M

ai come oggi nella storia degli uomini l’identità di genere fu messa in discussione. In un cammino evolutivo inverso, se volete dissolutorio – con una componente assiologia negativa – stiamo tornando a quella mitica creatura unica e androgina che assommò a sé il principio maschile e femminile. Nel Simposio di Platone, Aristofane ci narra di questo terzo genere “non figlio del Sole come gli uomini, non figlio della Terra come le donne, ma figlio della Luna, che della natura di entrambi partecipa”.

Questo mito antichissimo ci parla di un uomo assoluto, pieno, completo ed autosufficiente, in grado di sfidare persino gli dei e tentare la scalata all’Olimpo. Un affronto punito dall’autoritas di Zeus con la riduzione e separazione dell’essere androgino nelle due metà maschile e femminile.

Mito romanzato dalla letteratura, abusato dalla filosofia ed impoverito dal cinema – quella delle creature androgine è in realtà è un’allegoria archetipale fondante che ben si adatta alla moderna società occidentale dove, nei fatti, la cura della casa, delle faccende domestiche e dei figli è demandata ad entrambi ed in egual modo, l’uomo si ingentilisce e la donna si fa intraprendente, proiettandosi verso il mondo esterno con determinazione e carisma tipicamente maschili.

La coppie stesse sono concordi: in una recente indagine Istat (nel 90% dei casi) dichiarano come “un uomo e donna che lavorino a tempo pieno debbano contribuire nella stessa misura al lavoro familiare”. Unanimità domestica? Idilliaca comunione di intenti? Non proprio.

La casa e la famiglia sono spesso il luogo di una frustrazione ormai istituzionale, con uomini impanucciati smarriti dietro a padelle e biberon e donne in tailleur che distrutte, alla sera mettono i piedi (ed i soldi!) sul tavolo. Le quali, con questa vittoria provvisoria in tasca, si avviano ad una battaglia di genere di cui spesso non sono affatto consapevoli. Ma vittime, per così dire, di una revenche e di un ressentiment ancestrali.

Per non parlare della sfera etica e pedagogica dove è stata introdotta la locuzione “gender” che, da dizionario, sottende l’appartenenza ad uno dei due sessi dal punto di vista culturale e non biologico (?!)

Ma chi sono queste nuove creature ed i loro epigoni? Novelli esseri androgini forse, come nella notte dell’umanità? Lasciatemi dubitare. Siamo molto lontani dalla creatura perfetta delle origini, mirabile arcaica coesistenza di tutti gli attributi, l’altissima coincidentia oppositorum di Mircea Eliade.

L’uomo moderno è tornato dunque ad essere uno e perfetto.

Ma per dissoluzione, non per virtù.

T

oday as never before in the history of humanity gender identity is being questioned. In a reverse evolutionary path, a dissolutionary one if you like – with an axiologically negative component – we’re returning to that mythical unique androgynous creature which contains within itself both the masculine and the feminine. In Plato’s Symposium, Aristophanes tells of this third kind “no child of the sun like a man, nor child of the Earth like a woman, but a child of the moon, with the nature of both within.”

This ancient myth tells us of a perfect human, full, complete and self-sufficient, able to challenge the gods themselves and who attempts to climb Olympus. An affront punished by the autoritas of Zeus with the breaking down and separation of the androgyne into two halves, male and female.

A myth romanticised in literature, an element of philosophy abused and impoverished by the cinema is that of the androgynous creature which is actually a foundational archetypal allegory well suited to modern Western society where, in fact housework and childcare are assigned to both sexes equally so the man softens and the woman becomes more enterprising projecting herself to the outside world with typically male determination and charisma.

Couples themselves agree on this: in a recent survey by Istat in 90% of cases they agree ‘a man and woman who both work full-time should contribute equally to the housework.’ Domestic Unanimity?

An idyll of common purpose? Not exactly.

The home and family are often the site of a now institutionalised frustration, with men lost in a sea of nappies, baby bottles pots and pans while exhausted women in suits put their feet (and money!) up on the table. And they, with this provisional victory in their pockets, have unleashed a gender war that they are often not aware of. But they are victims, so to speak, of a revanche and ancestral ressentiment.

Not to mention the ethical and pedagogical sphere where the term ‘gender’ was introduced so that, according to the dictionary, the underlying membership of a sex is determined from a cultural and not biological point of view (?!).

But who are these new creatures and their followers? Novel androgynous beings perhaps, as in the night of humanity? I doubt that.

We are very far from the perfect beings of the origins, in, archaically, an admirable coexistence of all the attributes, the high plane of Mircea Eliade’s coincidentia oppositorum.

Modern man has returned then to being one and perfect. But by dissolution, not virtue.

I germani pensavano che un luogo felice, dove potesse regnare la pace al riparo da ogni aggressione esterna, dovesse essere un luogo delimitato. A questo ho pensato, reminiscenza di studi accademici, entrando in libreria in compagnia di Laura Senesi. Questo mi hanno comunicato, per magia diretta, la sua dolcezza, i suoi modi delicati ed il suo cuore generoso. Mamma, appassionata e ricercatrice di psicologia e counselling, non di meno imprenditrice con una piccola e fervida attività, ci parla subito della figlia Valentina, che d’un tratto corre verso di noi festante: “Si, posso dire che è una figlia serena. Così dinamica ed intraprendente! Oltre alla scuola, certo, pratica teatro e danza ed è spesso qua con me”.

La libreria è infatti molto vicina alla sensibilità ed ai bisogni delle mamme – pensate è anche munita di un fasciatoio e di un divano per l’allattamento! Qui i bambini possono godere, insieme ai genitori, di un tempo esclusivo e qualificato con le attività ludiche di apprendimento a cura della pedagogista Dr.ssa Rita Degli Innocenti – che da oltre un anno cura inoltre il centro estivo. Da metà novembre la libreria si concederà un lifting di contenuti e programmi ampliando la sua offerta editoriale ed i servizi per i bambini. Con una filosofia ben precisa, ci racconta Laura: “Soprattutto libri che noi riteniamo di qualità, di piccole

The Ancient Germans thought that a happy place where peace could reign freely away from any external aggression should be a specific, delimited spot.

I thought of this, reminiscent of academic studies, entering the bookshop with Laura Senesi. This was communicated to me by direct magic, her sweetness, her gentle way and her generous heart.

A mother, an enthusiastic researcher into psychology and counselling, no less than a businesswoman with a small and lively business, she soon talks about her daughter Valentina, who suddenly runs toward us joyfully, “Yes, I can say that she’s a happy girl. So dynamic and enterprising! In addition to school, of course, there’s theatre and dance practice and she’s often here with me.”

The bookshop is in fact very close to the feelings and needs of mothers – just think it comes equipped with a changing table and a sofa for breastfeeding!

Here children can enjoy, together with their parents, a special time with fun educational activities in the care of educator Dr.ssa Rita Degli Innocenti – who for over a year has run the summer centre. From mid-November, the library will have a facelift in its content and programmes to expand its book offering and services for children. With a specific philosophy, as Laura explains: “Especially books that we consider high quality, from small publishing houses and with a good narrative and well-written... and there’ll be new eco-friendly stationery too made from recycled materials.”

E per i bambini un servizio di book-sitter infrasettimanale con attività guidate pomeridiane e di aiuto compiti. Ogni sabato poi laboratori per tutto il giorno, con la possibilità di allestire feste di compleanno fantasiose, tematiche e divertenti. Grazie all’associazione di madri Durga Luna - nata proprio in seno alla libreria – tutte le genitrici iscritte saranno poi coperte da un’assicurazione per le attività dei propri figli.

E non è tutto. L’ostetrica Sandra Mosca offre assistenza alle madri nel periodo pre-natale con i suoi corsi di accompagnamento alla nascita e post-parto, con tecniche corporee e sostegno emotivo. Un metodo nel quale gioca un ruolo preminente la disciplina dello yoga.

In questo posto così vicino eppure talmente segreto, lontano dal mondo e dalle sua crisi insensate, si concentra una rara sensibilità ed un forte senso della comunità e della famiglia: “Oggi i nostri figli soffrono di una diffidenza molto radicata e diffusa. Sono attenti oltremodo e spesso prevenuti. Un ostacolo notevole per la loro crescita armoniosa. Mentre le madri si ri-

And that’s not all. Ostetrician Sandra Mosca offers assistance to mothers up to Christmas with her birthing and post-partum courses, with body techniques and emotional support. A method in which the discipline of yoga plays a prominent role.

This place which is so close at hand and yet so secret, far away from the world and its senseless crises, focuses a rare sensitivity and a strong sense of community and family: “Today our children suffer from a widespread and deeply rooted diffidence. They are extremely anxious and often blocked. A major obstacle to their harmonious growth. While mothers carve out their own space of calm and tranquillity we try to make them comfortable with the activities suited to their age. A time of learning and leisure going together spontaneously, to increase

Un momento di apprendimento e assieme di svago spontaneo, per accrescere il senso di autostima e progressiva confidenza con se stessi, con gli altri e con ciò che li circonda”.

Per quanto riguarda lo spazio di lettura così ricercato proposto in libreria, vi è uno slogan che ben rappresenta la medesima sensibilità: “Parlaci dei tuoi interessi, dei tuoi desideri o dei tuoi problemi contingenti e noi ti consiglieremo un libro adatto, in grado di fornire elementi nuovi, stimoli e chiavi d’interpretazione”. Laura Senesi si è da tempo dedicata alla psicologia cognitiva, in particolare studiando i processi di apprendimento e la personalizzazione dei metodi didattici visivi, auditivi e cinestetici: “Per comprendere il modo (personale e non sempre convenzionale) con il quale il bambino si avvicina allo studio al fine di non imporre ad egli stesso un metodo standardizzato, a questo punto assolutamente inefficace”.

Quando le parliamo della difficoltà nei rapporti interpersonali e delle dinamiche affettive di questa sciagurata modernità lei si abbandona ad un’intensa (e da noi condivisa) considerazione: “La nostra è anzitutto una crisi di natura etica. Gli adulti paiono sempre più isolati e raccolti su se stessi. Spaventati. Come i bambini appunto che nel periodo dell’infanzia - per antonomasia evolutiva un tempo di gioco e spensieratezza – mostrano paure ed incertezze costanti e crescenti. Non c’è più, insomma, il gruppo di amici ‘dei giardini’. Là fuori c’è molta aggressività ed i genitori sono sempre più assenti, spesso per necessità più che per scelta ed egoismi personali”.

Se questa sia una politica di controllo occulta, studiata a tavolino, non è dato di sapere: “Tuttavia crediamo sia importante ritrovare il senso della famiglia e della comunità di appartenenza attraverso lo smembramento delle paure e delle imposizioni che sono propinate ai bambini, tipo dogmi e pregiudizi – in gran misura senza esserne coscienti”. Le prime armi a nostra disposizione sono lo studio, la conoscenza, nella misura in cui ritroviamo la sensibilità e la gioia di condividerle.

As for the space of reading so emphasised in the bookshop, there is a slogan that represents the same level of sensitivity: “Tell us about your interests, your desires or your current problems and we’ll recommend a suitable book, able to provide new elements, ideas and interpretative keys.” Laura Senesi has long been dedicated to cognitive psychology, in particular studying the processes of learning and the individualisation of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic teaching methods: “To understand the way (personal and not always conventional) with which the child approaches learning in order not to impose a standardized system which becomes absolutely ineffective.”

When we speak to her of the difficulties in interpersonal relationships and emotional dynamics of our unhappy modernity she delivers a passionate account of it (which we share): “Ours is primarily a crisis of an ethical nature. Adults seem increasingly isolated and self-involved. Frightened. Like children through their childhood – by evolutionary definition a time of playing and being carefree – showing constant and growing fears and uncertainties. There is no longer, in fact, the group of ‘garden’ friends. Out there there’s a lot of aggression and parents are increasingly absent, often out of necessity rather than by choice and personal egoism.”

If this is a policy of covert control, worked out at desks, we do not know: “However we believe it is important to find a sense of family and community and belonging through the dissolution of the fears and impositions made on children, such as dogmas and other fixed ideas – largely unconsciously.” The best weapons at our disposal are study and consciousness, to the extent that we find the sensitivity and joy of sharing them.

Simbologia della torre

opo esserci occupati del simbolismo del ponte, evidenziandone,con Réne Guénon il senso di verticalità in esso espresso in quanto «pilastro assiale che lega il cielo e la terra pur mantenendoli separati», diventa naturale passare all’elemento architettonico che esprime il concetto di elevazione per eccellenza: la torre.

Quanto sia forte la sua capacità di trasmettere l’idea di potenza emerge dalla frequenza con la quale ritroviamo diffusa la sua figura ancora oggi. Che la torre fosse un simbolo ricorrente in epoca medioevale, quando tale costruzione, come la cinta muraria, era parte integrante dell’assetto urbanistico e architettonico di ogni città, è cosa naturale; il fatto che ancora ai nostri giorni sia l’elemento più frequente negli emblemi dei comuni, dimostra la forza evocativa che il suo simbolo continua ad avere anche per l’uomo del nostro tempo. Tre torri compaiono negli emblemi dei comuni di Città di Castello e di Umbertide, mentre ricorre la corona merlata negli stendardi di Citerna e di Sansepolcro. La piazza principale di quest’ultima porta ancora il nome Torre di Berta, eretta al suo centro e dopo oltre mezzo secolo dalla sua distruzione ancora il simbolo della città. E proprio Sansepolcro vanta un primato per numeri di torri abbattute nel corso del medioevo: tra le famiglie potenti, la gara era a chi innalzava la torre più alta e i conflitti tra di esse si concludevano con l’abbattimento delle costruzioni delle casate sconfitte.

Non è un caso che, per ottenere un impatto ancora più eclatante, quale obiettivo per l’attentato agli Stati uniti sia stato scelto di colpire le torri gemelle. Ma basti pensare alla storia della torre di Babele, che ci accompagna da millenni senza che ne sia stato intaccato il valore evocativo. Emblematico il fatto che, nell’Europa cristiana, la sostituzione dei simboli originali del gioco degli scacchi sia avvenuta inserendo la torre al posto del carro della versione persiana o che la stessa Maria sia denominata Torre d’avorio o Torre di Davide. Ma come non concludere con un accenno al sedicesimo arcano dei tarocchi? L’aspetto al quale vogliamo accennare è che in alcune versioni, come i tarocchi di Marsiglia, la torre non risulta distrutta dal fulmine: l’impatto provoca soltanto l’innalzamento del tetto a corona, evocando l’immagine dell’atanhor alchemico, il forno attraverso il quale gli alchimisti operano la trasmutazione della materia, ottenendo l’elevazione di cui l’arcano può essere rappresentazione. Un curioso testo è I tarocchi – il vangelo segreto di Carlo Bozzelli (Edizioni Mediterranee, Roma, 2014) che segnaliamo per i riferimenti alla Resurrezione di Piero della Francesca.

How strong is its ability to convey the idea of power is evidenced by the frequency with which we still encounter this symbol today. That the tower was a recurring figure in medieval times, when such a construction, like the ring of city walls, was an integral part of the urban planning and architecture of each city, was quite natural; but the fact that to this day it is the most common element in municipal emblems demonstrates the evocative power that this symbol continues to have for the people of our day.

Three towers appear in the emblems of the towns of Città di Castello and Umbertide, while the crenellated crown appears in the banners of Citerna and Sansepolcro.

The main square of Sansepolcro still carries the name of the Tower of Berta that stood in its centre, and, after more than half a century since its destruction it is still the symbol of the city.

And Sansepolcro indeed has a record for the number of towers destroyed during the Middle Ages: between the powerful families, the struggle was to raise the highest tower and the conflicts between the families would end with the demolition of the buildings of those who were defeated.

It is no coincidence that, for a striking impact, the objective chosen for the attack on the United States was the twin towers complex. But just think of the story of the tower of Babel, which has accompanied us for millennia without becoming any the less evocative. Emblematic of this fact is that, in Christian Europe, the substitution of the original symbols of the game of chess replaced the chariot of the Persian version with the tower or that Mary herself is called the Ivory Tower or the Tower of David.

But how not to conclude with a mention of the sixteenth card of the arcane tarot? The appearance which we want to mention is that in some versions, such as the Tarot of Marseille, the tower is not destroyed by lightning: the impact causes only the raising of the crown of the roof, evoking the image of the alchemic atanhor, the furnace through which the alchemists perform the transmutation of matter, achieving the elevation of which the secret can be represented. A curious text is I tarocchi – il vangelo segreto di Carlo Bozzelli (Edizioni Mediterranee, Roma, 2014) [The Tarot cards – the secret gospel of Carlo Bozzelli ] which we note because of its references to Piero della Francesca’s Resurrection.

Lo stile proposto dalle linee junior è grintoso e informale ma non manca un’accurata selezione di capi da cerimonia. Fra i punti di forza del negozio della signora Gaetano, infine, il fatto di rappresentare un ambiente umano, familiare, dove sentirsi a proprio agio; una realtà commerciale lontana dai circuiti della grande distribuzione, dove il contatto con le persone è ancora molto stretto e diretto, in maniera tale da poterle seguire e consigliare al meglio sulla scelta finale.

I

t’s been ten years since our last meeting with Emma and Mara. Our longtime friends, the le Cuoche Erranti, [The Wandering Cooks], as they like to call themselves, have come back to see us at the magazine office with their usual sunny and engaging air. And they tell us about their work that has really taken off – with events hosted in prestigious locations, in town and country – and many formal or fun dinners in people’s homes. They’re certainly in love with what they do.

Emma e Mara sono delle grandi amanti della cucina paesana territoriale. Che hanno indagato con scrupolo e serietà la tradizione locale in molti anni di pratica e sperimentazione. Come spesso accade la cucina è un cammino di ricerca a ritroso nel tempo; nel loro caso riscoperta di metodi e procedure poderali – dal folclore mitico della mezzadria alle avanguardie della modernità.

La loro è una capacità ormai comprovata di esprimere conoscenza della materia ed estro creativo: nell’allestimento degli ambienti intimi familiari – ad esempio adoperando i tovagliati storici della famiglia dimenticati in un cassetto di un vecchio canterano – quanto dei grandi spazi ricettivi, specie nei casolari e nelle ville di campagna: “E’ emozionante rispolverare il lustro della famiglia, le cose belle di casa, ricreando l’identità ed il senso di appartenenza”, affermano carismatiche.

Nelle cene a domicilio si può riscoprire il piacere di stare con gli amici senza doversi preoccupare degli aspetti organizzativi e pratici, curare le relazioni umane e professionali senza l’assillo di dover preparare e poi rimettere a posto la cucina, spesso tirando tardi e con un’alzataccia l’indomani mattina.

Nulla sarà lasciato al caso, con eleganza e signorilità, discrezione ed immaginazione: “Per aprire la propria casa agli amici e partecipare della generosità della famiglia. Come un tempo!”, precisa Emma.

Mentre Mara, con la sua espressione benevola tira fuori dalla borsa una cartolina di ringraziamento di una giovane coppia inglese: “E’ stata proprio la festa che avevamo sognato: grazie per aver esaudito tutti i nostri desideri!”…

Mara and Emma are great fans of local peasant cuisine.

They’ve investigated the local food tradition scrupulously and seriously over many years of practice and experimentation. As often happens, cooking is a journey of discovery back through time; in their case the rediscovery of the methods and ways of crofters [poderali] – the quasi- mythical folklore of the sharecroppers at the forefront of modernity.

They have a proven capacity to express creatively their knowledge of the subject: for settings at intimate family gatherings for example they employ the family’s inherited tablecloths long-forgotten in an old chest of drawers – as well as in large hospitality areas, especially in farmhouses and country villas: “It’s exciting to dust off the family’s lustre, the good things of the house, recreating their identity and sense of belonging,” they tell me winningly.

With the home dinners you can rediscover the pleasure of being with friends without having to worry about the organizational aspects, looking after the practical and human side without the worry of having to prepare and then clean the kitchen, or running late with a painful awakening the morning after.

Nothing is left to chance, everything achieved with elegance and refinement, discretion and imagination: “Just open your home to friends and family and share the joy. Like in the old days!” Emma tells me.

Meanwhile Mara, with a benevolent expression, pulls out a postcard of thanks from a young English couple: “It was precisely the feast we had dreamed of: thanks for having made all our wishes come true!”

tempo di vino e olio nuovo alla Fattoria Gritti, meglio conosciuta come i Girasoli di Sant’ Andrea, l’azienda agricola adagiata sulle colline della Valle del Niccone che, dal 1994, si è imposta sul territorio con la sua attività di produzione enologica ed olearia. Abbiamo chiesto alla signora Ursula, la proprietaria, un resoconto sull’annata attuale.

t’s the moment for the new wine and oil at the Gritti Farm, better known as the Girasoli [sunflowers] di Sant’Andrea, a farm spread across the hills of the Niccone Valley that, from 1994, has made a name for itself in the area with its wine and oil production. We asked Signora Ursula, the owner, to report on the year’s vintage.

“Quella del 2015 è stata un’annata eccellente – mi dice Ursula al telefono, con la sua bella voce dalla lieve inflessione nordica che ha prodotto uve sanissime sulle quali non è stato necessario intervenire in alcun modo per la cura delle malattie che talvolta affliggono i filari, con un grado zuccherino estremamente interessante e dalle quali ci aspettiamo vini di grande corpo; merito di un’estate senza piogge e con temperature elevate, come si confà ad una stagione estiva in piena regola”.

Lo stesso discorso vale per gli ulivi di casa Gritti, dei quali Ursula racconta: “La raccolta non è ancora terminata ma, anche per quanto concerne la produzione di olio, possiamo ritenerci oltremodo soddisfatti e definirla ottima, soprattutto dal punto di vista della qualità, considerato che il caldo torrido ha in parte seccato i fiori compromettendo, di conseguenza, i frutti e limitando le quantità; tutto considerato, porteremo in tavola un eccellente extravergine”.

I Girasoli di Sant’ Andrea è anche un ristorante poco lontano dalla sede dell’ omonima azienda agricola, ospitato all’interno di un antico casolare e gestito dal giovane Simone Corsetti che ci illustra la proposta gastronomica per la stagione fredda: “ Protagonisti del menu autunnale – dice – i prodotti tipici di stagione e quindi tartufo nero e bianco, a seconda della disponibilità, funghi porcini, carciofi, zucca e le carni pregiate dell’ Appennino centrale, meticolosamente selezionate soprattutto fra le tipologie Marchigiana e Chianina.

Fra i piatti di punta, il flan al tartufo nero con fonduta di formaggio Bra e grana stagionato 16 mesi e, come primo, le pappardelle tricolore al ragù bianco di carne Chianina”.

“2015 has been an excellent year” – Ursula tells me on the phone, in her beautiful voice with its slight Nordic inflection – “which produced very healthy grapes which needed no interventions to treat any of the diseases that sometimes afflict the vines, with an extremely interesting sugar level, and from which we expect fullbodied wines; thanks to a hot dry summer, a full-on summer season in fact.”

The same goes for the olive trees at the Gritti farm, of which Ursula tells me: “The harvest is not yet fully in, but with regard to oil production too, we can be extremely satisfied and call it an excellent year, especially from the point of view of quality, considering that the great heat partly dried up the flowers, damaging the fruits and limiting the crop; all things considered however, we will bring an excellent extra virgin oil to the table.”

I Girasoli di Sant‘Andrea is also a restaurant sited near the farm of the same name, housed in an old farmhouse and run by young Simone Corsetti who shows us the gastronomic offering for the cold season: “The stars of the autumn menu” – he tells me– “are the classic seasonal products like black and white truffle and – depending on availability – mushrooms, artichokes, pumpkin and the best meats of the Central Appennines meticulously selected concentrating especially on the Marchigiana and Chianina breeds.

Among the top dishes, black truffle flan with Bra cheese fondue and 16 month-old Grana with as the first course, pappardelle tricolore with a white sauce of Chianina beef.”

l ferro si innesta, forgia, si incastra e compendia la pietra nelle nuove opere di Marcello Rigucci, scultore amante della materia grezza e del simbolismo primordiale, trasversale alle culture ed alle civiltà negli archetipi universali dell’umanità.

he iron is grafted, forged, and joined to stone in new works by Marcello Rigucci, sculptor and lover of his raw material and of the primordial symbolism that exists across cultures and civilizations in humanity’s universal archetypes.

Spogliare la pietra o forse semplicemente saperne cogliere la natura simbolica, il messaggio. Per Marcello Rigucci la materia inerte è in realtà semiotica e sembiante: “Quando trovo delle pietre ne rimango spesso coinvolto e così mi trascinano nella loro vita. Che non è semplice natura ma anche spirito, ponte di comunicazione con una realtà ulteriore, complessa ed intuitiva, fatta di volumi e linee carismatiche”.

Forme primordiali di genere: la donna con le sue pelvi, l’uomo nella sua natura rude, la luce come scintilla d’intelligenza, progresso e speculazione. Pietre che hanno chiaro un codice, un messaggio in loro stesse, ed elementi ancora non finiti, in evoluzione, che l’artista convoglia nel processo creativo per comporne e definirne il senso, la funzione.

Una missione quella di Marcello Rigucci, escatologica, legata alle cose prime ed ultime dell’uomo nel suo passaggio terrestre. Come non vedere nelle figure alieniche o tribali un segno monolitico di presenza assoluta, nella materia cristallizzata eterna ed immutabile.

E così come nella condizione umana, il successo esistenziale è volontà, creazione di senso, forma compiuta ed infinita, allo stesso tempo queste ultime pietre di Marcello Rigucci sono ancora imperfette, in evoluzione, in cerca di una dimensione e di un completamento. Che l’artista demiurgo decreta e forgia con il ferro, rendendole stabili, fisse ed invero eterne. La sua brama di assoluto è così soddisfatta.

Undress the stone or perhaps just learn to grasp the symbolic nature of its message. For Marcello Rigucci ‘inert matter’ is actually semiotics and similarity: “When I find something in the stones I remain involved and they often drag me into their lives. Something that is not simple nature but also spirit, a bridge of communication to a reality beyond that is complex and intuitive, formed of charismatic lines and volumes.”

Primordial forms of the sort: woman with her pelvis, man in his crude nature, light as a spark of intelligence, progress and speculation. Stones that clearly hold a code, a message in themselves, and things that have not finished evolving, the artist brings them in to the creative process to compose and define their direction, their function.

Marcello Rigucci has an eschatological mission, tied to the first and last things of humankind in its passage on Earth. How can one miss a monolithic sign of the eternal presence in the unchanging crystallized matter of the alien or tribal figures.

And just as with the human condition, existential success is in the will, the creation of meaning, complete form and the infinite at the same time, so these stones of Marcello Rigucci are still imperfect, evolving, looking for their proper size and completeness. The artist as demiurge decrees and forges the iron, making them stable, fixed and indeed eternal. And so his lust for the absolute is satisfied.

a musica ce l’aveva già nel sangue fin da bambino, quando suo papà Giuseppe intratteneva gli amici con fisarmonica e chitarra e la mamma Fiorella accompagnava con occhi amorevoli le giornate vivaci all’insegna della cordialità. Ricordo ancora come oggi quelle belle giornate in campagna, Francesco ed io eravamo bambini, l’allegria e il coinvolgimento in canti e balli con il sorriso e l’accoglienza.

I remember as if it were yesterday those beautiful days in the countryside when Francesco and I were children, the joyful involvement in singing and dancing, all so smiley and welcoming.

Ne sono passate di note sotto le mani di Francesco Cozzolino, che ha sempre coltivato la sua passione per la musica ed il canto nonché per la stesura dei testi. Dai primi arrangiamenti siamo arrivati al 12 settembre 2015, quando, presso l’Associazione Culturale Art’è, è stato presentato alla stampa il nuovo singolo ed il video “Non è così”, prodotto dalla Etichetta musicale Drycastle Records di Maurizio Bozzi. Il brano è stato scritto insieme a Mirko Montanari, che ha pure composto la musica con Francesco Cozzolino; gli arrangiamenti sono del bassista e produttore Maurizio Bozzi e la canzone è stata registrata negli studi della Jam Recording di Michele Pazzaglia. Il brano è carino ed accattivante e il videoclip di animazione, ideato e realizzato dal disegnatore Gaetano Bigi specializzato in motion graphics, è davvero incantevole.

Lo scarico su I-tunes e lo riascolto. Colpisce questa donna che vive in un mondo fatato, fatto di vacanze e montagne di scarpe che volano da un aereo ad uno yacht. Nelle canzoni di Francesco appare sempre la figura di una donna, a volte una femme fatale

The notes have long run under the hands of Francesco Cozzolino, who has always cultivated his passion for music and singing as well as for writing lyrics. From his first arrangements we get to 12th September 2015 when his new single and video Non è così, [It’s not like that] produced by Maurizio Bozzi’s Drycastle Records label was presented to the press at the Associazione Culturale Art’è. The song was co-written with Mirko Montanari, who also composed the music with Francesco Cozzolino; with arrangements by bassist and producer Maurizio Bozzi, the song being recorded in the studios of Michele Pazzaglia’s Jam Recording. The song is attractive and appealing, and the animation video, designed and created by designer Gaetano Bigi who specializes in motion graphics, is really lovely. I downloaded the song on I-tunes and listened to it again.

It’s about a woman who lives in an enchanted world of holidays, with mountains of shoes and who flies with a plane to a yacht. In Francesco’s songs the figure of a woman always appears, sometimes a femme fatale like this one, described with brief references

E’da qualche anno che ho in serbo questa domanda per Francesco ma non trovavo mai l’occasione appropriata e ora non mi sfugge: VALLEY LIFE: “Nei tuoi testi appare spesso una figura femminile, causa di crucci e tormenti: come nascono le tue canzoni e questa donna fa parte dell’immaginario o… ?”

FRANCESCO COZZOLINO: “Quando scrivo non sono immediato, ho bisogno di molto tempo. Prima scrivo la musica, poi il testo. Mescolo cose di altri e di me, la cosa ha uno sfondo di realtà e di fantasia in questo brano, il riferimento alle scarpe è perché ho notato da sempre che tutte le donne, giovani e non, belle e brutte, grasse e magre, tutte indistintamente sono attratte dalle scarpe. Nel testo accenno ad un musicista, alla sua vita, alle sue esperienze, alla sua solitudine. Poi, il tema dell’incompatibilità: lei pensa ad altro, viaggi, vacanze, mentre lui è preso dalla sua musica, una passione che ostacola la loro storia. Il musicista è innamorato solo della musica; la donna che sta con lui magari pensa all’aspetto esteriore, alla mondanità ed al successo, ad una vita patinata fatta di feste di cui all’artista non interessa nulla. Spesso il musicista vuol essere libero e non coinvolto nel vortice delle pubbliche relazioni. Ho molti amici musicisti e tutti condividiamo questo distacco dall’esteriorità, preferendo stare nel nostro mondo fatto di note e strumenti. O semplicemente di solitudine”.

VL: “Quello che mi ha colpito nella canzone è la descrizione di questo contrasto tra i due. Mi vengono in mente queste parole di Sandor Màrai: l’artista non ha nessuno, perché non può condividere niente con nessuno. Tutta la sua attenzione, tutta la forza dei suoi sentimenti sono destinate al compito per il quale è stato scelto e non possono essere condivise con nessun altro”.

FC: “In effetti è come se fossero due mondi diversi; ho voluto fantasticare nella vita di un musicista”.

I’ve kept the following question for Francesco in reserve for a few years now but never found the right moment but I’m not going to miss my chance here: VALLEY LIFE: “A female figure often appears in your lyrics, a source of pain and anguish: what do your songs come out of and is this woman imaginary or...?”

FRANCESCO COZZOLINO: “What I write about isn’t something immediate, I need a lot of time. First I write the music, then the text.

I mix things from other people and myself, there’s a background of both reality and fantasy in this piece, the reference to shoes is because I have often noticed that all women, young and old, beautiful and ugly, fat and lean, are all attracted to shoes. The lyric refers to a musician, his life, his experiences, his loneliness. Then there’s the theme of incompatibility: she thinks about travel and holidays while he’s busy with his music, a passion that interferes with their relationship. The musician is only in love with music; the woman who is with him obsesses with outward appearances, worldliness and success, a shiny life of parties which doesn’t interest the artist.

Often a musician wants to be free and not involved in the vortex of public relations. I have many musician friends and all share this detachment from the externals, preferring to stay in a world of notes and instruments. Or just solitude.”

VL: “What struck me in the song is the description of the contrast between the two. I am reminded of these words of Sándor Márai: ‘the artist has no one, because he can not share anything with anyone. All his attention, all the strength of his feelings are for the task for which he was chosen and cannot be shared with anyone else.’”

FC: “In fact it is as if they were in two different worlds; I just wanted to improvise on the life of a musician.”

Le immagini che scorrono sullo schermo, per me che sono a digiuno di nozioni di grafica, paiono veri e propri scatti fotografici: architetture, paesaggi e persone ritratte sono incredibilmente realistici per cui un salotto o una cucina sembrano i fotogrammi di un film.

Sto dando un’occhiata alle ultime fatiche di Daniele Rosadoni , ingegnere e appassionato professionista del 3D, che per ognuno dei progetti elaborati mi illustra il procedimento utilizzato per il raggiungere il risultato finale. Laureato in ingegneria civile all’Università degli Studi di Perugia, Daniele non smette mai di studiare, di ricercare e di appassionarsi alla tecnologia grafica che, come ci spiega lui stesso: “ E’ un campo in costante evoluzione in cui ogni giorno c’è qualcosa di nuovo da imparare e da aggiungere al proprio bagaglio di esperienza; ingegneria e architettura sono una fonte inesauribile di nuove tecniche di progettazione e una loro commistione è oltremodo auspicabile ”.

aniele Rosadoni is a smart guy, with an excellent dialectic and argumentative emphasis which testifies to his passion for what he does. An engineer of a humanistic kind who reinterprets architecture giving his projects soul.

The images that scroll across the screen, to one like me who is innocent in notions of graphics, seem like real photographs: the architecture, landscapes and people portrayed are incredibly realistic so that a living room or a kitchen look like the frames of a film.

I’m taking a look at the latest efforts of Daniele Rosadoni, engineer and 3D expert, who, for each of the plans I see illustrates the process used to achieve the end result. With a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Perugia, Daniele never ceases to study, research and enthuse about graphics technology that, as he explains himself: “It’s a field in constant evolution where every day there is something new to learn and add to the actual experience; engineering and architecture are an endless source of new design techniques and their combination is something highly desirable.”

masters and training courses (such as the Advanced Course of Post Production in V Ray and Photoshop and the International Master of Art at the State of Art Academy of Venice) as well as studying on his own while working for someone or just enjoying himself on the computer for the pure pleasure of creativity. “My training” – Daniele continues – “is highly technical; nevertheless, my approach to engineering is very creative in which the use of 3D graphics (his great passion, ed) becomes the excuse to develop design solutions that have a soul and that really show the end user what his future home will be, both inside and out.”

Indeed so, because his expertise is not just for interiors, but also encompasses landscape architecture, a fundamental aspect in exterior design because the landscape context in which the project will develop is anything but an irrelevant element..

“The customer who requires a certain service” – he tells me – “must not simply be contented but must be satisfied. For this reason, in the planning stage it’s crucial to make a strong connection to what will be the actual result, it can only be done through a meticulous study of all the characteristics of a given environment, whether internal or external: the space must be described and brought to life through the shapes, lights, the colours, and, not least, with the inclusion of human figures who enliven and move the scene. Never trust those who propose lightning solutions and submit a draft after just two days of work because you can only do a good design by investing the time and by meticulously analyzing all the elements that characterize a space.”

Autocad, Sketch Up Pro, 3D Studio Max, V-Ray, the popular Photoshop, Rail Clone and Forrest Pack Pro are just some of the software that Daniele uses, and he is also involved in the development and redesign of logos, the creation of posters, business cards, merchandising solutions for corporate image, objects for illustrative purposes for all sectors, exterior modelling, interior and post-production, and construction animation. “Il committente che richiede un determinato servizio – dice – non deve semplicemente accontentarsi ma essere soddisfatto.

Per questo motivo, in fase progettuale è fondamentale la massima aderenza a quello che sarà il risultato reale, obiettivo raggiungibile solo attraverso lo studio meticoloso di tutte le caratteristiche di un determinato ambiente, sia esso interno od esterno: lo spazio va raccontato e reso vivo attraverso le forme, le luci, i colori e, non da ultimo, con l’inserimento di figure umane che vivacizzino e muovano la scena. Mai fidarsi di chi propone soluzioni lampo e presenta un progetto dopo appena due giorni di lavoro perché un buon progetto lo si ottiene solo investendoci del tempo e analizzando meticolosamente tutti gli elementi che caratterizzano uno spazio”.

Con lui approfondiamo altri aspetti del correre spingendoci oltre l’aridità del semplice dato agonistico.

GIANLUCA POLIDORI: Sono qua per la più importante fiera mondiale di Education ed i tempi sono strettissimi… ma figurati se mi lascio sfuggire l’occasione di correre sulla città della maratona più veloce del mondo! Proprio in vista di questa che correrò a settembre del 2016, stamattina corsetta in atmosfera già prenatalizia: partenza dal Giardino Zoologico tra i sentieri incantati del Parco Tiergarten dove ti aspetti di incontrare da un momento all’altro la casa di Hansel e Gretel avanti fino alla celebre Torre della Vittoria, giù sul vialone verso il Reichstag e la Porta di Brandeburgo, il Cimitero Monumentale Ebraico, la modernità di Potsdamer Platz con la consueta pista di neve quasi pronta, il muro ed il Check Point Charlie - sempre carichi di emozione e memoria - fino alla ex Berlino Est di Alexander Platz sotto i 207 metri della Torre della Televisione, passando dal Neues Museum che ospita il busto di una delle donne più belle ed affascinanti di ogni tempo, Nefertiti. Where did you go running this morning?

GIANLUCA POLIDORI: I am here for the major world Education Fair and time is tight... but I reckoned I couldn’t let slip the opportunity to run in the city of the world’s fastest marathon!

Given the fact I’m going to run it in September 2016 this morning I took a little run in what is already a pre-Christmas atmosphere: leaving from the Zoo along the enchanted paths of the Tiergarten where you expect to come upon the house of Hansel and Gretel at any moment then on to the famous Tower of Victory, down the avenue toward the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate, the Monumental Jewish Cemetery, the modernity of Potsdamer Platz with the usual snow track ready, the Wall and Checkpoint Charlie – evoking such feelings and memories – on to the former East Berlin at Alexanderplatz with the 207 metres of the Television Tower, to the Neues Museum which houses the bust of one of the most beautiful and fascinating women of all time, Nefertiti. In short 19km at 7 AM in a Berlin that smells

o Città del Messico. Oltretutto nessun turista visiterà mai una città come può fare un runner: vedi monumenti e bellezze da prospettive sconosciute ed arrivi in posti impensabili VL: Per dovere di cronaca veniamo ai fatti agonistici… Hai mai corso una maratona? Raccontaci…

GP: Sì ne ho corse 4, New York, Valencia, Treviso e Boston.

Delle 4 la mia preferita e che consiglio spassionatamente è Boston! New York è molto pubblicizzata e di grande immagine ma per un runner non c’è paragone. L’ho corsa lo scorso lunedì 20 aprile, si corre sempre per il Patriots Day. Che dire, tutto è magico a Boston, dall’iscrizione accessibile solo se hai un determinato tempo in maratona, al fatto che è la più antica del mondo, al percorso assolutamente saliscendi che non sai come aspettarti, alle famose e temutissime 4 salite: le Newton Hills, che trovi dal km 26 al 31, l’ultima delle quali è chiamata “Heartbreak Hill” (la collina dell’infarto che nel nome ben si descrive!). Correre a Boston significa alzarsi alle 4 di mattina, fare colazione, prendere uno delle centinaia di School Bus gialli tipici dei Simpson verso la partenza di Hopkinton, paesino a 42km e 195 m di distanza. Da lì aspettare il colpo di cannone della partenza insieme agli altri 33.000 partecipanti per poi godersi uno spettacolo di gente, tifo e bande musicali che anche quest’anno malgrado il diluvio ed il vento incessante sono stati numerosissimi. Fantastico il 14’ miglio dove si trova il Wellesley College, scuola femminile. Da lontano senti grida femminili a tutto volume di ragazze con cartelli e scritte che vogliono essere baciate e abbracciate dai runners! Per scaramanzia ne ho baciate un paio e poi mi sono spostato tutto a sinistra dall’altra parte per non arrivare a notte fonda!

GP: Il mio miglior tempo in maratona l’ho fatto proprio a Boston 2015, 2:57:20. Viste le condizioni meteo ed il percorso conto di migliorarlo nel 2016. Pensavo di andare a Londra ma i miei amici Borghesi Simone e Luigi Pagliacci, Giulio e Lorenzo Cestelli che da tempo gestiscono hotels a Praga mi hanno già iscritto per la maratona nella loro bella città. Ne vedremo delle belle! Poi a settembre la Maratona di Berlino e dopo ho in mente un’idea molto suggestiva a scopo benefico cui sto pensando da un po’ che mi intriga molto; insomma come dice un mio caro amico, sempre di corsa per non farsi raggiungere dal tempo!

GP: Yes I’ve run four, New York, Valencia, Treviso and Boston.

Of the four my favourite and that I passionately recommend is Boston! New York’s is much-publicized and a great image for a runner but there is no comparison. I ran it last April on the 20th, you always run it on Patriots Day. What can I say, everything is magical in Boston, from the fact that you can only join in if you have a specific marathon timing, to the fact that it’s the oldest in the world, and the track goes up and down in away you can’t predict, with all the famous and fearsome four climbs: the Newton Hills, which are from 26 to 31 km, the last of which is called ‘Heartbreak Hill’ (the name describes it well!). Running in Boston means getting up at 4 in the morning, have breakfast, take one of the hundreds of Yellow School Busses like in The Simpsons to the start in Hopkinton, a small town 42km and 195m away. From there you wait for the cannon that sounds the off along with the other 33,000 participants and then enjoy a show of people, cheering and marching bands that were numerous again this year despite the flooding Santa Sofia ad Istanbul and the incessant wind. VL: What is your Personal Best and what are your goals for this season and the future.

GP: My best time in a marathon was the one I just ran: Boston 2015, 2:57:20. Given the weather conditions and taking the location into account I hope to improve on that in 2016. I thought I was going to London but my friends Simone Borghesi, Luigi Pagliacci, Giulio and Lorenzo Cestelli who have long run hotels in Prague have already registered me for the marathon in their beautiful city. We’ll see something Fashion runners there! Then in September there’s the Berlin Marathon and after I have in mind an impressive idea for a charity I’m thinking a bit about, it’s very intriguing; in short, as a friend of mine says, always in a hurry to avoid time catching up with me!

n occasione della partecipazione alla Settimana Europea per la Riduzione dei Rifiuti, sabato 28 novembre, alle ore 11.00, in piazza Matteotti a Città di Castello si svolgerà “Flash Mob”, una manifestazione che, nel periodo dal 21 al 29 novembre, vedrà oltre 5000 azioni in tutta Italia e circa 12.000 in giro per l’ Europa.

Attraverso il loro Info Point, i ragazzi distribuiranno il materiale informativo spiegando il senso stretto dell’installazione, il suo valore morale e sociale.

Una delle priorità fondamentali della società di oggi, non è tanto il riciclo quanto la riduzione dei rifiuti all’origine, un processo di dematerializzazione attraverso il quale ridurne la produzione e, grazie a tecnologie come la stampa 3D, assistere alla IV Rivoluzione Industriale, diventandone gli attori principali.

L’utilizzo di questo tipo di stampa, infatti, permette di produrre in completa autonomia, di ridurre gli imballaggi e di eliminare le materie plastiche in eccesso, trasferendo le informazioni senza il supporto logistico del packaging e andando diritti al cuore dell’oggetto necessario. È possibile stampare in casa o in luoghi specifici e con materiali specifici; la stampa 3D e la IV Rivoluzione Industriale, al di là delle nuove opportunità commerciali, se opportunamente gestite possono condurre ad una sensibile riduzione degli imballaggi e dei rifiuti plastici in generale. Grazie a questa nuova tecnologia, è possibile passare direttamente all’utilizzo di servizi, migliorando nel contempo l’utilizzo dei materiali. Ricci e Pierluigi Monsignori, insieme al corpo docente dell’Istituto e rivolte agli alunni della scuola secondaria IIS Polo Tecnico Franchetti Salviani di Città di Castello, daranno vita a laboratori e all’elaborazione di materiale divulgativo che verrà utilizzato sia nella scuola che distribuito fra la popolazione. Le ore scolastiche saranno utilizzate dai ragazzi dell’Istituto per fare lezione ai loro compagni su Plastic Food Project e stampa 3D, sul valore di una nuova coscienza ambientale, su una maggiore attenzione agli imballaggi e a tutto quello che si getta via, sottolineandone il valore sociale ed umano.

Ridurre i rifiuti non è solo un dovere civico ma un obbligo verso l’umanità e Plastic Food Project lavora da 10 anni nel campo della riduzione dei rifiuti, tramite esposizioni di Land Art, eco-balle di materiali plastici e spazzatura disseminati per il territorio, come prova tangibile di quello che noi produciamo.

Pierluigi Monsignori, l’artista ideatore di Plastic Food, si reca nelle scuole con un elemento della sua installazione e, tramite lezioni dirette e confronti con ragazzi e docenti, cerca di portare un messaggio ecologico e sociale per comunicare come, la società dell’usa e getta, ci abbia portati alla produzione esagerata di rifiuti da smaltire, con costi generati dalla produzione allo smaltimento ma anche ad un usa e getta di valori e sentimenti - per cui è auspicabile una nuova coscienza con la quale rapportarsi verso il mondo e verso gli altri.

Le lezioni si sono svolte in numerose scuole italiane e l’installazione è stata esposta in numerosi siti e musei di importanza mondiale: Il Museo Pecci a Prato, il Museo Bahia, il Parc de Foret di Bruxelles, l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Praga, Londra, la FUA di Perugia, per citarne alcuni. Pierluigi Monsignori, con Plastic Food Project, viene costantemente coinvolto in manifestazioni che si occupano di ecologia, di ambiente e salvaguardia ambientale in Italia e all’estero ed ha aperto, in Marocco, il primo Festival dedicato alla riduzione dei rifiuti.

Reducing waste is not only a civic duty but a social and moral obligation to humanity and the Plastic Food Project has worked for 10 years in the field of waste reduction, through exhibitions of Land Art, eco-bales of plastic materials and rubbish scattered across the region, as evidence of the amount of waste we are producing. Pierluigi Monsignori, the artist and creator of Plastic Food, visits schools with a part of the installation and, through direct lectures and discussions with students and teachers, tries to get across a social and ecological message that communicates that the disposable society has brought us a completely exaggerated amount of waste to be disposed of, with all the attendant costs generated thereby, but also to holding disposable values and feelings so that we need a new consciousness with which to relate to the world and to others.

Lessons have been held in various Italian schools and the installation was exhibited in numerous museums and at sites of global importance: Pecci in Prato, the Bahia Museum, Parc de Forêt Brussels, the Italian Cultural Institutes in Prague and London and the FUA of Perugia, to name a few. Pierluigi Monsignori with his Plastic Food Project is constantly involved in events dealing with ecology, the environment and environmental protection in Italy and abroad, and opened, in Morocco, the first festival dedicated to waste reduction.

In addition, as an active member of Legambiente, wherever his presence is required he is ready to make his contribution entirely gratis.

Da quanto scritto dal legislatore, si evince chiaramente come la mediazione familiare sia un’opportunità per la famiglia ampiamente disattesa nel nostro Paese in quanto non obbligatoria – ed inoltre sia percepita come una spesa in più per quelle coppie che si accingono a scindere il vincolo del matrimonio.

Con il termine mediazione familiare si fa riferimento al processo collaborativo di risoluzione di un conflitto, rivolto a quelle coppie il cui rapporto sta finendo o è già finito e che verranno assistite durante un percorso breve allo scopo non di farle tornare assieme bensì di aiutarle a trovare una soluzione condivisibile da entrambi - per tutti i problemi in questione, per tutelare soprattutto l’interesse del o dei minori - e in modo particolare del diritto di visita e di frequentazione di entrambi i genitori così come delle rispettive famiglie.

Il mediatore è quel professionista che aiuta nel creare una comunicazione costruttiva fra le parti, cercando di ridurre la componente irrazionale del conflitto, generata da risentimento e recriminazioni, che impedisce il perseguimento di accordi condivisi; tutto questo, mantenendo un rapporto di equidistanza, ossia senza prendere le parti di nessuno perché non è questo il suo ruolo.

La mediazione familiare, come afferma Lisa Parkinson, è uno strumento per vincere tutti e due, win to win, e non “io vinco e tu perdi”, in quanto non ci devono essere, al termine del processo di mediazione, vincitori e perdenti; ma solo un accordo che tuteli i bisogni dell’intero nucleo familiare che si sta sciogliendo, con l’intento di valorizzare le competenze genitoriali e ristabilendo un clima di cooperazione e di comunicazione, l’abilità che per prima viene meno.

Family mediation, as formulated by Lisa Parkinson, is a tool for both to win, a win-win, and not “I win and you lose”, so there should be, at the end of the mediation process, not winners and losers but only an agreement that protects the needs of the entire family that is in dissolution, with the aim of enhancing parenting skills and re-establishing the atmosphere of cooperation and communication which is the first thing to break down.

re sono le innovazioni che hanno messo in difficoltà i proprietari di cani: l’imbracatura, il guinzaglio che si allunga ed i fanatici modi

L’imbracatura, in origine, nasce come incoraggiamento per i cani da slitta a tirare di più; ovviamente, questo strumento non rappresenta una soluzione per i cani che passeggiano mestamente al guinzaglio… ma nel momento in cui una persona infilerà un collare al collo del proprio cane e questo opporrà resistenza, forse questa ci rimarrà male e deciderà di passare all’utilizzo dell’imbracatura.

Il guinzaglio allungante toglie autorità e responsabilità al proprietario del cane nell’attimo in cui l’animale si allontana di metri, andando qua e là, decidendo autonomamente, come se il suo padrone non avesse alcuna importanza. Se nel passato siamo stati troppo poco rispettosi coi nostri cani, attualmente ci stiamo dirigendo verso la direzione opposta. I modi gentili vanno bene se il vostro cane ha la personalità adatta ad essi ma nel contesto ambientale attuale la parola gentile non ha alcun senso, rappresentando piuttosto una minaccia per coloro che, al contrario, non scelgono questo tipo di atteggiamenti.

Il governo svizzero è andato oltre ed ha messo fuori legge strumenti come il collare a catena, che potrebbe compromettere la rieducazione di cani problematici. L’Italia sarà la prossima?

Questo getterebbe molti proprietari nella disperazione perché, pur amando molto i propri cani, essi non potrebbero più utilizzare dei mezzi efficaci nel controllo della loro personalità aggressiva.

Gli irragionevoli standard che definiscono la gentilezza sono troppo pretenziosi per le persone normali che possiedono cani molto energici o dominanti e che potrebbero facilmente rimanere vittime dei problemi dei loro animali.

Questa tendenza morbida non rispetta la natura del cane e potrebbe persino sfociare in un calo delle adozioni e in un aumento degli abbandoni; invece di crogiolarci nell’ignoranza, impariamo a capire realmente il cane, a rispettarlo e a costruire con esso un nuovo rapporto per godere appieno della sua compagnia.

The body harness is for sled dogs to encourage that they pull better. Obviously this tool is not a solution for dogs that walk poorly on the leash. But after a person puts a collar around their dog’s neck and the dog resists, they quickly decide it is not “gentle” and are convinced by the priests of gentleness to use the harness.

The extenda-leash removes authority and responsibility from the dog owner as their pet roams meters away, crossing hither and thither, making every decision for itself as if the owner was irrelevant.

If we as a species have been too uncivilized with our dogs in the past, then the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction. “Gentle methods”, are fine when your dog has the personality for them, but in this current environment the word “gentle” has no meaning, and has instead become a threat against anyone who doesn’t do what the most fanatical among us considers “gentle”.

The Swiss government has gone too far and has outlawed tools like the choke collar that can be critical in the rehabilitation of a difficult dog. Is Italy next? This leaves many owners desperate and miserable. They love their dogs but can’t use effective tools to control its exaggerated personality.

The unreasonable standards for being “gentle” are too demanding for the average person. People with high energy or dominant dogs will slowly become prisoners to their dog’s problems. This “gentle” trend does not respect what a dog is and will result in fewer adoptions and more abandonments.

Instead of worshipping ignorance, learn what a dog really is, respect that, build a new relationship, and enjoy your dog.

I

l cambio di stagione dall’estate all’inverno è un periodo particolarmente delicato durante il quale il nostro organismo deve adattarsi a molti cambiamenti.

Riduzione delle ore di luce, sbalzi di temperatura, vento, stress fisici e mentali (lavoro, scuola, palestra, hobbies, impegni vari) possono rendere tutto più difficile rappresentando un carico che può suscitare risposte adeguate da parte di corpo e mente ma molto più frequentemente provoca un tilt di tutto il sistema; si riposa male, si è vittime della stanchezza, dell’ agitazione, della poca concentrazione e, ai primi freddi, subito ci si ammala.

Tanti sono i rimedi naturali, sostegni necessari in grado di aiutarci in questa fase come propoli, vitamina C e melatonina ma la via migliore è sempre la prevenzione.

Anzitutto, è buona norma un periodo anche breve (due settimane) di depurazione dalle scorie estive: succo di aloe vera, tisane, prodotti da sciogliere in acqua (5D di Denefit per gli sportivi è l’ ideale perché drena e depura) e il depurativo Phytodepura, sono alcuni rimedi officinali per affrontare al meglio questo passaggio. Successivamente, possiamo iniziare trattamenti più specifici e affidarci agli immunomodulanti, rigeneranti, tonificanti ed adattogeni (come echinacea, uncaria, ginseng, eleuterococco, rodiola) che tuttavia, senza un’adeguata depurazione, spesso risultano inefficaci. Oltre che fare il cambio degli armadi e aggiungere una coperta al letto, ricordiamoci di riequilibrare anche il corpo e la mente.

he change of season from summer to winter time is a particularly delicate one during which the body has to adapt to many changes.

Reduction in the hours of light, temperature variations, wind, physical and mental stress (work, school, gym, hobbies, various commitments) can make everything more difficult, they create a load that may stimulate the right responses from body and mind but much more frequently they cause a tilt of the entire system; we rest poorly, become the victims of fatigue, anxiety and lack of concentration and, with the first cold spell, we get ill.

There are many natural remedies available, necessary aids that can help us with this such as propolis, vitamin C and melatonin, but the best system is always prevention.

Above all, it is good practice to undergo a short period (two weeks) of detoxification from the residues of summer: aloe vera juice, teas, soluble products (5D from Denefit for sportsmen is ideal because it drains and purifies) and the detoxifier Phytodepura are some of the medicinal remedies available so we may better face this seasonal transition. Then we can start more specific treatments, putting our trust in immuno-modulators, regenerators, tonics and adaptogens (like echinacea, uncaria, ginseng, Siberian ginseng, rhodiola) that, however, without a proper detox, are often not effective. In addition to the change of clothing and adding a blanket to the bed, remember as well to rebalance the body and the mind.

Incontriamo Stefania, che insieme al papà e alla mamma ci racconta della storia del mitico ritrovo che vide gli albori nel lontano 1978 grazie ai nonni Elisabetta e Benito.

Un affare – quello dell’acquisto del locale – fatto dal nonno durante una battuta di caccia; fu lì, infatti, che gli venne proposto di comperarlo per poi dar vita al Bar Frizzino.

Inizialmente, si trattava della vecchia bottega di una volta e comprendeva anche la sala biliardo; è da allora che Stefano, il padre di Stefania, lavora nel locale ed è nel 1981, anno del suo matrimonio, che vi approdò anche la moglie Donatella. All’inizio degli anni novanta, il bar Frizzino fu oggetto di lavori di ampliamento che segnarono il suo passaggio definitivo da semplice bar a ritrovo vero e proprio di tutto il paese - che ancora oggi si riunisce all’interno della sua famosa veranda, sempre piena di cose buone.

Un indiscusso punto di riferimento per gli abitanti di Monterchi e, con l’ingresso di Stefania, anche per quelli più giovani che hanno iniziato ad apprezzare ed affollare il locale, ulteriormente ammodernato lo scorso anno.

We meet Stefania, who together with her father and the mother, tells the story of the mythical meeting that saw the beginnings of the bar in 1978 thanks to grandparents Elisabetta and Benito.

A deal – the purchase of the venue – made by her grandfather while out hunting; when, in fact, it was suggested that he buy what became the Bar Frizzino.

Initially it was an old-style local shop and included a billiards room; and then Stefano, Stefania’s father, started working there and in 1981, the year of his marriage, his wife Donatella joined him. In the early nineties, extension work was carried out at the Bar Frizzino that marked the final transition from a simple bar to a genuine meeting-point for Monterchi, which still gathers inside its famous porch which is always full of good things.

It’s an undoubted reference point for the inhabitants of Monterchi and, with the arrival of Stefania, including the younger citizens who have come to appreciate and enliven it, with further modernization carried out only last year.

The Bar Frizzino excels as a coffee bar with its care for detail and attentive choices, serving the Masini blend from Esse Caffè: that excellence rules here is obvious even in the simplest things, like

cui tutto ciò che viene servito in tavola proviene dai produttori dell’Alta Valle del Tevere. La pasta è rigorosamente fatta in casa, le verdure sono stagionali e la norcineria è prettamente locale, come anche le farine, la cacciagione, i cereali ed i legumi, oggi proposti in una sfiziosa “Zuppa del Carpina” con ben tredici diversi tipi di fagioli presenti.

Non da meno sono i funghi, un’altra deliziosa parentesi solo per intenditori: galletti, pioppini, prugnoli e trombette dei morti, oltre al celeberrimo porcino.

Ed ecco l’antipasto, una degustazione di tartufo bianco e nero locale, accompagnata da una passata di patate bianche con tartufo bianco: una cascata di petali del prezioso tubero che riempie prima gli occhi, quindi l’olfatto e termina in un tripudio di sapori con l’assaggio. Tutta la storia di una terra tanto ricca è ora raccontata in un piatto, un’opera d’arte senza eguali fatta con la maestria che serve per esaltare la semplicità del tartufo, adagiato su una fetta di pane con un filo d’olio o su un uovo al tegamino.

Ma nulla di tutto ciò preannuncia quel che viene dopo, con un primo piatto che trova il giusto compromesso tra terra e mare: lo Gnocco di patate di Pietralunga con

at table here comes from the producers of the Upper Tiber Valley. The pasta is homemade, the vegetables are seasonal and the pork products are very local, as well as the flour, the game, cereals and legumes, now available in a tasty Carpina soup with thirteen different types of beans.

Not least in the list are the mushrooms, another delicious parenthesis for connoisseurs: galletti, pioppini, prugnoli and trombette dei morti, apart from the famous porcino.

And here’s our starter, a taster of local black and white truffles, accompanied by white potato puree with white truffle: a cascade of petals of the precious tuber captures the eyes first, then the nose and ends with a riot of flavours to taste. The whole history of an abundant land told on a plate, in a work of art made with unmatched craftsmanship that serves to enhance with simplicity the truffle set on a slice of bread with a little olive oil or on a fried egg.

But that is nothing to what comes next, a first course that strikes a proper balance between land and sea: the Pietralunga potato gnocco with lake shrimp (€12), with the potato reaching its acme worked by Andreina’s hands, coloured by the creatures from the lake and spiced just right.

This brings us to the discovery of another delicacy: Fazzoletti stuffed with pumpkin with pioppini mushrooms and crispy pork cheek (€9), an explosion of taste and lightness with the crisp notes of cheek that adds character to the dish, but with a refined character determined by the union between pumpkin and pioppino.

special: Chianina beef home-seasoned with pepper and salt, the bun is made with torta al testo [a kind of schiacciata bread baked in an oven tray like a pizza, tr.] and maximum praise must go to the Pietralunga chips that we should all enjoy at least once in a lifetime.

At the end we get to dessert, a rather unusual one: a semifreddo of caciotta cheese with pears cooked in Lambrusco served for €3.50, as are all the desserts.

Before we leave, Emanuela informs us that for San Silvestro (New Year’s Eve) there is a fish-based feast for €60, and, from November 19 onwards there will be tastings called In vino veritas and every Friday in December, 5/4 evenings for his majesty the pig.

Una piccola delizia è rappresentata anche dal comune hamburger che Andreina ha reso speciale: la carne di chianina è condita in casa con sale e pepe, il panino è fatto con la torta al testo e il massimo apprezzamento va alle patatine fritte di Pietralunga che almeno una volta nella vita dovremmo tutti assaggiare.

Dulcis in fundo arriviamo al dessert, piuttosto unusual: il Semifreddo di caciotta con pere cotte al Lambrusco servito a € 3.50, come tutti i dessert.

Prima di andarcene, Emanuela ci informa che per San Silvestro è in programma il cenone a base di pesce a € 60, 00, mentre, dal 19 novembre, ogni giovedì si svolgeranno delle degustazioni chiamate “In vino veritas” e, da dicembre, ogni venerdì, le serate “5/4 di sua maestà il maiale”.

E’ buio da un po’ quando ci accomodiamo a tavola, stanchi e affamati, dopo una giornata fitta di appuntamenti di lavoro e ancora un po’ storditi dal passaggio all’ora solare che sancisce ufficialmente l’ingresso nella stagione fredda. Torniamo qui ad un anno esatto dalla nostra ultima review alla Terrazza, che si riconferma la meta ideale Appunti e spuntature per una serata informale con la famiglia o gli amici, all’insegna dei piatti della tradizione umbro toscana con contaminazioni dalla vicina Romagna, come dimostrato dai tagliolini ai funghi porcini (€ 8,00) che ci vengono serviti come primo piatto; un intreccio invitante di pasta all’uovo fatta in casa, con la sfoglia tirata a mano e tagliata stretta come fanno i nostri vicini confinanti, condita semplicemente con un filo d’olio, i porcini e una spolverata di timo.

La pasta è perfettamente integra e soda, come piace a me che amo le cotture al dente, mentre la semplicità del condimento contribuisce ad esaltare il gusto del fungo prelibato.

Mentre il mio commensale opta per un calice di vino rosso in abbinamento alle pietanze, io mi faccio tentare da una Kwak doppio malto, una delle birre belghe proposte alla Terrazza, di un sontuoso color ambrato e dai sentori di caramello, che mi

Dusk had fallen a while back when we came to sit at table, tired and hungry after a day full of business meetings and also a little stunned by the transition to Winter time that officially marks the entry into the cold season. We’re back here exactly one year since our last review of La Terrazza, which once again shows itself as the ideal destination for an evening out with family or friends, under the banner of traditional Umbro-Tuscan dishes with influences from nearby Romagna, as demonstrated by tagliolini with porcini mushrooms (€8) that we are served as a first course; a tangle of inviting homemade pasta, with hand-rolled pastry and cut narrow as is the style of our neighbours, simply seasoned with a little oil, the mushrooms and sprinkled with thyme. The pasta is perfectly intact and solid, as I like it, I simply love it cooked al dente, while the simplicity of the sauce helps to enhance the taste of the delicious mushrooms.

While my companion opts for a glass of red wine to partner the food, I am tempted by the Kwak double malt, one of the Belgian beers offered at La Terrazza, with a sumptuous amber colour and hints of caramel, which I also drink with the main course chosen on the advice of Cinzia who explains: “The pork strips we offer (€10) are more flavourful than the classic rib; it’s the part closest to the

accompagnerà anche nella degustazione del secondo piatto scelto su consiglio di Cinzia la quale ci spiega: “Le spuntature di maiale che proponiamo (€ 10,00) sono un’alternativa più saporita rispetto alla classica costina; si tratta della parte più prossima all’osso nonché ciò che rimane una volta scorporata l’arista. Stasera ve le presentiamo alla griglia, sfumate con la birra Kwak scelta come accompagnamento e arricchite con olio, sale, pepe, peperoncino e aglio”. Il piatto che arriva al tavolo è di una bellezza tale da venire accolto come un caro amico che non si incontra da anni, in una standing ovation quasi infantile ma del tutto giustificata; una portata unica arricchita da zucchine, peperoni, melanzane grigliate e servite con un pinzimonio di olio, aglio e prezzolo.

Cinzia – molti sono i richiami ai piatti della tradizione tirolese: oltre alle servelade (tipo di wurstel, ndr), molto apprezzato è lo stinco di maiale (€ 10,00), acquistato da un fornitore altoatesino, arrostito al forno a legna con aggiunta di aglio, rosmarino, salvia, sale e pepe”.

Sto ancora lavorando di fino alle costine che il pensiero dello stinco evoca pensieri impuri e ho già in mente una persona speciale da invitare, la prossima volta, per una degustazione di coppia…

Finiamo di gratificarci con un dolce, rigorosamente homemade: meringa alla crema chantilly con gocce di cioccolato ( € 4,00) che vorremmo non finisse mai e invece …PUFF! Spazzolata.

L’inverno alle porte sarà lungo e freddo ma non se si sceglie di passare qui qualche bella serata. Cinzia ed Emanuele, infatti, dal 14 novembre hanno pronta una strepitosa serie di concerti live che ci terranno compagnia ogni sabato sera, una ragione in più per scappare alla Madonnuccia.

We finish with a sweet reward, strictly homemade: meringue with chantilly cream with chocolate chips (€4) that we wish would never finish but... PUFF! All gone.

The winter at the gates will be long and cold but not if you choose to come here one nice evening. Cinzia and Emanuele, in fact, have organised an amazing series of live concerts from November 14 on that will keep us company every Saturday night, one more reason to escape to Madonnuccia.

ovembre dai due volti: prima metà asciutta e mite, seconda metà più piovosa e fredda

L’intensità record del Nino ed altri fattori climatici minori continuano a condizionare pesantemente l’andamento climatico sul nostro emisfero. Tutto questo agevola sensibilmente chi elabora proiezioni meteo climatiche sul medio/lungo termine poiché gli schemi delle configurazioni bariche tendono a ripetersi con poche varianti, almeno per quanto riguarda il clima autunnale. Insomma, il cliché rimane lo stesso.

Nel lungo e tiepido inizio di novembre abbiamo rilevato una situazione meteo sostanzialmente bloccata da una vasta ed intensa area depressionaria, stazionante in aperto Oceano Atlantico. Più a sud, invece, ha dominato una vasta e robusta area anticiclonica afro mediterranea. Sull’Italia ci sono state una serie di giornate con cielo prevalentemente sereno o poco nuvoloso, nebbie di notte ed al mattino nei fondovalle e temperature massime sopra la norma, specie in collina e montagna - dove l’irradiamento solare è stato presente fin dalle prime ore del mattino Dopo un inizio mite e soleggiato, la seconda decade di novembre inizierà ancora con una circolazione anticiclonica sopra l’Italia, con l’affermazione tuttavia di correnti più fresche nord orientali che, sul nostro comprensorio, oltre a spazzar via le nebbie, causeranno un significativo calo delle temperature - che si riporteranno nella media stagionale. Il rischio precipitazioni continuerà ad essere molto basso e relegato alla dorsale appenninica.

Qualcosa di più significativo si concretizzerà poi quando assisteremo ad un lento spostamento verso oriente delle grandi aree depressionarie nord atlantiche.

Ciò comporterà: prima un abbassamento di latitudine delle aree anticicloniche euro mediterranee, poi un’espansione verso nord dell’anticiclone delle Azzorre con conseguente proiezione verso sud delle aree depressionarie in transito sul nord Europa.

Intorno al 20 del mese dunque, potremmo essere investiti da una serie di impulsi perturbati, provenienti prima dal mar del Nord poi dalla Scandinavia, con calo termico ed aumento della piovosità un po’ su tutta l’Italia: prime significative nevicate in Appennino fin sui 1500 metri di quota.

A fine mese sembra poter tornare la tramontana che annuncerà una nuova fase anticiclonica. L’inizio di dicembre sarà stabile e soleggiato ma con le prime gelate notturne.

The record intensity of El Niño and other minor climatic factors continue to heavily influence the climate in our hemisphere. All this considerably aids those who develop climate projections for medium to long term forecasts because the configurations of baric patterns tend to repeat themselves with minor variations, at least for the autumn weather. In short, the cliché remains the same.

In the long and warm early November we found a weather situation substantially blocked by a large and intense low pressure area lying over the open Atlantic Ocean. Further South, however, a vast and rugged Afro-Mediterranean anti-cyclonic area dominated. Italy has seen a number of days with mostly clear or slightly cloudy sky, fog at night and in the morning on the valley floor and maximum temperatures above normal, especially in the hills and mountains – where good sunlight has been present from the early hours of the morning After starting out mild and sunny, in the second week of November cyclonic circulation will start again over Italy, with the influx, however, of cooler North-Eastern currents in our district, as well as mists sweeping in, causing a significant drop in temperatures – which will be within seasonal averages. The risk of precipitation will continue to be very low and relegated to the Apennines.

Something more meaningful will materialize when we will see the great North Atlantic low pressure areas slowly moving East.

This will involve: first a movement down the latitudes of Euro Mediterranean anti-cyclonic areas, then a Northward expansion to the Azores and the consequent projection to the South of the low pressure areas passing across Northern Europe.

Around the 20th of the month, therefore, we could be hit by a series of disruptive pulses, the first coming from the North Sea and Scandinavia, with a fall in temperature and increase in rainfall a bit over the whole of Italy and the first significant snowfall in the Apennines under the 1500 metre mark. At the end of the month the wind that will announce a new anti-cyclonic phase seems set to return. Early December will be stable and sunny but with the first frosts.
