News 12th June 2020

Welcome back It is a delight to hear the children’s laughter in school again. The children are the life of the school and we miss them very much. We now have Nursery, Form 1 and Form 6 back at school - though numbers vary greatly in each year group and attendance is not mandatory. Next week we welcome back Pre-Nursery and Transition. We still, however, have the vast majority of our children at home. UptonHouse@Home continues to be at the forefront of our educational provision at this time, delivering content at a rapid daily pace. 15,000 documents viewed to date and 30,300 documents created! Thank you to all our assembly presenters this week; Madame Morris, Mrs Hewitt, Mrs Newcombe, Mrs Broad and Miss Broad. I do hope you were breathing deeply and relaxing with Mrs Hewitt, singing happy birthday with Mrs Newcombe and dancing like crazy with Mrs Broad and Miss Broad. Our whole school assemblies each morning, with Upton coming together, will stand out as one of my favourite parts of this unusual time. Please do remember that assembly from Monday will start at 9am promptly. We have allowed a little later arrival but we now need to ensure each form time and lesson starts on time. We have many more exciting lessons to cover before the end of term. Tomorrow we are hosting Upton’s very first virtual Open Morning. We have a dynamic and exciting package to share with prospective parents in a Question Time format! We have a high number of attendees booked and it will be our pleasure to share with them a little taste of Upton life. As we move through a changing lockdown situation, with rules and restrictions in place still but evolving, I hope the Upton spirit is still shining through for you all. It is certainly shining through at school. Yesterday Mrs Lewin stood in the rain all day to distribute the Peter Pan back drop materials. It was so lovely to wave to and see lots of you in the car park throughout the day. That’s the Upton spirit. We are all busy behind the scenes to deliver the very best for your children in these different times. Mr McEvoy, as you will have read in his letter yesterday, will be changing his role from September. Music Technology comes to Upton and we are all so excited about this. I can see great things happening as Miss Shafikova and Mr McEvoy combine their immense talents for the benefit of the Upton children. More wonderful Upton spirit and creativity on the musical horizon. Wishing you all a very good weekend, Rhian Thornton

Congratulations! What an amazing achievement by all our children in Forms 1 - 6 who took their LAMDA exams last term, with 100% pass rate and 78% distinctions! We are so proud of you and thank you Miss Duncan.
