We’ve got the tools, expertise, and support to help you transfer to UW-River Falls and thrive when you get here. Your transfer journey is unique to you - the school you attended, the credits you’ve taken, and we’re here to provide a personalized plan to make transferring as seamless as possible.
You can set up an in-person or virtual appointment with our transfer admissions counselor. We’ll talk you through your plans, share more about our academic programs, cost, financial aid, and the resources available to you as a transfer student. Before you enroll, you’ll work with an adviser to review your unofficial credit evaluation and learn more about course equivalencies.
• Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC): Completed MnTC will grant a waiver of General Education and University Requirements (except for a one credit Health and Fitness for Life course). Specific college, degree, licensure and prerequisite requirements must still be completed with individual courses.
• Associate of Arts (AA) degrees from Minnesota and Wisconsin will grant a waiver of University Requirements and General Education requirements. Specific degree, licensure and prerequisite requirements must still be completed with individual courses. AA degrees from other states are reviewed individually to see if they qualify for a similar waiver. “I was able to spend five weeks in Europe studying my favorite subject. My summer experience allowed me to have unique learning experiences. UWRF’s resources work together to make this process simple, for example our Financial Aid Office set up an individual meeting with me to break down the financial part of the program. This journey was something I will never forget and gave me life skills I couldn’t learn inside the classroom.”

“When I came to college as a freshman I was very nervous. I was lucky enough to be a part of a living and learning community in May Hall. From that first day onward, I met such wonderful friends. I didn’t realize it would happen so quickly. I thought making friends in this unknown environment would be a little more difficult, but everyone was so welcoming and helpful. I truly found my second home here on campus thanks to the people that are here and it’s made a difference in my life and helped me grow as a person.”
College can be one of the best experiences of your life and much of that excitement comes from living away from home for the first time. First and second-year students living in our residence halls will discover all the advantages of living on campus. You’ll be close to classes, minutes away from dining options and in a safe, supportive environment.
Residence halls have come a long way! UWRF has 11 residence halls and two types of buildings:
• Traditional: Available for all students, double rooms, shared common areas and bathrooms.
• Suite-style: Available for upperclass students, double and single rooms, shared kitchenette, living area and bathrooms. New this year! Second year students can choose to live in Prucha Hall. Prucha residents share a traditional dorm room with a roommate and also have a shared common room/ lounge space with another pair of residents.
Cool, but what’s my room going to look like? Scan the code for a virtual look.
Features of your residence hall include:
• Moveable furniture to personalize your room
• Loftable bed that maximizes living and storage space
• Microwave/refrigerator units in each room
• Furnished study areas and community lounges
• Wireless internet
• Free laundry, kitchen access and recreational spaces
• Campus safety and security features
• Professional and student staff resources

So the space is great, but what about the people? Don’t worry, you’ll find a strong sense of community in all our residence halls. Some of our communities even connect students with common interests or similar majors. These learning communities are optional, but they’re a great way to connect with your fellow students. Communities include Animal Science, Visual and Performing Arts, STEM, Agriculture and Food Science, Honors, TEACH, Eco Nest, Fitness, Wellness and Outdoor Rec, Gaming and ESports, Pride, Substance Free, and Transfer Students.
Students (including first-year students) may purchase a residential or commuter parking permit. Rates vary depending on the lot. Permits are sold on a first come, first served basis so if you’re interested, put this on your to-do list!
You can request to commute if you live at your permanent address with your parent(s) or a legal guardian and your residence is within the approved commuting zip codes found on our website (or within 30 miles as verified on Google Maps). To view the full policy or check your zip code, scan the QR code.

UW-River Falls is consistently ranked as one of the most affordable colleges in the Midwest.
The Princeton Review has named UWRF on their “Best Regional Colleges” list over 20 times. UWRF is one of four in Wisconsin to be chosen for the list. The list is based on feedback from current students about the colleges they attend and their experiences.
UWRF is also a Top Performer on Social Mobility - what does that mean for you? It means that we support our students - especially those who face extra challenges when pursuing a college education. It also means that you’re more likely to increase your income and improve your socio-economic status once you graduate.

UW-River Falls is committed to investing in your future by offering need, merit-based and guaranteed scholarships to students with a history of strong academic performance. These scholarships may be combined with nearly all our selective scholarships. Scan the QR code to learn more.
Once you’ve been admitted, you will have access to our online scholarship application. We’ve made it easy. Complete one single application and you’ll be auto-matched with all the scholarships you qualify for. Find the application at www.uwrf. academicworks.com.
You will be considered for meritbased scholarships whether you submit test scores or not. When determining your scholarship award, we’ll look at the same factors we considered when evaluating your application for admission - primarily your academic performance in high school.
Standardized test scores will be factored into your scholarship award if you choose to submit them, but it will not hurt your chances at scholarship funding if you choose to apply without test scores.
NOTE: In rare exceptions, test scores may be required if you want to be considered for one of our Foundation scholarship programs.
That’s right, we said guaranteed. And the best part? No additional application is necessary. If your GPA is a 3.3 or higher, you’ll be awarded one of the following scholarships:
Interested in receiving federal and state financial aid? You need to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
1. Beginning in late fall, complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov with school code 003923. For faster processing, apply for your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to electronically sign the FAFSA.
2. After you file your FAFSA, you will receive your FAFSA Submission Summary. Review it thoroughly and make any needed corrections.
3. The Department of Education may select your FAFSA for verification purposes. If this happens, our Financial Aid Office will ask that you submit additional documents for our records.

3. Submit transcripts
*When applying to UWRF, you have the choice if you want to submit standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) with your admission application.
How Do I Know if I Should Apply Test-Optional?
If you’re satisfied with your scores and think they accurately reflect your academic achievements, we encourage you to include them with your application.
If you don’t think your scores accurately reflect your academic ability and potential, you should consider applying Test-Optional. You won’t be penalized for not including them, but you should know once you submit your application, you won’t be able to add them if you change your mind.
Application Complete!
We know that GPA, class rank and course options vary widely between high schools, so we will continue to do a comprehensive review of your application. Although we’ll consider both academic and non-academic factors, your performance in the classroom remains the most important factor in our review process.
High school GPA is a strong predictor of success in college, so we’ll take a close look at your high school transcript, evaluating both the challenge of your high school courses and your academic performance. We’ll also consider your extracurricular activities, personal achievements, community service, family commitments, employment responsibilities and any other information that you’d like to provide.
What If I Got a Direct Admit Wisconsin Letter?
You’ll need to submit an Enrollment Form to complete your student record and let us know you are accepting our offer of admission. It doesn’t mean you are committing to attending UW-River Falls, but it ensures that we stay in touch with you as you make that college decision. Visit apply.wisconsin.edu/direct-admit for more information.
