Fact Sheet on RENOVATIONS OF HARBOUR STREET CRAFT MARKET, MONTEGO BAY (PHASE II) BACKGROUND In 2009, the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) facilitated the renovation of 127 shops in the market, along with associated external works. The remaining section of the market has since deteriorated and is in need of urgent rehabilitation. COST $44,000,000 SCOPE OF PROJECT Renovation of shops and bathroom facilities with respect to roofing, walls, repairs to doors and windows, and overall painting Upgrading of the existing drainage and soak-a-way system External works, i.e. driveway, external lighting, and walkways Upgrading of the existing perimeter fencing PARTNERS: UDC Project Manager with responsibility to carry out an assessment of the entire property; develop detailed structural, civil, electrical, mechanical and architectural working drawings; prepare detailed estimates of works in accordance with the detailed drawings; and prepare tender documents and procure suitable contractors using the Government of Jamaica Procurement Guidelines. To supervise, in collaboration with TPDCo, the construction of the Harbour Street Craft Market Project. Tourist Product Development Company To issue funds for the construction of the Harbour Street Craft Market Project (including the design and implementation). Tourism Enhancement Fund As agency charged with overseeing fees charged to incoming cruise and airline visitors, will provide the funds to TPDCo. Marshall Construction Company To effect the required renovations as per contract with TPDCo.
