Weekly Newsletter Spring 2019 Week 12 The children in Form 1 were so excited to see many of their grandparents at our annual Grandparents’ Tea Party on Thursday. The afternoon included an opportunity to visit the classroom to see the children’s work and a show in the hall with songs, poetry and paintings of the grandparents as seen through the eyes of their grandchildren. Our thanks to all those grandparents who were able to joins us, some of whom came from overseas for this special occasion. It certainly was a magical afternoon with lots of memories made. Parents were treated to wonderful individual performances from our young and confident musicians in the Pre-Prep Music Assembly this week. There was also a performance from the Upton Orchestra which is fast expanding and is now made up of 11 on the violin, 1 on the trombone, 2 on the trumpet, 1 on the clarinet, 1 on the flute and 3 on the cello! We are super-proud of Fran and Erin in Form 5 who represented Upton House last Saturday at the Fighting Fit fencing tournament in London. Both girls won several pool matches and were placed 10th and 11th out of 31 in their category after round one. The elimination rounds were tough so the girls did not make it through to the quarter final stages this time. Erin was in her first tournament having only commenced fencing club this year—well done Erin!
