Weekly Newsletter Spring 2019 Week 6 Songs, scholarships, swimming and SUPA were all hot topics at Upton this week. Transition performed the first song of the day All you Need is Love by the Beatles. Well done Transition, your Assembly was amazing. The staff choir followed suit with All I have to do is Dream by the Everly Brothers, leading into a wonderful House Music Day where St Andrew were victorious. We had incredible instrumental performances on the piano, cornet, flute, clarinet, cello and violin plus beautiful vocal solo and duet performances. The finale was the much anticipated House Songs which the girls performed with energy, heart and love. Thank you to Mr Rainer and the Aldro Boys School Jazz Band, who performed, amongst other pieces, YMCA and Billy Jean and there were individual performances on the saxophone, clarinet, French horn and trombone. An inspiring day of music at Upton House School. Thank you Miss Shafikova for organising such a wonderful event. Congratulations to our Form 6 girls who have achieved scholarships at a variety of Senior Schools. They have, between them, received awards for an Academic scholarship plus Drama, Music, Sport and Swimming scholarships. To find out more about the scholarship process, we would be delighted to invite all Prep parents to an information evening on Monday 4th March at 7.30pm. Please make a note in your diary and do come along. Thank you to the Marist for hosting a swimming gala on Monday, the Upton girls swam with great skill, speed and enjoyment in a closely fought contest. Our Pre-Prep tag rugby club took part in the Papplewick rugby tournament; the team went from strength to strength resulting in a 6-0 win in the final match. We very much enjoyed netball matches with Lambrook this week too, Form 6 away and Form 4 at home. I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable half term break and look forward to seeing all the children refreshed and back in school on Monday 25th February. We will come back straight back into The Arts Week where there are lots of wonderful events planned, culminating in our Art Exhibition on Friday 1st March. We anticipate a wonderful afternoon of art appreciation, followed by the Prep Musical Soirée. Please do refer to the letter from Mrs Dearsley being sent separately. Rhian Thornton
