Vail, Colorado’s iconic open-air entertainment venue hosts an array of unique and unforgettable performances with a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains, with programmingtypically from May through September. This year, the Vail Valley Foundation (VVF) & AEG Presents were fortunate enough to receive funding support from the Town of Vail & Vail Resorts tied specifically to an April concert event. The funding from the Town of Vail & Vail Resorts allowed the VVF & AEG to “de-winterize” The Amp and host two nights of vibrant, electronic-heavy, global artists and DJs to help celebrate the end of Vail’s 60th Anniversary season. If not for the funding, the VVF would not have attempted to host winter-season concerts at the Amp due to the risk, venue preparation, time & expense. The Amp was designed and built as a summer venue, so hosting concerts during the winter requires significant venue modifications, safety measures, snow removal and weather planning. Most of the funding was utilized to prepare the venue to safely host 2500+ people per night. In typical event-world fashion, Mother Nature decided to deliver an epic winter of snow, which made the dewinterization of The Amp exponentially more challenging and expensive than originally anticipated. Here are some de-winterization & event facts:
$728,000 TOTAL EVENT EXPENSES
115 GROUND COVER MATS

16 STAGE-HANDS PER NIGHT
1500 LBS ICE MELT USED
