This report highlights the career outcomes, or "first destination data," for the Class of 2024 graduates from August 2023, December 2023, and May 2024. The data was collected by the Center for Career Development & Academic Exploration (CCDAE).
In 2023, we enhanced our data analysis by working directly with raw data from 12Twenty rather than relying on pre-generated reports. This shift allows for a more tailored and indepth analysis.
CCDAE follows data collection protocols established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and contributes to NACE’s annual reporting Career outcome data is gathered through emails, phone calls, events, academic departments, university records, and social media (e g , LinkedIn) Information is collected for up to six months post-graduation
NACE defines the knowledge rate as the percentage of graduates for whom reliable post-graduation information is available In 2024, the knowledge rate remained strong at 80 4%, well above NACE’s benchmark of 65%
Employed (six months postgraduation):60 6%
Continuing education:29 7%
Positive career outcome rate:90 4%
Still seeking employment/education:5 7%
Median salary:$62,000
Mean salary:$60,312
Some graduate programs follow reporting standards set by their accrediting bodies. For example, business programs in the Haslam College of Business use Career Service
Employer Alliance guidelines. Because reporting formats vary, aggregate data for all master’s students (such as overall knowledge rate or career outcomes) is not included
Individual colleges can provide further details upon request

Salary data is more challenging to collect as not all students will report it, and data collected from alternative means, such as LinkedIn profiles, will not include salaries UT’s salary varies widely by college and major The mean and median have been steadily rising each year. Because the number of salary data points for graduate students is not sufficient, only college means and medians are reported
*To keep aggregate data anonymous, only salaries for majors with 3 or more reported are published
