Upton Spirit I do hope you are enjoying our over-arching assembly themes of togetherness, oneness and unity. Now, more than ever, such themes are crucial. Challenging times bring people together even more, and we, the Upton team, are united in our core purpose of educating your children through UptonHouse@Home with our usual Upton quirkiness, professionalism, creativity and love.

#GreatBritishBunting Starting the week on BBC Berkshire was a treat for me and a brilliant way to launch our bunting request. Please can you all now create your bunting, following Mrs Lewin’s instructions and send back to Mrs Lewin by this coming Monday. The size of the bunting is uniform, but the design can be absolutely anything related to VE Day, soldiers, peace, your own heroes. We will wrap it around our school like a great big hug, and feel proud.

Red, white & blue Next Thursday I will be leading a special assembly with Mrs Newcombe at school. We will be celebrating VE Day and we will have a few surprises to share. Mr McEvoy will join us and we can all have a WW2 singalong.

We will be dressed up in red, white and blue and we would love all the children, and parents if they wish, to do the same. A wonderful opportunity to all come together and have a little fun.

Our children are an inspiration I am so proud of all the children. Their transfer of skills to UptonHouse@Home is to be applauded and they are inspirational.

What skills they are learning and developing in terms of resilience, independence, flexibility and ingenuity, combined with highly impressive tech skills. I sit in on many lessons and often ‘pop in’ and say hello to teachers and the children. Well done everyone.

What’s coming up Next week I start my 1:1 session with Forms 5 and 6. It is the final term for Form 6 and we do want to ensure we make it very special. Form 5 have a very important term ahead and we begin our interview practice sessions next week. I very much look forward to that and to talking to all the children in assembly on Monday.

Transition children are going to dress up as pirates or fairies, or both, on the weekend and send me their pics. I can share these in assembly on Monday as I will be talking about Peter Pan! Thank you Transition.

Please remember that it is so important for the children to take time away from screens over the evenings and weekends. If you are fortunate to have a garden or a safe area to walk, take a little time to enjoy the wonderful sounds of spring and allow your phenomenal children to relax.

They are all working incredibly hard.
