Weekly Newsletter Autumn 2019 Week 6 On Tuesday, children were treated to a surprise visit from Sergeant Major Dean Hughes and the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.

The drum corps astounded us with a spectacular drumming display. The children learnt about life in the infantry regiment, the significance of the leek and the importance of the red tunics and bearskins worn on ceremonial duty. Upton House are delighted to welcome the Welsh Guards to Windsor!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD This year we are delighted to be participating in Operation Christmas Child. This is a project run by Samaritan’s Purse who send shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in need around the world at Christmas time.

Form 6 delivered some heartfelt messages this week and a moving performance of ‘ove Song to the Earth in their class assembly. They presented their chosen endangered species—the vaquita, white tiger, black footed ferret, pangolin, Hainan gibbon, elephant, northern rite whale—and invited the whole school to vote for the animal to support as our chosen charity this year.

WELLBEING Some half term ideas to promote calm & relaxation: 1. Find a breathing exercise that works for you and start practising it. Remember, like any other activity, we need to practise to feel the benefit.

The Nursery children had a wonderful trip to the Forest School at The Marist this week, the children explored the environment, made dens and went on a bear hunt.

Our thanks to the parents, and grandparents, who came with us.

2. Take a minute everyday to close your eyes and press ‘pause’. Allow your thoughts to pass over and focus on being in the present, notice what you feel and hear whilst breathing deeply.

3. Write a list of things that you enjoy and are important to your wellness. Make time to do one thing everyday.
