The EMBA also provides the unique opportunity to interact and study with other seasoned business professionals - seniorlevel individuals in a variety of fields, such as finance, health care, information technology, and manufacturing. Executive MBA graduates earn exactly the same degree as our full-time MBA students. With our weekend class schedule, students can combine study and career in a way that substantially enhances the learning experience. HERE’S HOW IT WORKS •

Participants have an average 14 years of professional work experience and have strong potential for senior-level leadership positions in their current organizations or in their future jobs.

Through our unique schedule, students continue moving forward in their careers uninterrupted. With Friday and Saturday classes every other week, students can be ready to apply the skills they learn in class immediately in the workplace. Two one-week intensive sessions and an international field study provide students with an in-depth learning experience and international perspective.

Because we want our students to focus on gaining their education, our staff focuses on streamlining all administrative concerns. Before the first day of class, the Executive MBA staff take care of course registration, textbooks and class materials and parking permits. EMBA laptops are loaded and ready to go. Students have easy access to printing and copying on class days and can count on catered breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Many participants are sponsored by their employers. Many are also self-sponsored. The motivated professionals and entrepreneurs that enroll in the Executive MBA program know that their investment will pay for itself many times over.

Admission to the program is competitive and is based on several factors. A GMAT/GRE substitution is available.

THE PEOPLE Our students, faculty, alumni, and administrative staff are the forces behind our Executive MBA program’s reputation, quality, and real-world results. Throughout the program, participants build close relationships with faculty and fellow students. Each class is divided into study groups that meet face-to-face and electronically to work on assignments or prepare for upcoming classes. These groups are a vital source of support, assistance, different perspectives, and camaraderie. The week-long intensive sessions provide further opportunities to develop connections with seasoned leaders in a variety of fields. Highly-Ranked Faculty Faculty of the David Eccles School of Business hold Ph.D’s from the most prestigious colleges and universities in the world, including Northwestern University’s Kellogg School, Stanford Business School, University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, Harvard Business School, Duke University’s Fuqua School, the University of Michigan’s Ross School, UCLA’s Anderson School, and the London School of Economics. Most have had significant business management experience. They interface with the business community as consultants and board members and consistently publish in top research journals. Their research is cited in internationally recognized business publications such as The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Barron’s.


THE CURRICULUM The Executive MBA features a high-level general management program designed for experienced managers. It is a cohorted program with all participants taking the same courses throughout the 21 months of class. The courses deliver in-depth knowledge of business fundamentals, analytical skills, creative solutions, and vision that extends beyond current employment, industry, and region. The faculty teach how to apply analytical methods and conceptual tools from finance, statistics, behavioral science, and other academic disciplines to solve complex business problems and improve leadership skills. Students balance problem-solving with broad perspectives and conceptual skills. In the end, they will be prepared to create solutions and implement them within the context of their organization. Our faculty continually update their courses to reflect the latest thinking in their fields and critical issues facing the marketplace. They are the men and women who write the theory and practical solutions that become industry standard.

THE INTERNATIONAL ADVANTAGE Geographic borders have evaporated in the modern business world, bringing new challenges and opportunities. The Executive MBA program embraces this reality by weaving a global focus throughout the entire program. Faculty members strive to incorporate global case studies and research projects in each class. Courses like International Finance and Intensive Week II: Managing in the Global Economy help students to think beyond their own industries and markets.

The 21-month program culminates with an International Field Study, where students get the chance to go behindthe-scenes at major multinational companies, gaining an insider’s view of global best practices, policies, and procedures. During the International Field Study, students tour renowned firms and have direct contact with high-level executives and government officials. Previous EMBA classes have visited Chile, China, Argentina, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Japan.

ADMISSIONS

ACCESS THE ONLINE APPLICATION AT APPLYUTAHMBA.COM We recommend submitting your application as early as possible, as candidates are reviewed and decisions are given on a rolling basis. Applications are accepted through mid-August. Applications received after the class is full will be added to a wait list and/or be considered for next year’s class. Letter of Recommendation and Nomination Form The applicant’s direct supervisor must complete both the nomination form and write the letter of recommendation. The letter should discuss how long and in what capacity the recommender has known the applicant, as well as the applicant’s strengths, weaknesses, personal character, and potential for success in the Executive MBA program. The nomination form and letter can be completed online by inputting the recommender’s contact details in the online application. Alternatively, recommenders can email their completed form and letter to the Executive MBA program at EMBA@Utah.edu.

College Transcripts Interview A bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited university or college is mandatory. Unofficial transcripts from each institution you attended need to be uploaded to the online application, and official transcripts must be submitted by email to admisstranscripts@sa.utah.edu or by mail to:

The GMAT/GRE examination is waived in most cases depending on an individual’s undergraduate GPA, graduate GPA, and work experience. The Executive MBA Program Director cannot authorize the final waiver until we have received all required application materials and conducted an interview. If you would like to waive the GMAT, we encourage you to turn in your application materials as early as possible to expedite the process.
