THIS WEEK: The Dons only game this week takes place on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against No. 12 Stanford in a non-conference tilt. San Francisco travels south down I-280 to Palo Alto, to face the Cardinal for the first time since defeating Stanford, 5-1, on March 29, 2010. Haden Hinkle earned the win in relief of Jordan Remer, while Derek Poppert and Stephen Yarrow combined to go 5-for-7 with 5 RBI in the Dons’ triumph. WEEK THAT WAS: The Dons turned in a perfect 4-0 week, defeating Pacific on Tuesday before sweeping Santa Clara in a three-game WCC set. San Francisco has now won four of its last five series, including three-game sweeps over then-No. 30 Gonzaga and Santa Clara. The Dons received remarkable pitching efforts from preseason All-American Kyle Zimmer on Friday (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 11 K, 2 BB) and two-time WCC Pitcher of the Week award winner, Abe Bobb, on Sunday (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 9 K, 0 BB). LOOKING AHEAD: After playing Stanford, the Dons will take on Saint Mary’s in the final three games of the 2012 season. The Gaels currently rank 8th in the WCC with a 7-14 record in conference play. GOLDEN SPIKES WATCH LIST: Junior RHP Kyle Zimmer was named to the 60Man Midseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List last week. The La Jolla, Calif., native leads the WCC in shutouts (2), strikeouts (96), and strikeouts per nine innings (10.37) and ranks eighth in ERA (2.59).
