Upton assemblies: a great way to start the day There are so many wonderful things that have happened this term and one of the highlights has definitely been the Upton assemblies. They have really brought everyone together during this unusual time. This week has been no exception. Each morning has encouraged us all to think about others. This week we began with Mrs Thornton and her love of the stories of Winne the Pooh. We were encouraged to explore the different personalities of the characters and although they were all very different, they were all special. Tuesday we were visited by Reverend Pete who reminded us again that we are all working together and that we are all equal. With the magic of technology Reverend Pete delivered a parcel to Form 6 in the hall to demonstrate equality. By unwrapping a box of chocolates, it showed that although there are many different wrappers, they are all equally special just like us. Next up was Mrs Pritchard who was supported by Form 2 telling us all their favourite and not so favourite things about lockdown. As you can imagine this was a theme that we are sure you can all relate to. Everyone has and is enjoying spending time with their families, but they are all missing being able to hug and play with their friends. Thank you 2P for your wonderful assembly videos. Today we were reminded to have patience to complete tasks that we have started. Not everything new is easy and it can take time. Mrs Newcombe ended with some added words of wisdom from some of Form 6 to take us into the weekend: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain! Use your smile to change the world don’t make the world change your smile.” Lynn “Be somebody that makes everyone feel like somebody. Be the girl who turned her cannots into cans and her dreams into plans.” Mikayla Very well said girls. See you on Monday for the next assembly.
