MEDICARE ANNUAL WHY THIS
BY VALUENEWS.COM
The annual Medicare Open Enrollment (AEP) period is October 15th to December 7th, 2025. If you or someone you know are beneficiaries, you should carefully review your current plan’s Annual Notice of Change to see how these updates will impact both coverage and costs. This is the one time of year you can make changes to your Medicare Advantage Part C plan or Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. There have been significant changes in available carriers, plan shifts, and major benefits.
Wife and husband duo, Abrina and Alex Tarasenko of Everything Insurance Group, are a licensed family-owned insurance agency located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their company has served clients for over 10 years and takes special interest in Medicare coverage options. They could help simplify the review process for you due to their extensive knowledge about vital Notices of Change and related coverage updates.
The group is informed and delivers sound advice because they are experienced in various Medicare coverage related needs - including the nuances that can impact coverages associated with individuals who are fully retired, veterans, currently employed, tribal members, and those who are nearing their 65th birthday. Their hearts are in each client interaction. TRUST is paramount in their agency and conveyed in everything they do.
“Recent Medicare updates have created a shift. These updates have affected plan benefits, out-ofpocket costs and the overall enrollee experience in the 2026 calendar year,” explained Abrina. “These core changes have made a crucial impact on what beneficiaries can expect in 2026. The good news is that there are new coverages with networks and benefits not previously offered.”
Some new Medicare Advantage plan offerings include plans for cardiovascular disorders, chronic heart failure, and diabetes.

CREATIVITY POWER OF AND ITS HEALING
In a homey studio filled with a variety of flowers, ribbon, décor items, greenery, ornaments, Shannon Mayville, An Array of Wreaths located in Claremore, Oklahoma, carefully creates her spectacular wreaths and florals. Her selections span a variety of colors, textures, interests and design styles. Her life today feels miles away from her former life as a nurse practitioner, a career she dedicated herself to for over 25 years. Yet, in the careful placement of each ornament and ribbon, she sees a familiar purpose: bringing optimism, comfort and care to people’s lives.
Shannon’s journey from the sterile, high-pressure world of medicine to the vibrant, natural medium of floral design was not a sudden pivot, but a slow-blooming realization. The years had taken their toll; the emotional weight, sudden health problems, and long hours had left her feeling drained and creatively unfulfilled. “I loved my patients, but my health issues were real,” she explains. “I needed a way to reconnect with beauty and hope, something that felt like I was healing myself, too”.
Hope Through Creativity
Her creative outlet began simply: crafting seasonal wreaths and selling them online. Almost immediately An Array of Wreaths blossomed into a successful business as more people saw her distinctive designs. Shannon’s wreaths and centerpieces were different—they were made of vivid materials, overflowing with varied textures and unique ornamental elements, and they told a story. Her medical background, it turned out, had prepared her in unexpected ways. “The precision and attention required in my old job directly translated to my work now,” she says. “Just as I carefully monitored a patient, I’m meticulous about using superior materials with balance, texture, and longevity of every arrangement.”
Joy Through Beauty
This holiday season, Shannon’s, “An Array of Wreaths,” is bustling with orders for her signature creations. She works with a variety of upscale elements. Each piece is a thoughtful, handcrafted

work of art. From her popular rustic neutrals to designs that burst in merry color palettes, each design features a refined mix of enhancements. Her stylings range from subtle to show-stopping. She also offers custom designs, working with customers to create a bespoke piece that perfectly suits their home.
For Shannon, the greatest reward is seeing the joy her creations bring. “As a nurse practitioner, I helped people feel better. Now, I get to do it in a different way, by bringing a piece of festive beauty and the spirit of the season right to their front door”. She believes that creativity, like medicine, has the power to heal and transform. “This isn’t just a business for me,” she reflects, “it’s a prescription for a more beautiful life which allows me to create items that bring me and others joy.”
Locally, Shannon’s unique designs are sold from her home workshop located at 20707 S. 4170 Rd., Claremore, Oklahoma and can be ordered directly from An Array of Wreaths and shipped nationally.
You are invited see, touch, feel and experience these florals in actuality… Open hours are Thursdays from 4 pm to 7 pm; Fridays and Saturdays 9 am to 1 pm; also, by appointment by calling or texting: (918) 884-4850. AVOID THE DANGERS OF NEGLECTING FIREPLACE MAINTENANCE
What You Can Do and What You Should Leave to Cornerstone Chimneys
Fireplace safety requires a combination of routine tasks that a homeowner can perform, as well as services that should be left to the professionals at Cornerstone Chimneys.
Each year, chimneys, fireplaces, wood burning stoves, and dryer vents are some of the leading causes of residential fires. Some of these fires are preventable with professional care.
Cornerstone Chimneys, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a veteran owned, firefighter founded business with over 45 years’ experience helping homeowners enjoy their fireplaces without compromising safety. The company is a trusted name and serves homeowners throughout Oklahoma. They are passionate specialists in chimney related challenges such as chimney fires, earthquakes, lightning strikes, age deterioration, tree damage, wind, hail, and water problems, to name a few. They are also the go-to experts for building your perfectly amazing outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens!
Their goal is to protect you, your home, and family.
Cornerstone Chimneys utilizes interior and exterior comprehensive camera inspections to provide you with specific details about the health and safety of your chimney and fireplace. Additionally, they are a top installer of HEATSHIELD, a cutting-edge mortar used to
restore the integrity of chimneys. “Our team approaches every job with the latest tools, technology, and training from the Chimney Safety Institute of America,” emphasized Kathy.
Fireplace and Chimney Risks
• Chimney Fires: The leading cause of chimney fires is the build-up of flammable creosote, a tar-like substance created by burning wood. According to the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), over 25,000 chimney fires are reported annually in the U.S., causing property damage, injuries, and deaths. Kathy warned, “Bird nests, tree debris, and lack of maintenance can also lead to dangerous chimney fires”.
• Carbon Monoxide Exposure: A clogged or damaged chimney can prevent proper ventilation, allowing dangerous, odorless carbon monoxide gas to leak into your home. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, carbon monoxide poisoning from combustion appliances results in an average of 150 deaths per year.
• Water Intrusion: This one may be surprising, but expensive property damage can occur when water leaks through a chimney. This often-overlooked entry point can lead to rusted pipes, erosion of critical mortar joints, and damage to walls and ceilings.
Homeowner Action Steps:
• Go outside and look at your chimney: Do you see a covering on the top of the chimney? Notice any cracks or missing bricks? Do you see wood rot, missing paint, or holes in the wooden chase?
• Burn only dry seasoned wood: keep your outdoor firewood covered.
• Use a fireplace screen.
• Properly manage fires: Build small, manageable fires that burn completely and produce less smoke. Place logs at the back of the fireplace on a grate for proper support.
• Ensure ventilation: Make sure the damper is fully open before lighting a fire and keep it open until all embers are completely extinguished. If your fireplace has glass doors, leave them open while the fire is burning.
• Practice smart disposal of ashes: Use a metal container with a tight-fitting lid to store fireplace ashes. Store the container outdoors, away from your house, and do not dispose of ashes in a trash can, even if they appear cool.
• Safety devices: Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors should be installed in your home. We also recommend having fire blankets and a fire extinguisher.
Tasks to Leave to a Cornerstone Chimneys Professional Some services and repairs require professional certification, specialized equipment, and necessary expertise making some fireplace tasks unsafe to perform as a do-it-yourselfer.
• Annual chimney inspection for BOTH INDOOR AND OUTDOOR FIREPLACES AND CHIMNEYS: The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the CSIA recommend having your chimney inspected annually by a certified professional.
• Chimney cleaning (sweeping): Cleaning your chimney is an inherently dangerous task that involves working at heights on a roof and exposing yourself to toxic creosote. Cornerstone Chimneys use specialized equipment and protective gear to ensure correct and safe cleaning.
• Repairs: Cornerstone Chimneys professionally handle your custom repair with safety and efficiency in mind.
• When disaster strikes: Inspections after a malfunction, chimney fire, lightning strike, or other severe weather event that could have caused damage.
Cornerstone Chimneys specializes in chimney building,
repairs, inspection and cleaning; dryer vent cleaning; full masonry rebuilds, fireplace removal and installation, wood-burning to gas log conversions, wood stove installation, hearth and fireplace facing remodeling, wood chase and siding replacement; along with real estate chimney inspections for buyers and sellers.
Outdoor Fireplaces to Full Kitchens
Cornerstone Chimneys are the ultimate professionals for creating or updating your outdoor spaces. Your new dedicated outdoor space is created with your vision in mind and built with integrity for long-lasting functionality and pleasure.
“Creating a dedicated outdoor relaxation space with a fireplace offers significant benefits for your home’s value, mental well-being and social connection,” explains Kathy.

As a local non-profit, Safenet strives to create a safe, healthy and supportive environment for individuals and families healing from the consequences of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
This year, the Festival of Trees is more important than ever. Safenet Services’ home office in Claremore experienced a devastating flood from a sewage line back-up. The building is under renovation, and the shelter is inoperable. For the time being, Safenet’s employees have been relocated to a temporary office to continue outreach services and keep their crisis line open for survivors in Rogers County.
What is The Festival of Trees?
The Festival of Trees is a holiday-themed dinner and auction gala that serves as a beacon of hope, bringing together a community dedicated to the well-being of others. This enchanting evening is not only a celebration of the season, but also a pivotal fundraising opportunity.
Being a formal event, guests are asked to dress in semi-formal attire. For those purchasing a general admission ticket, the price will include one seat at a non-reserved or sponsored table, a nonalcoholic beverage and a plated dinner followed by dessert. This
ticket also gives attendees the opportunity to bid on or purchase any live or silent auction items. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase for those who are 21 years of age or older.
With a variety of donors and sponsors, the silent and live auctions will not only include many unique items, but also experiences, just in time for the holidays. Of course, there will be several intricately designed and decorated trees and wreaths going up for auction as well.
Join Safenet in Providing Safety and Healing
The Festival of Trees illuminates the path toward a safer and more secure future for those served by Safenet Services, marking it as their most significant fundraising endeavor each year. By attending this event, guests and sponsors directly contribute to the well-being and safety of survivors.

THE MUSIC MAN- NATIONAL BROADWAY TOUR
MARCH 24, 2026
There’s trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy THE MUSIC MAN follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. Featuring songs such as “Seventy- Six Trombones,” “Ya Got Trouble,” “’Till There Was You,” “Pick-a-Little” and “Gary, Indiana,” THE MUSIC MAN is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.
