INDIANAPOLIS – DAA Northwest Auto Auction received the National Auto Auction Association’s Auction of the Year honor during the group’s annual convention here in October. Bob McConkey, president of the McConkey Auction Group, accepted the award from Chad Bailey, the outgoing NAAA president. “This award goes to KCI, DAA Seattle and DAA Northwest,” McConkey said, citing all three members of the auction group. Bailey said the creation of the award was to honor auctions along with “the men and women whose devotion to others have made the

world a better place.” He added that all the nominees “bring value and purpose to the lives of others.” The Spokane, Wash., sale was chosen for its fundraising and volunteer efforts to address the domestic violence, abuse, homelessness, hunger, school absenteeism, achievement gap, and other issues afflicting the children of its historically impoverished community. Four years ago, DAA Northwest made a long-term commitment to the students and staff of Sunset Elementary by “adopting” the school Continued on page 6
