Job Duties ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣ ‣

Implementation of Board policy and decisions in a manner that is consistent with the mission and values of the VPS Monitoring and overseeing financial management and budget preparation of the organization Motivate, supervise, work with and delegate to both paid and volunteer staff Research, cultivate and coordinate community and corporate partnership opportunities for the Society including annual industry scans Act as a main point of contact for partner’s questions and requests Maintain regular and timely correspondence with partners and affinity programs regarding revenue generation and deliverables to ensure that operational targets are met Create and update partner packages, templates and agreements Negotiate partnership contracts Ensure that all partnerships and affinity programs are correctly processed and tracked internally to ensure that benefits are communicated with the membership and community in a timely manner


Education and Experience (minimum requirement) ‣

Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in business, management, sales, development (or equivalent)

Minimum 2 years in a social enterprise or not-for-profit organization an asset A history of designing and implementing financial, communication and marketing strategies and organizational development initiatives Demonstrated knowledge of large event management including entertainment, liquor and food service Strong ability to exercise sound judgment and diplomacy Superior leadership and organizational skills Proven track record in revenue generation Ability to work with diverse and sometimes competing communities and perspectives Superior written and verbal communication skills set Strong organizational, facilitation and negotiation skills Media relations, public relations, and marketing experience Strong administrative skills and background Results oriented, collaborative and solution focused.
