A GUIDE TO NAVIGATE PRIMARY RECRUITMENT
Go Greek Module
August 4th-8th
August 4th, you will receive a link to both the Go Greek module and the Health and Safety module. You are able to complete these at your own pace by August 8th.
For the Go Greek module, you will read a brief introduction from each Chapter President. Then, you will watch a short Introductory video from the chapter to learn more about their history, values, philanthropy, and campus involvement. After each video, you will be asked to answer a multiplechoice question. After completing the question, the next video will be unlocked.You will be able to go back and watch videos again.We recommend taking notes while watching that you can refer back to while inputting your preferences during a Zoom with your Gamma Chi on August 8th! If you have any questions please reach out to your Gamma Chi or Panhellenic Recruitment Team.
Orientation August 3rd
Orientation will be on Zoom the night of August 3rd. PNMs will have the opportunity to sign up for a session.

August 11th-13th
The Philanthropy and Service Round will last three days and will begin in-person rounds, giving PNMs the opportunity to visit up to 10 chapters for 30 minutes each. The purpose of this round is for PNMs to learn about the philanthropic organizations that each Chapter supports locally and nationally. Additionally, PNMs will be able to share about their previous volunteer activities and passions.
The recommended attire is cute, casual, and comfortable. Outfit ideas include pairing blouses with casual skirts or shorts, or opting for a casual dress. Footwear options can include wedges, sandals, or sneakers. Outfit Insporation can be found below!
Sisterhood
August 14th
& 15th
Sisterhood Round is spread over the course of 2 days, PNMs may attend up to 6 chapters' sisterhood events, each of which are 45 minutes long. PNMs will learn what membership looks like for each chapter and gain a deeper understanding of chapter values and individuality. Chapters will also discuss financial costs and time obligations. This is a great time for women to ask more specific questions about relationships, connections, opportunities, and experiences within the chapter
For this round, the suggested attire is slightly more formal than Philanthropy and Service round. Recommended outfits include a nice skirt and blouse, a stylish romper, or a more formal sundress. The attire is similar to what one might wear to a nice brunch.
Prefernece August 16th
Preference Round is the final and most serious round of primary recruitment. PNMs may be invited up to 2 chapters' preference rounds, each one hour long. During this round, chapters will show a more serious side of the organization, revealing some ritual and personal stories about what their chapters mean to them.Women should focus on connections, values, and how they feel in each of the chapters on this day.
This is the most formal round of recruitment.Wear something that you would be comfortable wearing to graduation, such as a nice dress or cocktail attire.
Schedule and Bus Pick Up
Buses will pick up on at Gate 21 at Neyland Stadium.
PNMs will be able to walk to lower Alumni Memorial Building (1408 Middle Dr) and find the buses!
Conflicts
Move-In Conflicts
We understand that many PNMs are moving in on August 11th, which is the first day of Philanthropy and Service Round. Schedules will be accommodated based on move-in dates.
College Connect Conflicts
We understand that College Connect Orientations fall on Preference round. Schedules for that round will be built based off PNMs’ college schedules.
Other Conflicts
Please communicate any other conflicts with your Gamma Chi. Please note that not all accommodations are guaranteed so please prioritize being available during recruitment.
Companion App
PNMs will receive their daily schedules and submit their preferences after each round through the Campus Director PNM Companion App.
PNMs will have the opportunity to get familiar with the app and submit Go Greek preferences with the help of their Gamma Chi afterVirtual Orientation on August 8th.
Gamma Chis
What is a Gamma Chi?
“Gamma Chis” serve as Recruitment Counselors here during Primary Recruitment. Gamma Chis are active members of all 13 chapters who choose to “disaffiliate” during Primary Recruitment to aid and counsel PNMs during their recruitment experience.
How will I know who my Gamma Chi is?
Your Gamma Chi will reach out to you after registration closes in July!
What is a Gamma Chi group?
When PNMs go through Recruitment, they will be assigned a Gamma Chi group. These groups are usually comprised of 13-15 PNMs and their Gamma Chi. Before the start of each day, PNMs will meet up their Gamma Chi to go over their schedule and check in.
Will my Gamma Chi be useful throughout recruitment?
Yes! PNMs are encouraged to rely on their Gamma Chis for advice and guidance throughout Recruitment.
How will I find my Gamma Chi during recruitment?
Your Gamma Chi will reach out to each morning to let you know where they are stationed that day!
FAQ
Will I Miss a Round if I am Assigned to Move in on August 11th?
No!We are accounting for Move-In conflicts and accommodating schedules to ensure that PNMs will not miss a round.
Do I Need to Provide My Own Meals During Recruitment?
Lunch will be provided only during The Philanthropy and Service round of Recruitment. There will be light snacks provided throughout recruitment week, however PNMs are responsible for all other meals during the week.We reccomend utilizing on-campus dining options during the week.
What if I have a Scheduling Conflict with one of the days of recruitment?
Panhellenic is aware that college orientations fall on the day of Preference round, PNM schedules during Preference will be created accordingly. Please communicate any other scheduling conflicts with your Gamma Chi.

Ignore rumours and stereotypes that circulate during the week! Stay off social media platforms and rumours that circle the tent.
Come Prepared!
Bring anything you may need in your PNM bag! There will be long days and it’s best to be as prepared as possible! There will also be activities in the tent during rounds!
Find Comfort in the people around you!
Talk to your Gamma Chi! Find friendships with the women in your group and women you meet throughout the week!
Take
Care ofYourself!
Prioritize yourself both mentally and physically! Stay hydrated, talk to people you love, and make you take care of yourself!
Greek Terminology
National Pan-Hellenic Conference (NPHC):
A council composed of the nine (“Divine Nine”) historically Black Greek-letter organizations.
New Member:
The period when a woman joins a sorority but is not yet initiated into the chapter.
Philanthropy:
A national and/or local non-profit that a sorority sponsors, donating time and money through service to promote human welfare.
(PNM): Any woman who is eligible to participate in Primary Recruitment or Continuous Open Bidding. Potential New Member (PNM):
Primary Recruitment:
Recruitment: A designated membership recruitment period during which a series of organized events are held to select new members.
Values-Based Recruitment:
Focusing on how your values, such as academics, equality, inclusion, and service, align with different chapters’ values.
Active:
A sorority member currently in college, who has been formally initiated by her chapter.
Alumna:
An initiated sorority member who is no longer active in a collegiate chapter.
Continuous Open Bidding (COB):
The opportunity for a sorority that has not met the Campus Total to recruit additional members.
Intake:
Also referred to as Membership Intake, it is a process through which NPHC and some UGC sororities select new members.
Single Intentional Preference:
When a PNM attends more than one preference event but limits her membership selections by not listing all her sorority options on her MRABA.
Membership Recruitment
Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA):
A document that each Potential New Member completes immediately following the preference round of parties, ranking her membership preferences. This is a binding agreement stating that the PNM is writing to accept a bid from any sorority she lists.
