Weekly Newsletter Summer 2018 Week 5 This week at Upton we have welcomed TV film crews and reporters from around the world all eager to see what our children have been doing to celebrate the Royal Wedding!

TV crews from New Zealand, Germany and Spain have visited, keen to view the action at Upton House.

This morning the Pre-Prep and Prep children visited the Long Walk for some fabulous media experience, including interviews with Sky News, Radio 1 and BBC World News.

Come along to this new exciting event, you are welcome lasting approx 1.5 hours. It is the perfect opportunity to bring our UHS community together to bring friends and family along. Please bring your own whilst enjoying a stroll. We particularly encourage picnic with blankets and chairs.

Well done to Francesca who represented Upton at the National IAPS U9 fencing championships on Saturday at Millfield School in Somerset. She was extremely determined in her pool matches, picking up lots of points and qualifying for the quarter final knockout round. Unfortunately she lost 10-4 to the eventual runner-up, but was proud to receive a quarter finalists medal. Our fencing coach, Mr Beardmore, is very proud that Francesca is the first Upton girl to win a medal! The family would like to thank Mr Beardmore and his daughter Emily for all the help and coaching advice on the day.

Well done to Alexandra in F4 who competed in the West Midlands Open Gymnastics competition in Birmingham last weekend.

It was quite a big event with several clubs participating. Alexandra didn’t win a medal this time but it was a great experience for her.

If you are able to donate any out-grown/unwanted character, jazz or ballet shoes they would be gratefully received to add to our school collection for use in productions etc. Also any Prep-sized boy’s black or grey school trousers and grey shirts. Lesley Webb
