Karen Peeler is professor of voice and pedagogy at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where she heads the graduate program in vocal pedagogy and is co-director of the Helen Swank Voice Teaching and Research Laboratory, and advisor for the graduate interdisciplinary program in singing health. Dr. Peeler holds degrees from Tulane University (BA, English), the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (MM, vocal performance), and the Florida State University (DM, vocal performance). Included among her teachers and coaches are Elena Nikolaidi, Oren Brown, Hubert Kockritz, John Wustman, Harold Heiberg, Thomas Grubb, Karl Pilss and Hans-Peter Schilly. She has performed leading roles in opera, operetta and musical theater throughout the United States and has concertized widely in the U.S., Austria and Italy. She can be heard with her chamber trio, TRIO ARIANA, on their compact disc of original music for voice, viola and piano, Renovations and Rhymes on the Eroica label.

Thomas F. Cleveland is director of vocology at the Vanderbilt Voice Center and associate professor of Otolaryngology in the School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, where he conducts research and is involved in team management and care of the singing voice. Dr. Cleveland has lectured in Australia, Brazil, England, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey and the United States. He is the author of more than 70 articles and research papers that have been published in the NATS Journal, The Journal of Singing, The Journal of Research in Singing, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America and The Journal of Voice. Dr. Cleveland holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and conducted graduate and postgraduate research with Dr. Johan Sundberg at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, as a Fulbright Scholar and as the recipient of a grant from the Voice Foundation of America.
