Celebrating Form 6 To be unable to spend their last term at Upton is so disappointing for Form 6 and we are sad that we cannot all enjoy the wonderful leaving events they would normally experience. But, in our usual Upton way we will not let them go without huge celebrations and some special surprises this term, whether in school or not. We will certainly make sure they leave in true Upton style. The girls can pop back to be celebrated and their successes applauded one warm September evening with canapés, music, speeches, guests and treats, if not before. Setting dates at this time is a challenge but don’t forget you are very important to us Form 6 and we WILL NOT LET YOU LEAVE QUIETLY! - Rhian Thornton
France, we miss you! Form 6 couldn’t go to France on their week long residential but that didn’t stop them setting off on a sightseeing trip to Paris. Madame Morris took them on a short tour of many of the key sites, including the River Seine, Montmartre, the Pont des Arts, les Jardins des Tuileries. It was then time to visit some Parisian museums including the Musée d’Orsay and the Opéra where they could choose the exhibits that interested them the most. There was even time to venture up the Eiffel Tower. After a busy time touring it was back to the classroom for Kahoot tests of general knowledge of Paris and its attractions. Parents, you can look forward to receiving a postcard, all written in French, telling you all about the trip.
Across to Belgium we went Form 6 didn’t end their trip in Paris, they headed to Belgium with Mrs Newcombe. They visited the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing, in Ypres, dedicated to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in the Ypres Salient of World War I and whose graves are unknown. They laid flowers and listened to the Last Post for a moment of reflection and remembrance. They then ventured to Lille Zoo to take part in a virtual tour and visit the many wonderful animals who reside there, including a vast collection of birds, a mob of meerkats, a tribe of primates as well as a pair of white rhinos. They were also accompanied by a very special guest who was helping Mrs Newcombe with her French.
