HOMECOMING

The dance was a turning point in Brewer's school spirit and was the perfect way to wrap up homecoming weekend.

There were two photo booths, Hollywood themed decorations and the availability to get snacks and drinks through the tickets received upon entrance.

"The dance was one of the best dances Brewer has every had" says senior Zaebrion Leonard.

This dance was the preview to prom I wanted" said homecoming king RJ Weathered

"The homecoming dance was so much better than expected! We expected around 200 people but the final numbers counted almost 600 students!" stated STUCO Vice President Zion Curb.

"What I have in mind for all students at BHS is to make this a memorable four year experience."

"Student Council's weeks of preparation paid off and it could not have happened without all of the students and staff that volunteered their time" says STUCO Sponsor Vanessa Garza.

Despite some obstacles, such as a change in location, student council enjoyed putting on the dance and the students enjoyed attending.

Keeping spirits high with the Brewer underdogs

The mentality that pushes Brewer to do their best

Even after a tough loss, it is important to stay optimistic. There come times where teams have a rough start, but it is all about keeping a positive mentality that is going to make players want to better themselves and strive to win the next game.

"We make the players see the possibilities they can do in the future," Said Head Coach Jason Wheeler.

Every game is a learning experience,

you never really know how a game is going to go.

"Being able to fix mistakes at halftime and coming back stronger the second half is what keeps the team on track" said Wheeler.

It is about righting the wrongs and not just focusing on the scoreboard.

Comparing yourself and your team will get you no where, but staying hopeful and being willing to fix the mistakes made will only get you and your team closer to winning.

Dakories, he is the Moment

"He's hard working, he strives to do his best. He does anything to improve his game," said former teammate Jordon Johnson.

For those reasons, Dakories Moment is Brewer's spotlight football player!

Moment has been playing football since he was five-yearsold and it has been his dream and passion since.

His coaches and teammates see him as a hard working and determined team player.

"He always does his job to the best of his ability." said Head Coach Jason Wheeler.

"He's a good honest and genuine person. Great to be around. A true fan favorite" said teammate Mehki Elmore

For Moment, there is always room for improvement. He is always finding a way to better himself to not only benefit himself, but to also benefit the team.

"I got bigger, faster and stronger, compared to last year," said Moment.

With determination and strive to make yourself better, anything is possible.

Moments' inspiration is a big influence on who he is today because it's what keeps him going.

"My biggest inspiration is my mom and my teammates, I do it for them," Moment said.

Moment is a humble, inspirational and supportive friend on and off the field. His selflessness has gotten him where he is today.

Brewer's theme for the Sept. 16, 2022 home game was Minions! With the popularity of Minions; Rise of Gru coming out, Brewer had lots of students, friends and families come out to experience the student section and enjoy the football game.

"I think what I miss most about Brewer is the student section," said former student Jordon Johnson.

Brewer's student section is what keeps the game hyped, even if they are losing it is what gives the students motivation to get louder: to motivate the players to get the win.

some people may not think so, but student sections and team spirit have a huge impact on the game,

they unite the school as a whole to support their team. Giving the players that extra boost of motivation.

A big contribution to Brewer's amazing student section is Blue Crew! They have the best students who know exactly how to get the crowd going.

"Blue crew is trying to just spread love and support around all sports orgs. A lot of times people feel embarrassed to actually support our school and that's something Blue Crew wants to help with to give the teams that motivation to succeed" said Blue crew member, Cris Rios.

Brewer's school spirit is one to remember and one to always want to come back to!

"Brewer's student section never fails to amaze me, they make Friday night lights ten times better" said junior, Jonah Barrera.

Summary: The story begins with 23-year-old Tate Collins moving into her brother's San Francisco apartment. On her first night in town, she finds an intoxicated Miles Archer laying against her brother’s apartment door. Over the course of the next few weeks, there is a clear attraction and romantic tension between the Tate and Miles. During a Thanksgiving trip to her parents' home, Tate and Miles strike up an agreement: Miles sets clear rules to not ask about his past and to not expect a place in his future. As far as he is concerned, his heart is closed off, and he does not plan to love again. Throughout the story, Miles and Tate go through an adventure of twists, heartbreak, love, and overall forgiveness towards others, as well as themselves.

Buncher Review: Although it is not my favorite book of Colleen Hoover’s, there were many things I did enjoy about it. It is a good read for anyone who is looking for a fast-paced book and one that is not hard to read vocabulary-wise. I particularly enjoyed the parallels between the past in Miles’ point of view and the present in Tate’s point of view. I do want to say that if you are looking to read this book, I would recommend researching it a little more because it has some possibly triggering material. -Vesa Qerimi
