Camp Kesem UW 2012
his year campers’ “Are we there yet?!” cries were answered Hogwarts Day as Camp Kesem UW enjoyed a week of Road Trip fun. Boarding our two buses to head to camp 2012 allowed us to reflect on how much our Kesem family has grown. Our camp began in 2010 with just 15 campers, then 38 in 2011, and this year 66 campers traveled to Under the camp together. Sea Day While camp will always have the same traditions, this year we were able to share our magic with even more campers as we hosted our first teen camp! Teens ages 14 to 16 joined our youth at Camp MacLean in Burlington, Wisconsin. Summer 2012 was also the first time that Camp Kesem UW has ever experienced rain. But that didn’t stand in our way! The rain allowed everyone to work together and have fun inside in ways that we may not have had the chance to if it had been all sunny skies. However, we most definitely enjoyed the days when the weather was “hotter than hot,” which our camp sang about in one of our new favorite songs. Days outside were filled with swimming, arts and crafts, sports, and high and low ropes courses. Our favorite runaway gorilla, Coco, even followed us to our new campgrounds and there were many sightings by campers throughout the week. Our road trip Color Wars came to a close on our final evening when the teen camp hosted our third annual talent show. The last three magic-filled summers of camp, and our future camps to come, could not be possible without the support and donations of all of our sponsors. Each and every one of our now 104-member family could not be more grateful for all of your support. Thank you so much.
