INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Bachelor of Engineering, 4 years, 240 credits


he degree programme in Information Technology prepares students for demanding careers in the industry. The students gain professional skills and a strong theoretical basis that are much needed in the rapidly changing environment. Graduates have the competence to work in positions within design, research, production, marketing and product development in the fields of electronics and information technology, and are able to work as international experts in export companies or as independent entrepreneurs.

The degree programme provides a wide course selection. The education relies on the modern facilities of VAMK, the education and research laboratory Technobothnia and the high-level expertise of the lecturers. Cooperation with the working life gives students good possibilities for taking part in projects with the local industry throughout their studies.

he degree programme in International Business provides the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the demanding expert and leadership positions. The students gain know-how and the ability to operate and adapt in a constantly changing international business environment.

The studies consist of active problem-based individual and teamwork learning tasks dealing with marketing, management and foreign trade issues. Co-operation with the industry provides authentic work-related cases that are integrated into the studies in form of various learning assignments and projects.

Graduates are employed as managers or experts in various international organizations in the fields of marketing, export and import, forwarding, transportation and custom clearance.

Our students also have the possibility to study a Double Degree in one of our four partner universities in Germany, Poland or France.

Practical training is an essential part of the degree. The Vaasa region offers a diverse and international environment to practice skills.

ADMISSION Applying to programmes conducted in English at Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences takes place through a system of joint application. The application form will be submitted online:


An applicant is qualified to apply to VAMK after having completed the upper secondary examination, European Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate or Reifeprüng examination, vocational qualification of three years or more in duration, a non-Finnish degree or studies equivalent to these qualifications. Citizens of non-EU/ EEA countries must have completed their studies by the end of the application period. EU/EEA-country citizens can apply if the qualification is completed during the spring applying. Please find requirements at VAMK webpage

Language test

Excellent skills in English are required for success in degree programmes provided in English. The applicants’ language proficiency is assessed in the entrance examination. For a more detailed description of the examination, see the admissions criteria for specific fields. When applying to a degree programme provided in English, the applicants need not submit evidence of language proficiency.

Entrance examinations

All applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility and language skills will be invited to the entrance examinations. Entrance examinations will be arranged in Vaasa, Finland and in several countries abroad. The details about the countries and places in question will be informed to the applicant in the invitation letter and on VAMK webpage

Entry permits

Students from EU/EEA countries do not need to apply for a residence permit in order to enter the country. Students from outside of EU/EEA countries need to check whether they need a residence permit or not from their local embassies. All students from non EU/EEA countries have to have a health insurance policy that covers the costs of medical care. The health insurance must be in force upon entry into Finland.

Financial issues

Tuition fees at VAMK will be introduced for non-EU citizens that commence studies in Finland 1.8.2017 onwards. The fees will not concern those non-EU/EEA students who • have started their studies before autumn 2017 • are enrolled in Doctoral/PhD level studies and research • study in degree programmes taught in Finnish or Swedish • are EU/EEA citizens or their family members (spouse / child) • are already residing in Finland on a permanent basis (i.e. are equivalent to EU citizens -> continuous (A) or permanent (P/P-EU) residence permit type or EU Blue Card

Student accommodation in Finland is of a high standard and rather easy to access. The apartments and rooms include central heating, household appliances and free internet access.
