Route 66 Blowout Turns 25 Sapulpa Main Street hosts cars, art and shopping in annual downtown celebration on Saturday, June 7. By Christopher Davis

Summer in Sapulpa would not be complete without a celebration downtown. On Saturday, June 7, Sapulpa Main Street hosts the 25th annual Route 66 Blowout. The Route 66 Blowout is one of the most popular downtown events in Sapulpa, and boasts one of the largest car and truck shows in the region. With entertainment and activities for the whole family, thousands descend upon the town to socialize, shop and take in the sights. The Blowout is truly a community affair, sponsored by local businesses, showcasing local artists and vendors, and coordinated by Sapulpa Main

Street, with proceeds going toward beautification of the downtown district. “We’re excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Route 66 Blowout,” says Cindy Mc Donald, executive director. “It’s great to run into old friends. Everyone has a good time catching up.” The event is well-known for its car show, showcasing classic and modern cars and trucks. “There should be about three or four hundred cars out there,” says Mc Donald. Entries will compete for bragging rights and prizes. Registration is available (continued on page 22)

Joel and Kendra Wiland have been in the jewelry business for nearly 25 years. They opened up the Broken Arrow branch of J. David Jewelry in 2001, and are opening a second location at 101st and Memorial in south Tulsa on May 5. This new store, however, will embody a completely new experience for customers. “We wanted to take one part Apple, one part Starbucks and one part Disney,” says Landon Wiland, marketing director for the familyowned stores. “At Disneyland, you never hit a barrier – you feel like you can go anywhere, and that’s what we want to bring to our customers’ experience.
